1. Scope
This policy and associated procedures apply to all job applicants, employees and others who work for us (including but not limited to agency staff, casual and voluntary workers, consultants, contracted workers, and post holders, including the Board of Trustees).
Inspire is opposed to all forms of unlawful and unfair discrimination and aims to ensure that job applicants, employees and others who work for us will be treated fairly and will not be discriminated against irrespective of:
Gender Being pregnant or having a child Gender reassignment Being married or in a civil partnership Religious belief or political opinion Race, colour, nationality, ethnic, national origins or belonging to the
Irish Travelling community Disability Sexual orientation Age
Decisions about recruitment, selection, promotion and training or any other benefit, will be made objectively and without unlawful discrimination.
2. Policy Statement
At Inspire, we are committed to equality and diversity; we aim to employ and retain the best people from a diverse range of backgrounds and to make decisions relevant to employment on the basis of merit.

Taking lawful affirmative or positive action, where appropriate Fulfilling all our legal obligations under the relevant anti-discrimination
legislation and the associated Codes of Practice Ensuring compliance with this Equal Opportunities Procedure C-19-1, the
Dignity at Work Procedure C-23-4 and any associated policies. Regarding all breaches of this Equal Opportunities Policy and Procedure
and/or the Dignity at Work Procedures C-23-4 as misconduct which could lead to disciplinary proceedings.
Inspire’s Equal Opportunities Statement, which will be displayed on all internal and external job advertisements, and any associated documentation:
‘Inspire is committed to equality of opportunity and to selection based on merit’.
3. Review
This policy and associated procedures are not contractual and will be reviewed regularly by the Head of HR and may be amended in future in line with organisational and legislative requirements. Any changes will be advised to staff accordingly.
