Year 4 suggestions for home learning projects

1.Ancient Greece

In History this half term we are focusing on ‘Ancient Greece’. Your project is based upon this and the resources you need are in the home learning folder.

Your project should have: a front cover (title and your name) An explanation of the differences between Athens and Sparta. A map to show the countries that were part of the Persian Empire. A sequence of the key events during the Battle of Marathon

Suggestions for further study of Ancient Greece: Complete the Ancient Greece vs Modern Britain comparison sheet. Complete the Ancient Greek Gods and Goddesses word search. Use the Ancient Greek Olympic event sheet to find out further details about

each event. Design a poster to advertise the first Greek Olympics. Use the internet to help you research the answers to the Ancient Greek

challenge cards. Read the PowerPoint telling the story of Pandora’s Box and then retell the

story in writing. OR Make a puppet show to help you retell Pandora’s Box OR Make a cartoon or graphic novel that retells the story of Pandora’s Box.

Remember to keep your work clear, informative and well-presented. It should be visual and interesting for the person reading it.We look forward to seeing your project!

2. A project about your own chosen subject

When we discussed the idea of a home learning project with the children, they asked whether they could complete a project on a topic of their own choosing.

Some suggestions included: Space A Local History Project, e.g. The Nine Men of Madeley, Abraham Darby Animals A famous artist Sport A famous scientist such as Charles Darwin or Einstein. Dinosaurs A famous explorer

You will have your own ideas as well. We look forward to being amazed!
