TRANSCRIPT
District Overview:Living in the 21st century, we are immersed in a technology and media-suffused environment, marked by various characteristics, including: 1) access to an abundance of information, 2) rapid changes in technology tools, and 3) the ability to collaborate and make individual contributions on an unprecedented scale. To be effective in the 21st century, citizens and workers must be able to exhibit a range of functional and critical thinking skills related to information, media and technology. The BHASD Business and Technology Department offers students opportunities to think critically, be creative, collaborate with others, communicate ideas, demonstrate adaptability, take on leadership roles, practice social responsibility, and apply informational, media and technology literacy. The use of these skills in combination with curricular goals are intended to enable students to grow with the lightning-pace of today’s ever changing global society.
Course Description:This course will allow students to obtain the skills necessary to obtain a G Suite Certification. Current trends in business technology will be explored as well as various computer software program skills that can be used throughout a student’s high school and post high school career. A major emphasis will be placed on Google Drive, Gmail, Docs, Sheets and Slides.
Students who obtain the Google Cloud certification in G Suite demonstrate to prospective employers and colleges that they have a mastery of G Suite applications and the ability to complete common workplace activities using cloud-based tools to create and share documents, spreadsheets, presentations, and files. They also show prospective employers and colleges that they are fluent in digital collaboration tools.

Unit Overview/Essential Understanding: Students will learn the tools necessary to navigate through Google Drive, which is a cloud-based file storage service that allows students to manage, organize, edit, and share files. Instead of being stored on a computer, Google Drive files are stored in the Cloud which can be easily accessed from any computer, smartphone, or tablet with Internet access.
Students will learn how to utilize Google Drive to organize, share and locate folders, documents and files securely. Students will develop a working understanding of downloading and uploading documents, sharing content and Gmail.
Completing this unit on Google Drive will help prepare students for the G Suite Certification Exam.

Unit Title: Google Hangouts Meet
Unit Overview/Essential Understanding: Students will learn about Google Hangouts, which is an online meeting tool for voice and video conversations. This app will allow students to keep in touch with friends, family, or coworkers who are far away from them. Hangouts will also allow students to talk with people in different locations at the same time and meet with them virtually. Students will become familiar with scheduling a Hangout Present as well as managing sound, video and bandwidth.
Completing this unit on Google Hangouts Meet will help prepare students for the G Suite Certification Exam, which will demonstrate their ability to work collaboratively and productively in a professional environment.

Unit Overview/Essential Understanding: In the last ten years, advancements in technology have disrupted societal norms. Corporations, business models, and markets have had to adjust their ways of operation in order to keep succeeding. From the cloud to augmented reality, these now familiar forces are no longer simply trends in the public’s eye. Finding a way to harness innovation while maintaining security and safety remains a challenge. In this unit, students will explore current trends in business technology. Topics that may be explored could range from how 5G could increase network speeds to cloud capacity and social media influences and trends. Students will be exposed to what is “trending” in technology and will be able to explore and learn about how technology is constantly evolving.
