Special congregational MeetingMarch 22nd is a very special day for RPC> The DPNC will be presenting their candidate for RPC’s designated pastor position that day. A special congregational meeting immediately following the worship service, led by the candidate, to vote on accepting the candidate as the installed designated pastor of the congregation, and to approve the associated terms of call. The DPNC will be providing additional informaiton about the candidate in advance of the congregational meeting.

Visitors are welcome to attend this meeting, but only active members of the congregation will be allowed to cast a ballot. Name tags will be in use beginning March 8th, serving both to clearly identify the active members (the only persons who will receive ballots), and on, an ongoing basis, to assist the designated pastor in getting to know us.

The 2-week lead time for name tags is important to ensure that all members have correctly marked name tags, and that any who may have been unintentionally dropped from the rolls will have time to have their membership reaffirmed.

From the Pastor:

A Picture Worth a Thousand Words

We are used looking for hidden meanings and evidences of trolls in photos these days. As I looked at this painting titled Sermon on the Mount, by Jan Bruegel (Jan 1568-1625) a message for our time appeared to me. Can you see it? There are two crowds gathered. One crowd is dressed in the garb of Jesus’ era.

They are gathered around him and appearing to focus on him. The other is dressed in the garb of the medieval times of the artist. And what are they doing? They are paying no attention at all to the other group. Rather they appear to have arranged themserlves in small conversation groups, and are totally oblivious to the group gathered around Jesus. I found this interesting in terms of our daily lives. The words of Jesus are still in our midst, but – are we paying attention?

Thi is an important question for Lent, since Lent is a time of reflection and penance. Are we taking time to think about what has the primary interest in our lives? What entiities and interests are vying for attention?. Where are God’s promises andd Jesus’ words in that mix? Are we paying attention?

Children’s Coin CollectionOur February Children’s Coin Collection raised $38.83 for Comfort Cases. The funds will go to Comfort Cases which provides one child entering foster care with a duffel bag filled with toiletries, toys, books, and blankets. Our next Children’s Coin Collection isSunday, March 8th. It will support the Friday night group’s participation in the May 2nd Tour de Cookie.

Shrove Tuesday Fun

The recipe for the evening –

Collect a Passport; collect stamps for Participating in the events of the evening – games, pancake flipping (or flopping), coin toss, bead toss, and even including clean-up. Then collect your prize(s).

Keep the pancakes coming, fellows.

Pancakes (including gluten free) with chocolate chips, blueberries, or plain – topped with candies, bacon, syrups, fruit and more made for a veritable feast.

At least 30 members and friends had a great evening of fun, and food with friends in the midst of colorful decorations – lots of beads, balloons, and even lighted palm trees.

Thank you Amy, Damaris, and all who helped in any way for planning and carrying out a great party for all ages!
