Reading
Log on to Purple Mash. You have been assigned either ‘Henry the Remarkable Elephant’ or ‘Sky-
scraping Sunflowers!’ Read through a chapter at a time and then
complete the quiz which accompanies each chapter. You can complete other activities linked to each chapter if you have the time.
Spelling Frame
This week’s spelling rule is adding prefixes dis, in and im.
E.g dis + agree = disagreein + correct = incorrect
im + mature = immature.
Work through the activities on the Spelling powerpoint. Then play 2 games of your choice on Spelling
Frame to help you to practise this spelling rule.
Times Tables Rock Stars
Play on Times Tables Rock Stars for at least ten minutes per day. I have set a rock off between the boys and the girls!
Remember to log on and play to win points for your band! I’ll be
looking to see who has been practising and checking the
leaderboard!
Writing
Use the attached PowerPoint and resources to complete a setting
description. Follow the slides to investigate the
features of setting descriptions and to work through the tasks. Watch the video clip and use
the examples to collect golden lines. Then get writing an effective description of the rainforest. I can’t wait to
read through your super writing!
Maths
Please see the Maths grid.
I have set you lessons based around multiplication and division. Have a try of the gold/platinum lessons, but if these are too
tricky have a go of the bronze lessons and tasks. Watch each lesson from the video link and work through the questions from
the sheets. Check to see how many questions you need to answer for your chosen challenge level.
To show me your work or ask any questions, please email me: [email protected]
Science Task 1 Our new science topic is ‘Animals including Humans’. First,
we’re going to look at the human skeleton. Work through this presentation:
https://developingexperts.com/s/missions/102?slide=1&noExit=false&presentation=102
Click the ‘Narration’ button on the bottom left of the screen, and the slides will be read aloud to you. Use a grown up or sibling as a talking partner. Your task will be explained and
the sheets to help you are attached below.
Science Task 2 Now we’re looking at muscles.
https://developingexperts.com/s/missions/105?slide=1&noExit=false&presentation=105
Work through the presentation, just like you did last time. The sheets to help you to complete the mission are below. Ask an adult or sibling to be your talking partner. There is also a
platinum challenge - an extra blinking experiment.
Geography
Our Spring topic is ‘Walk like an Egyptian’ so I’d like you to find out
some information about the country of Egypt. On Purple Mash, I have set up a
Fact file. You will need to research facts to complete it, using the internet.
You can add any pictures and interesting facts that you find.
History
Our topic this term is Ancient Egypt. We find out information about ancient Egyptian people from the objects that
they left behind. Take a look at the sheet of photos of Ancient Egyptian
objects. What do you think the objects are?
Choose one of the photos to explore further and complete the sheet by answering and asking questions.
D and T
This term, our D&T project is to create a healthy fruit kebab to promote healthy eating. To start, test and evaluate 6 different fruits that you could use for your end product. For each one, comment on its appearance, smell, flavour/taste and texture.
Use the attached sheet to help.
Art
Our artist of the term is Ruth Heller, who illustrated ‘The Egyptian
Cinderella’, which we will be using in English this term. Have a read of the description of Rhodopis (the Egyptian
Cinderella) and draw what you think she looks like. Try to match the description as closely as you can. You can
colour this in, thinking carefully about how much pressure you want to use to shade.
PE
It’s so important to keep active whilst you’re at home. Click the links below to try the activities:
Dance
Kids HIIT
Safari Yoga
Supermovers
PSHE
During the Spring term, we are looking at what makes up a healthy lifestyle. Can you define healthy? Compile a list of ways to keep ourselves healthy. You could draw pictures of
these things too, or take photos. After, see if you can find links between these things so that you
can put them into groups e.g. types of exercise.
Perhaps you could create your own ‘to-do’ list of ways that you can keep healthy during lockdown?

Art – Description of Rhodopis
Long ago in the land of Egypt there lived a slave girl named Rhodopis. Rhodopis was born in Greece, but had been kidnapped by pirates and sold into Egyptian slavery. The other servants she lived with teased her endlessly. Their hair was straight and black and elegant; her hair was golden, curly and coarse. Their eyes were brown and black and deep, but hers were green and bright. Their skin glowed like copper and bronze and sand, but Rhodopis had fair skin that burnt in the sun.
