Sum 2 – 22.6.20Pack 10 – Complete as many of these activities you can.

Activity Tick and sign if completed

Collect 10 objects, sort them in different ways, e.g. by colours, size - large & small, wide & narrow.Yesterday was ‘Summer Solitice’. Can you draw pictures about summer time and research what ‘Summer Solitce’ means?Draw or paint a picture of things that move car, e.g. animals, vehicles and people. Can you label them too?Fill the bath (or paddling pool) with water. Put in 5 different containers and using words more/less than, full, empty, nearly full/empty & equal to, to make comparisons. Can you design and make your own Mud pie?Go on a walk locally or to Graves Park and see which animals you can see. Record your work.Use a number line to 20 complete 5 add and 5 takeaway questions. Record your sentences carefully, e.g.12 + 4 = 16Go on a leaf/plant hunt and decide how you are recording your work, e.g. table, chart, pictures, etc.Make up your own board game and play it. Can you write out the instructions carefully.Sort all the shoes into pairs and count them in 2’sWatch your adult cook dinner or lunch and then tell someone how it was made. Use words, first, then, next, after and finally to help you. Write down the instructions.

Collect lots of twigs and use them to make letters.

Can you invent and make your own sandwich. Try something you have never eaten before. Draw andwrite up the recipeMake your own alphabet or number banner for your roomLook for a number and say. ‘1 more/less than __ is’. How quick can you work it out. Try 2 or 3 more/less if this is too easy.

Follow this patter if your child struggles to remember what they are writing: First think of what you are going to write, then say it 3 times out loud, then write it and finally read it

back (make sure you have clear spaces between words, and you use full stops and capital letters correctly).

*Remember neat writing, correct formation of letters and correct spellings are important too!Try these maths questions Find real object and sort them into:

- 0 lines of symmetry- 1 line of symmetry- 2 lines of symmetry(- lots of lines of symmetry

Here are some things I have found.

Make addition and subtraction sentences using numbers below, e.g. 5 + 1 = 6 or 4- 2 = 2

12 4 3 16 9 2 8 4

10 03 children have 12 pennies to share. How much do they get each?Is it an equal share? Are there any spare pennies?Challenge: What about if they had 9/10/15/20/etc pennies. Would it be fair if one child had more pennies?

Make a 2 digiit number using your 0 to 9 cards.Count backwards from that number.

If it’s tricky use a 100 square board to help you.

Describe the patterns and then copy & complete each one a separate piece of

paper

Make your own repeating patterns using things in your house, e.g. Lego, cutlery, fruit, your toys, etc.

If you found one of the questions challenging why not try and do the same question using different numbers to help practise the concept:

1. Use real objects to help you add and take away. 2. Try share with your toys and use real objects

Page 3:   · Web view2020-06-22 · Can you design and make your own Mud pie? Go on a walk locally or to Graves Park and see which animals you can see. Record your work. Use a number line

3. Print of a real 100 square board and practise counting forwards and backwards.

REMEMBER: Practise make perfect!Try doubing– use the word ‘double’ to make up your own doubling problems

Now try halving or sharing

Page 4:   · Web view2020-06-22 · Can you design and make your own Mud pie? Go on a walk locally or to Graves Park and see which animals you can see. Record your work. Use a number line

Practise writing your numbers carefully too. Practise correctly forming your numbers to 20:

Now try and do it without tracing

Challenge - Do it everyday and also practise numbers past 20 if you want to!

Using the letters I sent, everyday:1. Put the letters into order into an arc shape. 2. Practise saying the sound and the name of each one.3. Choose 3 letters to make a word and practise reading it, e.g. cat,

cap, pin, mug, etc. Do this 10 times.4. Write the words done and ensure your writing is neat with letters

formed correctly.5. If you are good at 3 letter words try 4 letter words, e.g. went, jump,

clap, shop, stay (notice some sounds are special friends, e.g. sh, ay) Do this 10 times

6. Write the words done and ensure your writing is neat with letters formed correctly

Keep practise making words using the letters and ‘special friends’ you have.

GROWN – UPS use the words on page 11 to give you ideasIf your child can spell all the words please let me know via email and I will send you trickier ‘special friends’.

The Sheffield Schools Get Active Group (including School Games Organisers, SSP's and the PESOL Team) are excited to bring you the Sheffield Virtual School Games 2020 which will take place 22nd-26th June 2020 during National School Sport Week.

Due to the current situation around the Corona Virus, many school competitions, events and sports days have been cancelled. This competition has been created to enable pupils across Sheffield to compete in simple generic sport skills against pupils from other schools whether they are attending school, or distance learning is taking place.

The competition consists of 8 simple skills that can be completed at school or at home:

Speed Bounce, Target Throw, Keepie Uppies, Coordination Station, Clap Catch, Plank For Points, Healthy Selfie & the Creative Challenge. Fantastic Sports Leaders from Forge Valley School, Meadowhead and Westfield have created instruction videos for each of the activities to go alongside the activity cards which can be accessed on the site or via the QR codes on the activity cards.

All you/ parents/ pupils have to do is follow the activity cards or videos (see below), complete the challenge and record your scores on the scoresheet. Once you have completed all of the challenges, follow the link (below) and submit your results to our online form and you will collate points for your school/ year group or even your class! We will send out information after the event on your individual school to show which year groups engaged the most, which teams and even which pupils.

The competition will be split into the following categories: FS2-Y2, Y3-Y4, Y5-6, Y7-Y8, Y9-Y10.

Pupils will be able to submit their scores from 9am Monday 22nd June until 5pm Thursday 25th June with the results being announced throughout Friday 26th June!

Scores will be calculated on an average score based on how many pupils have taken part. A minimum of 20 scores must be submitted for each school and category. Bonus Points will be awarded for every school that submits over 50 results in a single category. Pupils, parents and teachers can also do the challenges; submit their scores via the link to add points to their school total. Trophies will be provided for the winning schools in each category.

We would love for Lower Meadow to Academy to get involved in this and we cannot wait to you all taking part!
