However over the past few weeks we have also been dismayed at the lack of respect shown to the area. We have had to close the toilets for a number of days due to misuse, safety signs erected to protect those using the diving boards have been taken and the changing rooms and general area around the boathouse has been significantly littered. As a small committee we do our best to keep the area fit for use and we hope that anyone using the area will be look out for the facilities and do their bit to keep them maintained. GRAIG HAS A NEW MAYOR:The Graiguenamanagh and Raheendonore Fianna Fail Cumman are delighted and Congratulate local Councillor Peter Chap Cleere on his election as Mayor of Kilkenny City & County. It is the first time anyone in the parish to be elected to such a high office and we wish Chap all the best in his new role for the coming year. Newtown hallNewtown hall committee would like to thank Rathanna Drama Group for putting on their brilliant play in Newtown hall on last Saturday. Also congratulate them on celebrating 50 years . A brilliant nights entertainment was had by everyone. Raffle winners on the night were Noel Doyle, Aidan Dunne, Jackie Ryan, Ella O Neill , Ann Crowe, Margaret Ryan, Cathy Deegan and Paul Fenlon. Door prizes went to J Ryan, Willie O Hanlon and John White.

Graiguenamanagh Library NewsOnce again, Kilkenny County Library Service’s annual Summer Reading Challenge (Summer Stars) runs in all libraries across the county. This challenge encourages children to read a minimum of 8 books through the summer holiday period. By participating, children will improve their reading levels and enjoy the ‘summer slide’ in an enjoyable way, by picking up free rewards along the way! Once registered, they receive a starter pack, including a card to record their progress. Children can read whatever they like – fact or fiction, as long as books is borrowed from the Library!
