10 WAYS TO PREVENT “SUMMER SLIDE” During the summer, have you noticed your child forgetting what was learned during the school year? Does your child slip out of the habit of practicing reading and math? Here are some ways to help prevent that from happening. 1. Read SIX books during the summer. Try the Cleveland Public Library’s Children’s section. They have wonderful books to keep your child interested in reading. 2. Read and write every day. Grab a newspaper or your eReader. Cook together and read recipes. Write funny stories about your day and read them together at bedtime. 3. Read 20 MINUTES every day. Have your child read to you aloud. Then you take a turn, reading a harder book aloud to your child. 4. Play MATH WAR or concentration with flash cards or playing cards. 5. Do some STEAM activities . Those are activities in Science, Technology, Engineeering, Arts, and Math. 6. Try math drill apps, or a math website such as IXL or http://www.mathgoodies.com/ . 7. 10 WAYS TO PREVENT “SUMMER SLIDE”

During the summer, have you noticed your child forgetting what was learned during the school year?

Does your child slip out of the habit of practicing reading and math?

Here are some ways to help prevent that from happening.

1. Read SIX books during the summer. Try the Cleveland Public Library’s Children’s section.
