Creating Interactive Documents
Creating a hyperlink (clickable links in documents, PowerPoints, or websites) is easy! Once you’ve mastered this simple skill you’ll then learn how hyperlinks can help you differentiate instruction by allowing you and your students to easily access additional information or instructions, connect to customized assignments, or link to a website.
Getting started:
1) Highlight and Copy the desired URL straight from your web browser
2) Highlight the word or phrase you would like to attach the link to (Example is from an email)
3) Under the “Edit” menu click on “Make Link…”
4) Paste your copied link into the “Target URL” section. A successful link will be underlined with an arrow to the left.
Linking between documents:
1) Highlight the word, phrase or picture you would like to attach a link to.
2) Under the “Insert” menu click on “Hyperlink”
3) Instead of pasting a link to a website, click on the “document” tab and then the “select” button.
4) Select the document you want the link to open and click “open.” To finish up be sure to click “OK” in the open window.
5) If you’re creating a menu for your students to click on that will help them navigate between projects be sure all these projects (PowerPoints, Kidspiration pages, Word Documents, Excel Sheets, etc.) are all housed within the same folder. This folder can easily be transferred to your grade level section on the school server.
Example: I like to label the menu sheet as “123…ClickOnME!” so they know what to open first.
