Summary: The Bad

Web 2.0 is *so* over. Really now, we’ve been stuck on “v2” for 4-5 years now, haven’t we? Iterate already!

Online Advertising will be hit hard by US recession. Expect some pullback from Google, Yahoo, MSFT and financial advertisers in particular.

VCs are getting nervous again; money may dry up if Google ever has an earnings “hiccup” (watch Thursday)

WAY TOO MANY startups with nothing more than 1 web page for a product. Feature-itis is killing me.

Summary: The Good

The fuzzily-defined movement known as Web 2.0 continues to expand. Costs are lower, features are better, more people & ideas to try out & monetize.

Market downturns should be softened by overall continuing growth in online advertising & e-commerce.

VCs will succeed & VCs will fail, but there will always be plenty of cash available if you’ve got a good idea.

Getting a Web 2.0 startup off the ground is easier & less costly than ever… but still thousands of ideas to try.
