10TH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
MARK 3:20-35
WHAT’S HAPPENING AROUND OUR FACILITIES: THE SMALL WHITE HOUSE Last year on April 2, 2017, I announced that our small white house on the southwest side of our property was coming down. Fourteen months later, if you haven’t yet noticed, I can report that the house was demolished back on May 8, 2018. The house was a piece of St. Ignatius Loyola History. The house was originally built for the sextant of the parish. The sextant was in charge of taking care of the parish grounds. The house was at least 100 year’s old. It was used, to my knowledge, by at least 2 families. Coincidentally, I was on one of our parish trips a few years ago when I met the daughter Krystina of a Polish family who was welcomed by Msgr. Bittermann to stay in the house. Msgr. Bittermann employed her dad as the sextant of the parish in the 1960’s. He gave the family a new lease on life after escaping the Communist Poland. After Krystina’s family, the house was lived in by the Blanc family. Mr. Blanc became the next sextant of the parish for many years. Some of you most likely knew him. Following the Blanc’s, the house was used for a variety of purposes. There was an Ecumenical Counseling Center fol-lowed by an organization known as Hope for Stroke. Since then, the house grew into disrepair. After much consultation and cost analysis, the Finance Council, our Business Consultant Dave and I decided that it was most effective to demolish the house than doing major renovations. .
The building was not conducive for a regular house after Hope For Stroke or for offices due to its damages. With every death however, we believe in new life and new beginnings. So, I am in the process of contemplating how best to use the new space. One idea is to extend the parking lot into that area where the white house stood. We have had problems with parking at some of the more crowded Masses where people park in unauthorized areas making if difficult for emergency personnel to travel through the parking lot. Some have even parked in the private lot of our Domini-can Sisters or in front of the priest’s garage, which is a “no…no”.
In taking all of this into consideration, I am opened to suggestions. I am particularly interested in talking with anyone who is involved in landscaping and/or works for the Town of Oyster Bay and have knowledge of property. Please send me an email or give me a call. Thank You! 20
TH ANNIVERSARY OF ORDAINED PRIESTHOOD
This Wednesday June 13th will be my 20
th Anniversary as an ordained priest. All I can ask is
where did the time go? I am grateful to Almighty God for granting me the opportunity to serve you his people, the Church, with his message of love, unity, mercy, healing and peace. Each day has been a new experience of meeting Jesus. Thank you for your support through these years. I am most grateful to my parents and my family for their continued prayer, love and support. I am glad my dad was with us physically for at least the first 18 years. You are invited to join me at the 9am Mass on Wednesday, June 13
th. Afterwards, we will have a little outdoor hospitality, if it does not
rain.
CORPUS CHRISTI - MOST HOLY BODY & BLOOD OF CHRIST 2018 Thank you to all who participated in this year’s Corpus Christi Procession. Even though it was cloudy, our procession was a beautiful expression of the Body of Christ bringing forth the Body of Christ in the Eucharist into the world! Thank you to our Emaus Ministry (Spanish Speaking), the Eucharistic Ministers & Homebound Ministry (Spanish speaking) and to our Lectors (English Speaking) for preparing the beautiful altars. Thank you also to Suzanne for the captivating pictures! Thank you also to our liturgical ministers: music, altar servers, lectors and sacristan. May we always strive to do things for the greater glory of God. May God bless you and Mary keep you and your families. St. Ignatius Loyola, pray for us.

Focus on Religious Freedom
from Catholics for Freedom of Religion www.cffor.org
Religious Persecution Worldwide - 2 Types: In North America and Europe we see a "Polite
Persecution" through intimidation and legislation.
In Asia and Africa we see more and more "Violent
Persecution."
1. Polite Persecution: In Michigan, Fired for her
Faith: A Catholic clinical social worker with 20
years experience providing individual psychological
counseling to a diverse group of patients, was fired
because she refused marriage counseling to a same-
sex couple. Her supervisor said she had to be a
"social worker first and a Catholic second."
2. Violent Persecution: Radicalized Hindus have
increased violent attacks on the religious minorities
of Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, and Buddhists. These
range from arson of churches to priests beaten &
killed, nuns raped, and the destruction of Christian
schools, colleges, and cemeteries.
Save the Date! Mark your calendar! Saturday, June 30, Rally For Religious Freedom, 10-12:00, St. John the Baptist HS, Montauk Hwy, West Islip, Public Witness Rosary @ 10:00, Rally @ 10:30; Keynote Speakers: Fr. Eric Fasano, Co-Chancellor DRVC; Sister Constance Viet, Little Sis-ters of the Poor; Video messages from Bishop Barres & Cardinal Dolan.
STEWARDSHIP
Stewardship Thought for the Week Adam and Eve were banished from the Garden
because of their disobedience. But Jesus says in
today’s Gospel that when we are obedient to
God’s will—when we use our gifts to serve one
another—we become part of His family.
“Whoever does the will of God is brother and sis-
ter and mother to Me.”
Living Stewardship We are grateful this week for all STEWARDS in
our parish who, through their stewardship of time
and talent, find a deeper relationship with God as
they go about sharing their gifts and serving oth-
ers, especially through our parish ministries.

A Message From Dynamic Dylan and his Mom
On May 6, 2018, Holy Family CYO held its’ 11th annual Car Wash vs Cancer fundraiser. This year
the proceeds were donated to Dynamic Dylan and his mom, Teresa Ma. Dylan, now 6 years old, was di-
agnosed with stage 4 neuroblastoma in April 2016. However, he has responded well to the various forms
of treatment and is currently enrolled in a clinical vaccine trial at Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital. Dyl-
an and his mom attended the car wash and both were afforded celebrity status by the volunteers. Dylan
was given gifts, posed for a number of pictures with the volunteers and enjoyed meeting several of Hicks-
ville’s bravest, while checking out their fire truck.
On behalf of Holy Family CYO I would like to thank Fr. Gerard, the many volunteers, the various
Foundations that sponsored our fundraiser, those who attended the car wash and those who made generous
donations. Through the kindness and generosity of so many, we were able to exceed our fundraising goal.
Dylan’s mom has a message for all those who made this endeavor so successful. She wrote: “I can’t
begin to express how much you have helped us and what your gift means to us. The money is definitely
helpful and will go to extremely good use. But more than the monetary value, I so greatly appreciate the
thought behind the gift. Illness is a burden but you have really lightened the load. For that especially, I
thank you.”
And from Dylan:
Thank you for your support. Thank you for your kindness. Thank you for caring.
