Participant terms and conditions

• Sustrans cannot be held responsible for any injury or illness caused during or as a result of the event, or for any property lost. You are participating in this Sustrans event entirely at your own risk.

• Participants are responsible for their own health and safety and must take all reasonable care to ensure the safety of others.

• Please cycle/walk with care and be aware of uneven surfaces including potholes

• Sustrans reserves the right to change the route if required.

• Our marshals are present to facilitate smooth operation and to ensure everyone's safety, so please follow their instructions.

• Participants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times.

• Wear suitable clothing according to the weather conditions e.g. sunscreen and hat; or water/windproof clothing.

• Sustrans reserves the right to remove a participant from the ride/walk should any aspect of the participant's behavior be deemed inappropriate or it is believed the participant's safety or the safety of others may be compromised.

If you are taking part in a ride:

• Please ensure your bike is in good working order and road worthy prior to the event and if necessary have it checked by a qualified mechanic.

• Adhere to the Highway Code at all times - https://www.gov.uk/highway-code.

• Please bring a good lock to secure your bike with. Sustrans is not responsible for any loss, theft or damage.

• A mobile phone will be useful to make any emergency contact.

Whitby Park Ellesmere Port to the National Waterways Museum

10.00AM

Open for registration and entertainment from local bands.

10.30AM

Mini Bike and Boats around Whitby Park for scooters, bikes with stabilisers, prams or anything else with wheels!

11.15AM

‘Bling Your Bike’ and join the main Bike and Boats ride (2.5 miles) to the National Waterways Museum accompanied by Dan Fox and his amazing musical Boom Box Ride.

12.00PM

Arrive at the National Waterways Museum

12.00PM – 5.00PM

Presentation at 1.00pm and free activities and performances on throughout the afternoon.

Or just turn up on the day but allow time to register!

Our fun packed day starts in Whitby Park with some Brass Band oomph at 10.00am. ‘Bling Your Bike’ to razzle the crowds! Arrive ready ‘blinged’ or get ready at the Bling Station.

For younger riders there will be a mini Bike and Boats ride around Whitby Park at 10.30am. The main ride from Whitby Park to the National Waterways Museum will start at 11.15am. The ride is 2.5 miles long and is on designated cycle paths and quiet 20mph roads. Once at the museum, entry will be FREE all day with a packed programme of bike and boat themed activities.

The decorated bikes will be judged and all entries will receive a goody bag. Danny Butler’s Extreme Mountain Bike Show will display jaw dropping stunts and there will be novelty bikes to try plus other bike powered activities.

The Sustrans Community Places Project is working in partnership with the National Waterways Museum to bring this annual community event to our town.
