At the recent West Clermont Board of Education meeting on9/9/2019, the Board approved its updated policies oncompliance officer investigations and Section 504.

In an effort to update and streamline the district’sinvestigative policies, several revisions have beenmade. Compliance officers typically conduct investigationswhen some form of discrimination or harassment hasoccurred. With the approved revisions, the policies are nowmore clear and consistent for all parties, establishing one

universal investigative procedure that compliance officers will utilize when investigatingpotential policy violations.

Additionally, the Board approved revisions to its policy on bullying. The revisions to this policywill ensure that our policies match the Ohio Revised Code.

Mercy Health: Is it a Strain or Sprain?Learn how to tell the difference between a strain and sprain

Many of the symptoms of a joint sprain and a joint strain are the same. So how do you tell thedifference between the two common conditions?

Because these injuries are so similar, people often confuse a strain for a sprain, and viceversa. In fact, the two terms are often used interchangeably, which is incorrect. Here is how totell the difference between a strain and a sprain.

A sprain is a stretch or tear of a ligament, the band of connective tissues that joins the end ofone bone with another. Areas of the body most vulnerable to sprains are your ankles, kneesand wrists. Sprains are caused by events such as a fall or a blow to the body that knocks ajoint out of position.

A strain is a twist, pull, or tear of a muscle or tendon, a cord of tissue connecting muscle tobone. It is an acute, non-contact injury resulting from overstretching or over-contraction. Themost common locations for a muscle strain are the hamstring muscle and the lower back.
