ABOUT THE KNIGHTS

The Warner Pacific Knights (16-10, 11-5 CCC) are currently tied with OIT in conference wins. Their last weekend out, the Knights split games with Northwest Christian and Corban, 65-52, 62-76 respectively. They are currently ranked seventh in Div. 2 in assists per game and eighth in total assists.

LAST TIME THEY MET...Dec. 1, 2012

La Grande, Ore. – The Eastern Oregon Mountaineer women’s basketball team (9-2, 2-0 CCC) defeated Warner Pacific College (3-4, 0-2 CCC) in tonight’s CCC matchup at Quinn Coliseum 84-59. Kelsea Hurliman led all scorers with 23 points, shooting 8-11 from the field and 7-10 from behind the arc. Nicole Redd added 17 points and 6 assist. Chelsay Christianson led Warner Pacific with 14 points and 6 rebounds. Morgan Wolff and Aleena Cesaro contributed with 9 and 8 points respectively. Eastern would finish the game shooting 50% (31-61) from the field along with 50% (13-26) from behind the three point line compared to Warner Pacific’s 36% (22-60) from the field and 27% (5-18) from behind the arc. Coach Weissenfluh stated after the game, “It feels great to open up conference play with two wins. Our team came out ready to play hard for the entire 40 minutes. Kelsea and Nicole both had a very special night and an outstanding weekend. They have been working ex-tremely hard in practice and it was great to see that hard work pay off this weekend.”

ABOUT THE CONFERENCEThe top seed for the 2013 Cascade Conference tournament has been decided as Eastern Oregon wrapped up the regular season last weekend against College of Idaho but there is still a lot to decide as nine of the 10 teams could find themselves celebrating a trip to the playoffs.EOU and C of I will head to Portland this week to take on Concordia and Warner Pacific while Corban and Northwest Christian will play for their playoff existence at Oregon Tech and Southern Oregon. The final game matches Evergreen traveling to Northwest to wrap up the regular season.The pairings for the 2013 CCC Tournament will be released on Saturday night.

ABOUT THE CAVALIERS

The Concordia University Cavaliers (11-15, 5-11 CCC) also split their last weekend out. The Cavaliers faced Corban losing 102-105 and Northwest Christian winning 68-55. Their game against Corban went into double overtime before the Cavaliers fell short. Concordia is cur-rently ranked seventh in the conference. After their loss to Corban this past weekend, the Cavaliers are now tied with the Warriors in conference.

WEEK SIXTEEN: WARNER PACIFIC & CONCORDIATHE LAST TIME OUT ...NO. 4 MOUNTAINEERS CLINCH BERTH TO NATIONALS...Feb. 8, 2013La Grande, Ore. – The No. 4 Eastern Oregon women’s bas-ketball team Defeated No. 16 College of Idaho in the NAIA basketball game of the week, 60-50. Tonight’s win clinched the Cascade Collegiate Conference title and earned the Mountaineers an automatic berth to the NAIA Division II National Championship. Kelsea Hurliman led Eastern (26-2, 16-0 CCC) with 20 points, shooting 5-of-9 from the three-point line. Jorie Free-man added 15 points and 5 rebounds, while Korrie Bourn contributed 11 points and 6 rebounds. College of Idaho (17-7, 13-3 CCC) was led by Katelin Shan-non with 15 points and 5 rebounds, while teammates Falic-ity Jones and Chakala Carthen each finished with 10 points respectively. In the first half Eastern jumped out to an early five point lead before College of Idaho came back to tie the game at seven with 12:15 on the clock. Hurliman sparked the Moun-taineers offense with back to back threes as EOU went on an 8-0 run to open their lead to 15. Eastern would go into the locker room up, 32-17. EOU shot 13-of-24 (54%) from the field in the first half and 5-of-12 (41%) from behind the arc. The Yotes shot 6-of-18

(33%) from the field and 0-of-4 (0%) from the three point line. The Mountaineers came out in the second half and contin-ued to control the game increasing their lead to eighteen early on. Midway through the half, EOU saw their largest lead of the game after a jumper by Freeman which put the Mountaineers up 19, 52-33. College of Idaho would go on a run with just under five minutes to play but it was too little too late as EOU would hold onto their double digit lead sealing the 20th straight win for the Mountaineers, 60-50. EOU finished shooting 23-of-46 (50%) from the field and 7-of-21 (33%) from the downtown. C of I shot 17-of-43 (39%) from the field and 1-of-10 (10%) from behind the arc. Eastern will play again next Friday, Feb. 15 as they travel to Warner Pac, game time is set for 5:30 pm.
