This PowerPoint was created to inform students, parents and staff of some important changes in

routine when we return to school.

It must be noted that this information can be subject to change at any time, but is representative of what is currently planned as

of August 17, 2020.

Each Morning Before Coming to School:• Stay home if you

Bus Boarding and DepartureSocial Distancing Rules

● Please continue to follow bus safety rules respectfully. Look to your driver for guidance.

● Students will board the bus to school while keeping a six-foot distance from the next student and will fill in the back of the bus first.

● Students will continue to wear masks while riding the bus.● Seats will be assigned for all students.● Siblings should be seated together. When exiting the bus, students will

unload from the front first.

Entry transition to Homeroom

● At the start of the day, students report directly to their homeroom upon entering the building. The only exception is students who eat breakfast at the Café. Our goal is to reduce hallway traffic and student to student exposure as much as possible.

● Homeroom has been extended this year to allow for additional time to focus on social-emotional learning. This will continue throughout the school year.

● Students will be directed to move in a staggered fashion while leaving or boarding the bus

● While walking into an entrance, and then when inside school, students are expected to continue to be wear a mask and be 6 ft apart.

● Staff will be present at arrival and dismissal times to help maintain social distancing.

Student movement throughout Building

Student movement will resemble how cars abide the rules of the road. Always keep to the

right side of the hallway and use caution/distance when coming to an

intersection or classroom door.

Be Polite, Stay to the Right

Once in school you will not be able to use your locker – everything travels with you from class to class. Backpacks are allowed.

No Locker Use for 2020 - 2021

● Breakfast - students may report to the cafe directly from the bus if they have signed up for breakfast. The cafeteria has been set up to allow for social distancing.

● Lunch - Lunch/recess is scheduled for Grades 5 through 8. Lunch will be served in the cafeteria following social distancing guidelines. Recess will be held either outdoors or in a room with social distance guidelines in place.

Wayne Central School DistrictAs we move forward with our Reopening Plan, it is important to discuss the difference between the remote learning expectations in the Spring of 2020 (Crisis Response) and the Remote and Hybrid Online Learning Expectations for the fall of 2020.

Schedule Themes: ● Safe, Predictable, Consistent, Flexible and Adaptable to all learning environments

Summary: Hybrid instructional plan at grades 5-12: This plan will have approximately 50% of our student body in the school building on any given day. Highlights of the schedule include:● 8 period schedule, 40 minute classes with 30 minute lunch● Students attend in-person either Monday/Thursday or Tuesday/Friday ● All students meet virtually on Wednesdays and opposite in-person days● Students with IEPs and ELL services will attend more frequently

Important Information Attendance ● Daily attendance will be recorded according to NYS guidelines for in-person instruction, as well as for participating in

both synchronous and asynchronous learning activities.

Grading & Feedback ● Grading will be consistent in both the hybrid and virtual models. Teachers will provide continuous feedback to students.

Code of Conduct ● The approved Wayne CSD Code of Conduct and student handbooks will be followed.

Communication ● Regular communication will come from teachers via Schoology, Remind or through Emails. Parents will be provided with

access to Schoology, including those courses designed to communicate Grade Level Specific Information at both the MS & HS.

Technology ● We will leverage a variety of technology tools to support students in both models. Schoology is the learning management

system (LMS) that teachers will use to house instructional materials and tasks for students. School Tool remains the consistent communication tool for students and families regarding student progress.

Fully Remote Option Summary

● Students will be fully scheduled in classes and will be expected to complete work as communicated through the weekly learning experiences posted in Schoology for each class.

● While students will have specific teachers for each course, a primary Virtual Learning Liaison (VLL) will be assigned to each virtual learning student. This liaison will coordinate and facilitate the learning experiences represented on the weekly playlist in Schoology. This liaison will act as the primary school contact.

● Students seeking additional support in content specific areas will be able to access daily virtual learning lab support.
