WaterRower Maintenance Checks WHEN TO

CHECK

PART OF

MACHINE

WHAT TO

CHECK ACTION

DAILY

TANK Dust Build Up Overtime dust can build up on the tank and in amongst the belts, dust

regularly.

RAILS Cleaning

Extrusions/

Mono Rail

Dust and wipe off dirt on the extrusion/mono rail where the seat wheels

contact the rails, this should be done after every use to prevent build up

of dirt on the rails and seat wheels.

RECOIL

BELT

Alignment of

the belt in

the pulleys

Before each class check the alignment of the recoil belt, it can

sometimes come off the front pulleys and just needs to be pulled back

into position.

If the recoil belt is off a pulley then the recoil of the handle will be

sluggish and not feel smooth. It will also lead to fraying of the belt.

Check the belt is aligned and runs over each pulley correctly and

smoothly.

WEEKLY

RECOIL

BELT

Tension of

the Recoil

Re-strap the recoil belt, to do this stand the machine up and adjust the

tension of the buckle near to where it joins to the bungee cord. This

will adjust the tension on the recoil which can loosen over time and with

use. Be careful not to over tighten the strap as the buckle will hit the

front pulley under the forward riser.

Re-strap the buckle Recoil buckle, d-ring & bungee hook

DRIVE

STRAP

Drive Strap

around the

Clutch

The wrapping of the drive strap around the clutch can become

misaligned with use, this can lead to a rubbing or scraping noise when

rowing.

Realign the drive strap by pulling the handle to the far end of the rail

(so it unwraps to the last point on the clutch), then slowly recoil the

drive strap and use your fingers to wrap it neatly around the clutch.

Use your fingers to realign the Drive strap

MONTHLY

TANK

Water

Condition

The condition of the water in the tank needs to be checked every

month, if there is any start of discoloration then add a chlorine tablet.

You will need to remove the tank stopper to add in a tablet, moisten

the tank stopper to help reinsert it back in to position.

We recommend adding in a chlorine tablet every 3 months or so, it

depends on how much sunlight the machine is exposed to. If exposed to

a lot of sunlight then add a tablet every month.

If your machine has the blue dye then chlorine does not need to be

added.

If the water has turned brown or green then it will need to be replaced,

use the hand siphon pump to remove and add in fresh water.

DOLLEY

WHEELS

Loose front

Dolley

Wheels

Overtime the front wheels on which the machine moves can become

loose, use an Allen key to tighten the nuts holding the front Dolley

wheels.

Use the Allen Key to Tighten the Dolley Wheels

BOLTS Loose Bolts With use and changes in temperature & humidity the connecting bolts in

the wood can become loose, gently tighten all bolts with the Allen Key.

Check this once a month.

If squeaking or creaking sounds occur when rowing, this can be resolved

by gently tightening all bolts.

WHEN IT

HAPPENS

MONITOR Reading

correctly

First check the orientation &/or replace the 4 AA batteries.

To replace the batteries in the S4 monitor, first unscrew the 2 screws

holding the backplate at the back of the monitor. Remove the backplate

and replace the batteries. Screw back the backplate.

Sometimes the sensor disk of the S4 monitor slides down the main shaft

and incorrect readings on the monitor can occur. Gently slide the sensor

disk up towards the top deck, this movement is very small, a millimeter

or 2.

If a scraping sound occurs, you may have moved the disk too far up so

that it is touching the underside of the top deck, gently slide the sensor

disk down to find the ideal position.

TANK

STOPPER

In Position

The tank stopper can fall out on occasion, reinsert it into position. Wet

the tank stopper to help with reinsertion.

Insert Tank Stopper

SEAT

(applies

only to

the WR)

Slides

smoothly

Sometimes the seat can come off the extrusions and the guide wheels

rub under the extrusions. Check that the seat slides smoothly up & down

the rails and there is no rubbing of the guide wheels.
