AeroTrain Automated People Mover System

DESCRIPTION:The Automated People Mover (APM) System will replace most of the current Mobile Lounge system that is used to transport passengers between the Main Terminal and the Midfield Concourses. The design-build project includes design, manufacture, and installation of guideway, power, and automatic train control systems. The contractor will also provide 29 vehicles.

DESCRIPTION:The project will add 204,000 square feet to the existing (IAB) footprint. New construction will add approximately 101,000 square feet to the existing arrivals hall area and 93,000 square feet to the baggage basement.

UPDATE:The contractor completed Phase 1 with the installation of: elevator and escalator mechanical equipment; power and data systems required for customs and border protection; interior and exterior finish work, and on-site utilities.

Phase 2 construction is underway. Activities include building demolition, relocation of utilities, and building excavation.

Completion of Phase 2 construction is scheduled for February 2011.
