WASHINGTON/OAK IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT UPDATE August 19, 2015 Work has started on the decorative intersections on Oak Street! Due to the different colors and shapes involved in creating the decorative intersections, there will be extensive work in forming and pouring each color individually. Work at the intersections of Washington & Rose and Oak & Rose is mostly complete. We are currently evaluating options to reduce the bumpiness at the Washington & Rose intersection that is the result of the grade changes necessary to meet ADA guidelines with the bulb-out corners. Work Schedule: Over the next two weeks, the contractor is scheduled to do the following: Aug 17 21 Install light pole bases on east side of Main Street. Prep and repair sidewalks near light pole bases. Aug 17 21 Bore for new streetlight conduits on Kane Street. Aug 18 Sept 1 Complete east halves of Oak & Main and Oak & Jackson intersections. Aug 24 26 Excavate, form and place ramps at SE and NE corner of Kane Street at Oak Avenue. Please note that the schedule above is subject to change but is the best information we have at this time. Work Hours: 5 am to 6 pm Monday through Friday Traffic Impacts: Oak Street between Jackson and Main Street will remain closed until these two decorative intersections are completed (both halves) and re-opened to traffic. Traffic will be detoured at Rose and/or Jackson Street depending on where the contractor is working. North/South traffic on Jackson and Main will remain open, but may be delayed occasionally. East/West traffic will be detoured. Other intermittent lane closures will occur for sidewalk replacement and boring operations.
