Page 3: War project

I liked this poem because it brings out the reality of war. The poem brings out the reality of war in only twenty-three lines. The author seems to make you draw yourself into the poem to read it faster an make your mind race with immagination. One specific feature of this poem that stood out to me was imagery. Imagery stood out to me because as I read I had pictured each one of the lines in my head.

War

It's war, all out war Between me, myself, and I It's war, all out war Between the the needle and the eye It's war, all out war Between the voices in my head It's war, all out war Between the feathers and the lead It's war, all out war Between desire and sudden death It's war, all out war Between the woman and her last breath It's war, all out war Between the people clad in black It's war, all out war Between the love that they now lack It's war, all out war Between the man and his strife It's war, all out war Between his love and his new life It's war, all out war Between the heart and the head It's war, all out war As the man falls over dead

This poem had a darker heavier sense to me. Leaning a little bit toward the unsettling side. The author had used a sense of end rhyme. At the end of the lines he used words that would tie into rhyming with the next line.

The War King

War above the clouds, War below the earth, The War King rules this land.

This strife has gone on for too long, So a Band of warriors has come, The War King rules this land.

War and strife, Anger and hate, The War King rules this land.

When the warriors come, There will be death, The War King rules this land.

The War King rules this land no more, The wars are over, Justice has prevailed.

Steve Vaughan

Page 7: War project

I had primarely chosen this poem because the first stanza matched one of the pictures I had already chosen. The poem of course follows the overall theme of the project. Steve Vaughan to me is a well rounded poet. He uses free verse in this poem.

Time For Joining WarWe have to join in war, This is the time to join in warYes, I have to go to battle fieldNot to waste time in this way.Have to go to war; have to go to warHave to go to war.

Bondage! No, no, no and never, I do not accept, can’t accept, this can’t beFlowers will not bloom on my way-this can’t beCan any one hold the sun in pledge? I must join the war, Join the war, join the war.

Enemy of flower is the foe of sunFoe of sun is the enemy of flowerAnd also enemy of our love-Flood, thunder, storm- are temporary distressCould you hold your beauty in pledge at mirror? No! No, no, no, no- it will must come out.

Perfume of flower is sent as letterPerfume of flower, perfume of flower, perfume of flower-Who are the enemies their eremite is for everEnemy of river, tree, magpie robin and cuckooWar, war against themYes, I have to go to battle field.

War against them who create obstructionOn the way of riverWar against them who hang the green grassWar against them who obstruct the rain fall from sky

War, war and warAgainst them who obstruct to love flower, poet to writeWho obstruct to talk in mother tongue! War, war, war and war against them

I have to go to battle field-This is the time to join in warThis is the time to join in warAnd this is the time to join in war. BONGOKOBIDA ZAKARIA

I chose this because after college I am planning to join the military. The way that it flows intreuges me. The author made me feel like I should enlist tomorrow, making it feel like it is my time to go to war.

The Beauty of WarWarYou are a beautyFor roundtable evadersAlways the sole optionPolished erstwhile weaponryThe beauty of war

WarYou are a beautyFor lovers of environmentScorching terrainFrom vegetation into scarletWith ripples of bloodThe beauty of war

WarYou are a beautyHowever long it takesHowever deep the destructionBy the bulldozers of deathYou succumb to the same adageThe sanity of the roundtableThus the beauty of war!

Page 11: War project

I chose this poem because there is a beauty to war and most people do not see it. The soldiers on the ground don’t even see it because theyre in it. The destruction is simpily breath taking. Along with the fast reations of the strongest military power. To me the author uses a free verse poem, not following a certain pattern but still inspiring.

O Blood Soldiers

Hear my calls blood soldiersYou will live o you will live, Wars will comeAnd wars will go, You will live o you will live.Follow my calls o blood soldiersAll shall live In wars after wars, No one shall dieIn many wars.Hear my calls o fair soldiersAll will liveIn many wars. For I will doThe best for you.

Page 13: War project

I chose this poem because it matches me. I come from a family of soldiers and I feel like it is my part to join the military and serve the country. The author to me uses a free verse style poem. Meaning that it doesn’t follow a fixed pattern.

Page 14: War project

The CallFar and near, high and clear,Hark to the call of War!Over the gorse and the golden dells,Ringing and swinging of clamorous bells,Praying and saying of wild farewells:War! War! War!

High and low, all must go:Hark to the shout of War!Leave to the women the harvest yield;Gird ye, men, for the sinister field;A sabre instead of a scythe to wield:War! Red War!

Rich and poor, lord and boor,Hark to the blast of War!Tinker and tailor and millionaire,Actor in triumph and priest in prayer,Comrades now in the hell out there,Sweep to the fire of War!

Prince and page, sot and sage,Hark to the roar of War!Poet, professor and circus clown,Chimney-sweeper and fop o' the town,Into the pot and be melted down:Into the pot of War!

Women all, hear the call,The pitiless call of War!Look your last on your dearest ones,Brothers and husbands, fathers, sons:Swift they go to the ravenous guns,The gluttonous guns of War.

Everywhere thrill the airThe maniac bells of War.There will be little of sleeping to-night;There will be wailing and weeping to-night;Death's red sickle is reaping to-night:War! War! War!

Robert William Service

Page 15: War project

I liked this poem because it made me think of a more mid evil time period war. The picture is of course from a moddern war. That’s only because I couldn’t find any pictures that would go with this perticular poem. The author uses end rhyme thoughout the poem

Page 16: War project

P.O.W. (Prisoners Of War)Locked up in a cellThe prisoners of war light the fuse to the dynamiteThe door is blasted off the hingesThe prisoners of war escape through the opening where the door was

Enemy soldiers, one by one, are notifiedAnd one by oneThey try to take down the prisoners of war

War isn't prettyWar is hell

The enemy soldiers break out the guns and knivesReady to take the prisoners of war downBut the prisoners of war do a wonderful job of fighting and staying aliveMore enemy soldiers are dispatchedSome climb down or drop off laddersSome flip and somersaultSome continue walking and running on the ground

After dispatching the enemy soldiersThe prisoners of war climb the ladderTo where they can plan their escapeTo where they can make their escapeTo where they can escape in a helicopterLeaving the life of war far behind Justin Gildow

Page 17: War project

This poem does contradict a poem from before and im going to contradict what I had said earlier. While war has its certain beauties, the heavier realities deminish those beauties. War is hell theres no other way to describe it. The brave men and women who protect us face the real possibilities of ending up in a modern day P.O.W. camp. The author looks like they used free verse in this poem.

Page 18: War project

Field of BattleForced are the troops of battle, Into the field of war, of war.Feed on their movement, general, As a leader of war, of this battle.

I, a troop, have forced my mind Into the war of my dreams, Into the fire of my wishes; They are like dread and scare.

To belittle a young man, who is a soldier, A fighter, born of the skill to fight and parry, Is never agreeable in the eyes of the warlord, The hard man or woman, the harsh chief.

Punishment awaits those who excel at war crimeAnd force is a force that fades from powerTo weak pull, a reaction to the enemy, A full explosion for them who oppose.

Swords and crossbows are the implementsThat win the war more than anything else.Your horse is put to death, the standard-bearersAre put down for their bravery, gallantry.

Forced are the troops of battle, Into the field of war, of war.Feed on their movement, general, As a leader of war, of this battle.

Page 19: War project

The poem here is another one that reminds me of a mid evil time period war. I had used the moddern picture again to show the evolution from the sword and crossbows to high tech weaponry.

Page 21: War project

I chose this poem because it brings out the hidden truth of war. Everyone knows war is hard for everyone expecially the soldiers. This poem is a soldier who commits suicide. Revealing this hidden part of war, a major problem. I feel the author used end rhyme in this poem.

I love football and friends.Respect is important to me.Kindness is important to me.

Dedication is important to me.Unselfishness is a good thing.

Quick temper is bad, but can show who you really are.

People are getting more irrational. The world is getting lazy.

People are to hateful.I am.
