Tim Grotton
Position: Transfer Station Attendant
Former Position: Transfer Station Manager
Years of Employment: 8
Tim started working for the town in 2013. He is the former Transfer
Station Manager and Transfer Station Committee member, and he now
works as a Transfer Station Attendant. Tim has played a big role in the
development of the workflow of the transfer station. His hard work and
dedication over the years does not go unnoticed.
Tim loves hunting and decorating for the holidays! It is very typical that
his house is one of the most decorated for Christmas and Halloween!
If you see Tim be sure to congratulate him on 8 years of employment
with the Town of China.
China Food Pantry
Struggling to buy fuel and pay for groceries? The China Food Pantry can help on your
food bill, thus freeing up money for other necessities. Come visit us: 1320 Lakeview

Community donations of food items (put on the front porch) or money contributions are
always welcome (PO Box 6012, China Village, ME 04926). We are a town of neighbors
who help each other.
I would like to thank everyone who patiently waited for service last Thursday while we held our staff training
and appreciation. Some employees had never met each other due limitations brought on by the pandemic. Staff
appreciated the opportunity to complete some training, enjoy a lunch prepared by chef Josh Crommett and
sous-chef Josh Ross from our public works department and share a laugh or two. Each employee was presented
with a Town of China t-shirt which says “Making a difference in our community every day” because this is our
ultimate goal.
The Town of China is very fortunate to have the loyal, thoughtful, and dedicated employees we do. I enjoy
when residents tell me about employees who have gone above and beyond. We appreciate our municipal
employment and know that we are here to serve you, our residents.
On behalf of all municipal employees, I would like to thank our veterans for their service. With your dedication
and commitment, our country will remain the land of the free because of the brave men and women who serve.

Donna Loveland Donna is a retired teacher from the
China school system where she dedicated her life for many years. Donna
volunteers at the China Community Food Pantry every week and has done so
for the past few years faithfully and tirelessly for several hours every
Saturday. She never wavered through the transitional times of COVID-19.
She lifts heavy boxes of produce, inspects the donated produce, then
packs and prepares food boxes to go out to those in need in the China
community. Even after the pantry is closed for the day, she delivers food to shut-ins and spends time with them.
Donna is even willing to show up at a moment’s notice to help with other projects at the pantry when needed. Donna is a reliable volunteer who
dedicates her time to others.
KVCAP Heating Assistance (HEAP) Home Energy Assistance Program
Kennebec Valley Community Action Program offers Fuel Assistance to qualifying
households. The Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) serves Somerset, Kennebec,
Lincoln and Sagadahoc counties, providing assistance for income eligible households to
offset the rising costs of home energy, whether you have wood, electric, gas, or oil heat.
The benefit is paid directly to the client’s fuel vendor of choice.

Senior Day at the Town Portable Building

Programs Available Through Spectrum Generations
Meals on Wheels- The Meals on Wheels program provides delicious, nutritionally balanced meals for homebound individuals 60 years of age or older and to persons with a disability who are unable to prepare a meal due to physical or mental limitations, or who have no one to prepare a meal for them. Meals on Wheels are delivered to homes by our dedicated volunteers and staff. This also provides an opportunity to check in on the meal recipient as a safety measure.
Maine-ly Delivered Meals- Maine-ly Delivered Meals can be delivered according to your individual needs, benefiting the person's needs as well as the caregiver. Prepared meals are easy to heat, nutritionally balanced and delivered to your front door. Our delivery drivers also provide a safety check.
Are Maine-ly Delivered Meals right for you? -Do you not qualify for Meals on Wheels but want a home-delivered meal? -Are you currently on a Meals on Wheels waitlist? -Have you been discharged from the hospital or a skilled nursing facility and need meal service to assist in your recovery while you maintain independence in your own home? AniMeals- Spectrum Generations' AniMeals program began over a decade ago when we learned that some Meals on Wheels recipients did not have enough money to feed their pets and were sharing their delivered food with their companion animals. We worked with local veterinarians and many generous community partners to offer AniMeals in conjunction with Meals on Wheels. Often, our Meals on Wheels consumers live in rural areas and/or are socially isolated; many have companion pets, who are a source of support, comfort and friendship. Some research studies have found that people who have a pet have healthier hearts, make fewer visits to the doctor, get more exercise, and are less depressed. When calling simply let them know that you have a dog or a cat that you would like to receive food for, each week you will receive roughly a pound of food for your pet.
