Good Luck Mrs ChangOn Friday Mrs Chang made the tough decision to start her maternity leave early. Due to the current COVID-19 situation, she was saddened to be unable to say goodbye to everyone. We wish her and her family all the best as they prepare for a brand new bundle of joy to arrive. We are definitely looking forward to meeting the new addition when we get the all clear!

COVID-19In line with the advice provided by NSW Health the NSW Department of Education continues to encourage parents and carers to keep their children home if possible. It is important to remain up to date on the latest developments. Please check the Australian Government daily health alert: https://www.health.gov.au/news/health-alerts/novel-coronavirus-2019-ncov-health-alert and the NSW Department of Education updates: https://education.nsw.gov.au/covid-19.

From our ChaplainOur family and friends are one aspect of our lives that remains constant at this challenging time for many people. I encourage you to nurture these relationships and look for new and fun ways to keep in touch with loved

ones. I have sent home a challenge for students to use a variety of techniques

to keep in touch with friends and family during the school holidays. Please encourage them to try a few.

TRY A VIRTUAL VISIT TO MELBOURNE ZOO (LIVE ON-LINE)You can see animals being videoed live from inside their pens. The link is https://www.zoo.org.au/animal-house/ You could visit on one day or each day to check on the baby snow leopards (at various times) and see what they are doing. There are also zebras, giraffes and lions to take a peek at. See them moving about, doing what they do. Tree kangaroos and echidnas can also be seen directly from Healesville Sanctuary.

Students might like to keep a record of what the animals were doing at certain times and at what times the baby snow leopards were awake. They could get friends involved and compare how many they saw and what they were doing. Maybe get cousins or grandparents involved also. It would be fun to share their experiences with each other.

Enjoy your time together and stay safe.

Please contact me [email protected] if you are experiencing any difficulties or would like to talk with someone. I will do my best to assist.

Education channel for students learning from home

The ABC will expand television education lessons to help children learning at home during the COVID-19

pandemic, in a partnership with state and territory governments.

The educational programs will run from 10am to 3pm on ABC ME from April 14, and will include shows

such as Ecomaths, ScienceXplosion, Numberblocks and English on the Go. Teacher-led sessions will be developed with the assistance of education

departments, complementing 4,000 free videos and interactive resources.

ABC managing director David Anderson said the national broadcaster was ready to launch the extra

resources, in line with its charter requirement to broadcast programs of an educational nature.

Google 3D animals: how to see AR tigers, pandas, lions, penguins and sharks on Google

For parents with children staying indoors, this provides a fun new way to learn about their favourite animals.

How do I view 3D animals on Google?1. To use the feature, you’ll need to google an animal, for example: ‘giant panda’.2. Just underneath the image search results and the Wikipedia description of the panda, you’ll be able to see a

little box that says, “Meet a life-sized giant panda up close”. 3. Click the ‘view in 3D’ button, then click ‘view in your space’ to see the panda in your own surroundings.

You’ll need to give Google access to your camera for it to be able to insert the panda into your space.

What animals can you find? There are loads of different animals you can see through the feature, including a lion, tiger, cheetah and shark. But the list is endless - you and your kids could discover many more animals to learn about.

What does AR enabled mean?In order to access this feature, your device will need to be AR enabled.

For Android users, Google requires an operating system of Android 7.0 or later, originally shipped with the Google Play store already installed, and internet access.

For iPhone users, you need to be running iOS 11.0 or later. You’ll likely already be running iOS 11.0 or later, but if you’re not sure, simply head to your settings > general and then tap software update. If there is a software update available, hit download and install.
