    A Transition Talk is a one-on-one meeting

with a staff member dedicated to transfer

students to talk about your unique transition

to UNCW. Examples of topics include setting

goals, getting involved on campus, finding a

mentor, applying for internships, and more!

If you're interested in requesting a Transition

Talk, use the Transition Talks survey and a

staff member will reach out to you to

schedule a day and time to meet!

  • TRANSFER TIPSThe UNCW Guidebook App is a lifesaver! I use it for

orientation, the campus map, parking, and campus

events. It is a great resource for your first semester and

    beyond.

Take advantage of Wilmington; go to the beach, meet

new people, have all of the experiences! College goes by

quickly so getting adapted to your new home is a great

    way to make memories!

Always keep your mind open to the new during your

first semester. If you wish you had gotten involved in

something at your previous school, find something

similar here and try it out. It may be scary at first

because everything is new but treat your first semester

as a wide open door and explore all the possibilities of

    your new home!

Don't be afraid to ask questions! Campus has a plethora

of resources to help with anything and everything.

Utilize the resources if you want to be successful; after

    all, you're paying for them!

You will find your way around campus. You will meet

new friends. Get to know professors and classmates.

Come to Teal Bridge and meet transfer friends to

understand you. You have to study and work hard but

    have fun!!

UNCW is one of the most accepting campuses I've ever

stepped on. Get to know your peers and dive into the

universities diverse community by getting involved in all

the clubs you can! You never know what could be the

perfect spot for you so go for whatever you find

    interesting!

    17

  • STUDY SPOTSMy favorite spot on campus are the swings by Fisher!

They are very relaxing and are nice for when you just

    need a little break!

I like the library because it's quiet and I can concentrate

    and study.

The library is my favorite spot. It's a good place to study

but also a social place to work with others.

My favorite place on campus is Dunkin Donuts. It gives

me my morning caffeine for the day and the lady who

works there (Sandy) is super sweet.

My favorite place on campus is definitely the second floor

of the lib! It's so nice to have a quiet place I can count on

    to get work done!

My favorite spot on campus is Randall Library. There are

plenty of comfy study spots on both floors and you can

reserve rooms for group study and projects. The second

floor has a quiet study space if you really need to focus.

Tables by the Burney fountain when the weather is nice

and the Computer Information Systems study room.

My favorite spot on campus is the top floor of the

Education building. There are big tables perfect for long

study sessions and the interior architecture of the

building is so pretty, I love the huge windows and high

ceilings. It's easily my favorite study spot.

My favorite spot on campus is the area of tables and

couches beside the Starbucks in Fisher Student Center. I

love to go there in the morning before class to study or

do homework, it's extremely convenient too if you like

    coffee!

My favorite spot would be near the clock tower on a

sunny day. Just because there are so many people in that

    area doing so many activities.

    18

  • WEEKENDSMy favorite thing to do on the weekend is to go to

the beach (as long as it is somewhat nice out!)

My favorite thing to do is to socialize with friends. Go

watch movies in Lumina Theater. Go to the beach

and relax. I like to watch basketball and baseball

    games if UNCW is home.

I enjoy getting outdoors- going to the beach,

kayaking, and even just walking around downtown.

My favorite thing to do on the weekend is sleep and

    relax.

I love going to the beach and taking my dog to Hugh

    McRae Park!

My favorite thing to do on the weekend is to go

downtown to the Riverwalk! There are so many cool

shops and restaurants to check out and many of

    them overlook the river.

I enjoy getting out and about with friends. There's so

    much to do in Wilmington!

Hanging out with my friends and family.

On the weekends I am always either on the boat, at

the beach, or running/walking the Wrightsville Beach

Loop! There are so many fun things to do out and

indoors in Wilmington and surrounding areas- the

    options are endless!

My favorite thing to do on the weekend is to go

downtown and wander through all of the shops.

There's always a new store opening up to explore, or

a new food spot to try out. Although south end of

Wrightsville at sunset will always be my favorite spot.

    19

  • PLACES TO EATOn campus, I love to go to Dunkin Donuts and Off-

Campus I love to go to Peño!

I like to eat at Hawk Nest on campus. I like to eat

Islands, McAlister's and PTs off campus. All of these

    places have good food!

My favorite places to eat are Island Tacos, Mission

BBQ, and Cape Fear Seafood Company.

My favorite place to eat on campus is Dunkin'

Donuts. Not for the food, but for the coffee!

Islands!! $1 tacos after 5 can't be beat!

My favorite place to eat on campus is Green Spot in

Fisher. They have great healthy options for a variety

of dietary needs. My favorite place to eat off campus

    is BlockTaco! Best tacos ever!

Flaming Amy's and Indochine are my two favorite

    local spots around town!

Copper Penny!! I mean have you tried their chips? It's

    a no brainer.

My absolute favorite place to eat off campus is Tower

7 at the beach. They also have 3 sister locations - K38

on Oleander, K38 in Porters Neck, and Kbueno in The

Forum! My favorite place on campus is Green Spot

    located in Hawks Nest!

Favorite place to eat in Wilmington is Ceviches. It's a

family owned local Panamanian restaurant right off

of Wrightsville Beach. Easily the best ceviche I've

ever had, amazing guac, and great drinks. If you've

never been make sure to try it out next time you go

    out to eat.
