Christmas is just around the corner! At least, it

seems like it when you’re getting ready for an

event like this.

We’ll be turning Bethlehem into a real Christmas festival with

caroling, a huge light display, dramas, performance by the bell choir,

and a live nativity.

This festival is a fantastic opportunity for you, the Bethlehem family,

to host an amazing Christmas party for our whole community; Friday,

Saturday & Sunday, December 12, 13 & 14 from 7:00 to 9:00 PM.

We have surprises in the works to draw major attention to this event,

so you won’t want to miss the chance to help make it amazing.

Consider helping with: Baking, Caroling, Cleanup, Greeter,

Decorating, Live Nativity, Parking, Storytelling.

WOMEN'S CHRISTMAS BREAKFAST: SATURDAY, DECEMBER 6

You are invited to join us for a wonderful morning to begin the Advent

Season on Saturday, December 6 from 9 - 11am.

Our Christmas breakfast will include a wonderful assortment of food,

sweet fellowship, songs and an inspirational message by Dee Dee

Cass, entitled "Faith Strong - Continuance in the Grace of God." All

women and teens are welcome. Bring a friend. Please sign up in

advance.

We will be collecting items to support Chester County Women's

Services - baby wipes, diapers & new clothing sizes up to 4T. Though

we do not charge for this event, a free will offering will be collected to

defray expenses. Your help pre-event (Friday at 6pm) and post-event

is greatly appreciated. Hope to see you there!

CLOSING OUT THE YEAR OF PRAYER - PRAYERFULLY

I believe that in the history of BUMC, 2014 will stand out as a defining year

that establishes a spiritual trajectory that will take us well into our future.

In late 2013, Pastor Tim announced that 2014 would be a “Year of Prayer”.

We did a church-wide study of prayer through Mark Batterson’s book, The

Circle Maker. On our final week of preaching the series we, as a

congregation, went outside and physically circled our church and prayed

freely for a minute. The steeple bell was rung and we raised our voices

together in a shout of victory. It is a day I will never forget! I believe in those

moments we re-established ourselves as a church that would wholly believe

and trust in the Lord.

We have continued to preach and teach on prayer in all the various venues in

our church throughout the year. So the question is, how do you conclude a

year that started like that? Well, the answer is, prayerfully. If you recall, in

Batterson’s book, he mentioned a 40 day prayer challenge. He published a

book entitled DRAW THE CIRCLE to facilitate the prayer challenge. It is a

40 Day Devotional that we would love to use to end our year. We will not be

using this as sermon material, we are simply challenging the church family to

read through the book together as we close out the final 40 days of 2014.

The books are available for free (one per household please). You may make a

donation if you desire but it is not required. I would encourage you to go

through the book whenever you can – it is simply a good 40 day devotional

whenever you use it, but if you are able, it would be awesome to do it

together. To that end, the first reading would begin on Sat, Nov 22 and end on

Dec 31. For those of you who receive the daily prayer tweets, each day during

our 40 days the prayer tweet will come from the reading of the day.

Please join me and the other Pastors as we continue to uphold our church

family in prayer and especially so in the last 40 Days of this year. I pray that

many of you have established new prayer habits that will continue on for

many years to come – I know I have! I can’t wait to see all that the Lord has

for us as we continue to diligently seek Him in the New Year. - Pastor Tom

PLEASE BE SURE TO PICK UP YOUR BOOK TODAY!

1 THESS. 5:17 – NEVER STOP PRAYING.
