• What is vxCPRS?– Adapted from the VA developed Computerized Patient Record System by

vxCPRS Coversheet:The Cover Sheet is the first screen you see after opening a patient

record (unless the site or user defines another tab as the initial screen as part of local configuration).

– The Cover Sheet displays an overview of a patient’s condition and history.

– It shows active problems, allergies and postings, active medications, clinical reminders, recent lab results, last vitals, a list of appointments or visits, and immunizations.

vxCPRS Problems Tab:– The problems list on the Problems tab displays a patient’s current

and historical health care problems.

– The problems list allows each identified problem to be traced through the VXVISTA system.

– The problems are ICD-9 based and can be separated into Medical/Surgical, Family, or Social categories

– Providers/Specialties can have lists of often treated problems created for simplified selection

vxCPRS Meds Tab:– The Meds tab contains a list of medications for the

selected patient. Inpatient, outpatient, and Meds/OTC from Elsewhere (including non-prescription and herbal) medications are listed in separate sections of the window.

– By clicking on a medication, more detailed information about the drug, who ordered it, comments, etc… can be reviewed

vxCPRS Orders Tab:– From the Orders tab, you can write new orders and view existing

orders for the selected patient.

– You can also create personal quick orders , specialty or disease specific common order menus, and order sets that make the ordering process more efficient and user friendly.

– The Orders tab also allows you to quickly access information about each order such as which services the orders are associated with, the start and stop dates for each order, the name of the provider (or nurse or clerk) that entered the order, and the status of the order.

vxCPRS Notes Tab:– From the Notes tab you can create new progress notes for a patient

and view existing progress notes and documents. – You can also create templates to allow you to quickly and efficiently

enter progress notes.– Documents on the Notes tab are organized in a tree structure on

the left side of the screen.– If you are using DSS vxDocManager to scan and index paper

records, an image icon will appear next to a note that has an image linked to it; clicking the icon will pull up the scanned image for review

vxCPRS Consults Tab:– Consults are requests from one clinician to a hospital,

service, or specialty provider for a procedure or other service.

– Consults can be internal/interdepartmental, intradepartmental between providers, or printed and sent to external providers.

– If results come back that are not electronic/interfaced, the consult results can be scanned into the system using an add-on tool called DSS vxDocManager.

vxCPRS Surgery Tab:– The Surgery Tab can be enabled or

“hidden”/suppressed depending on your site configuration.

– If enabled, you can view signed operative reports generated in the vxVistA Surgery package.

– These reports include the Operation Report, Nurse Intraoperative Report, Anesthesia Report and Procedure Report.

vxCPRS Labs Tab:

– Results of lab tests that were ordered for a selected patient can be viewed.

– The fields on the left side of the Labs tab list available lab results. – For some reports, you may need to specify a date range or specific

tests.– Labs and other chart elements such as vitals, medications, health

factors, and more can be graphed side-by-side for instant views of trends and changes over time

vxCPRS Reports Tab:– The Reports Tab in vxCPRS is preconfigured with a

variety of reports containing patient information. – These reports can be customized by facilities so that

they are more useful to their users; Health Summary Objects can be built to pull specific types of data into one place.

– Providers can generate an Ad-hoc Health Summary on-the-fly by selecting various elements of data for a patient and see it displayed in an organized and coherent fashion.
