Setup Guide of Jabber Voice in Android (4.0-4.2)

Before start making call with Jabber Voice, please follow this setup guide to install:

(1) VPN Client app and

(2) Jabber Voice app

VPN stands for Virtual Private Network which allows you to make secure connection back to the

telephone system of Lingnan University. You must connect to VPN when you use the Jabber Voice

off-campus.

Jabber Voice is an app that allows you to make phone calls with your Android Phone over the

Internet network.

Setup Procedures

1. Open Play Store, Search Jabber Voice

2. Jabber Voice is a free application. Click Install.

3. After the installation, you can run the application. Accept and Begin Setup.

4. Tick all boxes and input following information

Device ID: botXXXXXXXX (xxxxxxxx is the Jabber password generated when you registered)

Server Address: 10.0.202.203

Tab Verify after you have input correct information.

5. If your mobile is connected to Lingnan Wi-Fi LUWLAN1X, and all information is correct, the status

icon on the top will be . It is ready to use. Remember press 9 before making a call.

6. If the icon remains , it implies:

- Your mobile is not connected to Lingnan Wi-Fi, you must setup VPN in order to register the Jabber

phone. (See step 7 to 13).

- If not, you should double-check if the setting is correct. Click setting key of your phone and choose

setting, and ensure those items are on.

7. Download F5 BIG IP Edge Client from Play Store. This app enables your phone to use Jabber Voice off

campus (i.e. not connecting to Lingnan Wi-Fi). Search f5 edge client.

8. Open the app and select Configure Server. Then select Add Configuration.

9. Touch Name and input Vpn.

Touch Server and input vpn.ln.edu.hk.

Touch Username to input your Lingnan email id.

Touch Password to input your Lingnan password.

10. When the above procedures are completed, back to previous page. Press Connect to make

connection. (Please be sure your device has Internet connection before connect)

11. There will be a warning pop up. Click Yes to continue.

12. When the Status is Connected, you can use Jabber Voice now. Attention: Remember press 9 before

making a call.
