VOTE @ 16FAHIM ZEB

The right to vote @16We live in a democratic country. 16 and 17 years almost almost had a chance to vote in the EU referendum. MPs blocked the plan that the House of Lords tried initiating. In the Scottish Independence Referendum approximately 75% of 16 and 17 year olds voted The turnout of people aged 18-21 was 54%

My campaign is all about the right to vote for 16 year olds. It targets a very controversial issue which at times leaves the nation divided. The fact that young people who are old enough and mature enough to cast a vote are denied their right in doing so is disgusting , even though we live in a democratic fuelled country. Recently , 16 and 17 year olds almost had a chance to vote in the EU referendum , unfortunately many MPs blocked the plan that the house of lords tried initiating. Furthermore just before the EU referendum there was a Scottish Independence Referendum , which allowed 16 and 17 year olds to vote , approximately 75% of them participated and casted their votes. The turnout of people aged 18-21 was 54% ,which just goes to shows that young people are ready and more eager than older people to vote.

Who is my audience? My target audience is a mix of people: My primary audience are those aged 16-17My secondary audience are MPs who have the power to actually debate on this issue and get it passed in parliamentI am also targeting parents who have children at the age of 16

My target audience is a mix of people. I believe my primary audience are those aged 16-17, this is because they are the people who are being denied the right to vote. My secondary audience are MPs as they are the ones who have the power to actually debate on this issue and essentially have a shot at getting it passed in parliament. Furthermore I urge those who are parents and have children at the age of 16 , to help and support the cause , as every parent is concerned about their children's future.

What is my message? My message is that the general public should consider allowing 16 and 17 year olds to vote. If you allow them to be treated as adults then let them participate in local and general elections. All over the country 16 year olds are being treated like adults. At college and work 16 year olds are also required to pay tax if they are working and they have to pay the adult fare for a train ticket.

Poster Campaign In terms of posters, I want to create a landscape poster, this is so that it can look good on all types of digital and non-digital platforms. It would be ideal to advertise on digital platforms as my primary target audience is constantly using social media. I want it to look as professional as possible. I will try to make it stand out by using bold colours.

Radio Advert CampaignFor my radio advert, I will record my voice and add in the voices of other 16 year olds who also believe in the cause. Furthermore I will try to get them to name an MP who also backs the cause. This will help to give my campaign exposure as it will get the audience thinking about their MP. Additionally I will urge those help and spread the word. I will use a high quality microphone to ensure that the voice of myself and others are at a good level of sound.

7

TV Advert CampaignFor my TV advert I will produce an advert which will feature 16 and 17 year olds who want to vote and state why they want to vote. It will feature different types of people in one area. The camera angle I will use will just be close up and medium close up shot. I may use external footage that I can get online maybe of the houses of parliament. Preferably in an area with a white background and good lighting. I am going to film my advert with a good quality camera which can record in 1080p and edit the footage in Adobe premier.

Secondary Researchhttp://www.votesat16.org/about/supportive-politicians/ This was used in my Facts slide. It gave me information how many 16 and 17 year olds are being denied the vote as well as the amount of MPs MEPs Etc are backing the cause

http://www.debatingeurope.eu/2015/05/14/should-16-year-olds-be-allowed-to-vote/#.WAdP9f6QyUk This source was very helpful as it gave me information on the Scottish independence Referendum and the information on other countries.
