125th Anniversary of the ordination of Louisa Woosley, first ordained woman in our denomination.
The Doctor What do you want to be when you grow up? A common question children and teens are often asked about by parents, teachers, and even friends. I’ve always answered the commonly asked question: “I want to be a doctor!” The type of doctor would always change from a family doctor to a pediatrician to a obstetrician/gynecologist. The job of a doctor is to care for the patient in their time of need. Caring for the patient is more than writing up a prescription or looking in their ear but actually listening to the patient to see how they feel and trying to help them to the best of your ability. As a Christian, I believe in God to help and care for me when I’m sick. God sent forth people that will serve in his army to be nurses and doctors that will take care of his children on Earth. I intend on being one of those soldiers who will serve God in helping and caring for others in their time of need. By: Racquel McCrary Science and Technology is Changing Science and Technology is changing every day. I believe this change will have an impact on people’s lives whether they are prepared or not. Medicine, astronomy, computers, cell phones, satellites, and televisions have changed significantly in just a few short years. They have also advanced in ways that many could have not dreamed of. I believe that it is very important that we educate our young and elderly so they will be prepared for this rapid change in society. It is my goal to institute programs for reading to the young, the elderly, and poor to share my experiences by conducting hands-on demonstrations on how to use up to date technology. As an engineer, I will help create programs to help share what the rapid changing world has to offer them… Written By: Tiara Strong Tiara’s complete Essay can be found on the Church Bulletin Board

Pastor’s Corner
“In beginning or in end March its gifts will send. Be joyful, it’s almost Spring.” Our clocks have
sprung forward and the 2014 Lenten Journey has begun, a time for reflection, repentance, and renewal.
Did you accept the Lent Challenge of scripture readings? Remember, if you complete the challenge
you would have read the New Testament in its entirety.
Our Annual Revival has come and gone. We were blessed beyond measure to have the Rev. Dr. Perryn
Rice as our evangelist. Dr. Rice is the new pastor of the Lake Highlands Presbyterian Church, Dallas
Texas. I agree with so many of you, in that this revival, this preacher, was most refreshing. We have
been revived, refreshed, and renewed. Pastor Rice challenged us in his sermons each night:
Monday: “I Almost Slipped, But” Psalm 73
Tuesday: “God Hears Your Cry” Genesis 21:17-18
Wednesday: “Remember the Good Times” Psalm 105: 1-5
Each message blessed us, challenged us, and caused us to think about our lives, our families, and our
relationship with the Lord. Our last night of revival was most climatic in that one (1) soul was saved.
Sister Mattie Smith accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior. We are rejoicing with the angels in heaven as
one more soul has been saved and her name added to “The Lamb’s Book of Life.”
HALLELUJAH!!!
Peace Be Unto You,
Endia J. Scruggs
Pastor
Greetings,
Since the arrival of 2014, we have been non-stop at “The Loving Place.”
Starting the year off, we hosted the 2014 Cumberland Presbyterian Ministers
Conference during the week of January 14-17, 2014. I’m thankful for the
Madkins Chapel Church Family in that you were most gracious and hospitable
in hosting this event. I continue to receive correspondance from conference
attendees praising out efforts in hosting this event. Again, thank you!
During our observance of Black History in February, we were excited to have
our “Moment in Black History” recognize one of our own, Huntsville Police
Officer and S.W.A.T. team member, Officer Jason Moore. It was good to
share with our congregation that we are still making HISTORY. We are very
proud of Officer Moore! Additionally, we were blessed to have as our Black
History Speaker, the Reverend Marty Tipton, Associate Minister of the First
Missionary Baptist Church. Our church family was blessed by his presence
and his spirit-filled message.

Lil Humor Dear God, So far today, I've done all right. I haven't gossiped, and I haven't lost my temper. I haven't been grumpy, nasty or selfish, and I'm really glad of that! But in a few minutes, God, I'm going to get out of bed, and from then on, I'm probably going to need a lot of help. !!!!!!!! Thank you! Amen
