Sermons. The common bond forall of our Friends is an unwaver-ing belief in God, and faith thatHe will answer when they prayfor His help. For example, on Page 19 you’ll

learn about Member Carolyn W.,of Georgia, who found herself ina life-threatening situation whenher car rolled back in her drive-way, knocking her down andtrapping her underneath. “I began calling on the name

of Jesus, with all my might,” sherecalled, pleading, “God, pleasehelp me! Lord, help me push thiscar off my leg!I started pushing the tire with

all my might, and with the helpof God I was able to push the tireoff my thigh. It then grabbed theinside of my leg, and still inpain, I began calling for Godagain. I said, “Lord, You saidwhatever I ask in Your name Youwill do it. Lord, let someone hearme or come down the street.”Amazingly, Carolyn’s neigh-

bor’s dog watched her entireordeal, and walked out into thestreet when the neighbor’sdaughter drove up. The dog actu-ally indicated something waswrong by staring at Carolyn, until the daughter walked overto see what the dog was lookingat. Carolyn is certain the Lord

had a Hand in everything thattranspired. God has a way of sending peo-

ple to help at the right time, andHe used a dog as an angel to callattention to my plight. Thanks

to Him, I’m alive!”Carolyn’s faith certainly

played a role in keeping hercalm throughout her ordeal, andwe’re glad she’s going to be OK. Then, on Page 11 Kaley S. of

Alabama thought an airplanedetour to a different airportwould force her to miss a long-awaited Christmas reunion. Butshe prayed to God asking for asolution to the problem, and wasoverjoyed when a relative walkedinto the airport to pick her up. Faith is the unbreakable bond

that links these two Members, and supports you as well. For weknow the Lord watches out for usand helps us resolve problems, according to our needs. We hopeyou find our magazine lifts upyour faith, Dear Friend, and thatthe New Year is a bright andrewarding one for you!

Christmastime is filled withthe best experiences . . . sharingfood and friendship with lovedones and the warmth of renew-ing your spiritual faith. And yet, Dear Member, when

you think about the events lead-ing up to the birth of Jesus, it’san amazing list of occurrenceswe would consider improbable,or even impossible, today! Here is a list of things that

had to happen to createChristmas as we know it:●A decree from Caesar

Augustus that everyone shouldreturn to their hometowns to beregistered and taxed.●An angel appearing to Mary.●A virgin giving birth.●An angel coming to Joseph in

a dream to reassure him thechild is a Son of God.●Jesus’ parents-to-be travel to

Bethlehem and arrive to find theinn is already full, but a stable isavailable.●A baby is born, wrapped in

rags and placed in a feedingtrough.●A mysterious star appears in

the east, leading the magi to theright place in Bethlehem to seeJesus. They bring him gifts ofgold, frankincense and myrrh.●Angels appear to shepherds.Any one or two of these things

that happened probably would

be considered a tall tale today. But, all of them had to occur tobring us the birth of Jesus andthe wondrous events thatformed the early part of His life. All those things are part of the

wonder of Christmas, DearFriend, and it gives you an ideaof how important this specialseason is to people of faitharound the World. Without thebirth of Christ, there would beno Christmas. All of us would bepoorer in spirit without Hisunselfish example of lovetoward others. As we celebratethe beauty of this season, let usremember it isn’t presents, goodfood or trinkets that defineChristmas. It is the spirit of loveand kindness within us that is atribute to the Son of God whowalked the Earth long ago.

“I Ended Up Having A WonderfulChristmas With My Family!”

My Christmas vacation wasn’tsupposed to turn out like this! That’s what I told myself as I saton a hard airport bench late atnight, waiting to get on anotherplane after my flight had beencanceled. My heart sank as Ithought about the holiday festivi-ties I was going to miss, especiallythat reunion with a special auntand uncle I hadn’t seen for years. How did I get here? Well, my

friends, over the summer I hadcarefully planned out my trip upnorth to visit my cousins. Ibought my plane ticket to fly outof my home in the South, and intoa major airport near my cousins. My favorite aunt and uncle alsowere traveling to the home of mycousins, their children. A big din-ner was planned for this lovelyoccasion and I figured I had plen-ty of time to get there after myplane reached the airport. I just didn’t plan on my air-

plane’s left engine blowing up andforcing the pilot to land at an air-port over 50 miles away. The exas-perated ticket agents promised uspassengers they would bring inanother aircraft, but it wouldn’tarrive until the next day! As I watched snow fall softly

outside the big windows of theterminal, my eyes teared up and Irealized I was going to miss myfamily’s special dinner. I been aMember of Fellowship since Iwas a little girl, so I closed my

eyes and began to pray. “O Lord,”I pleaded, “please help me find away to reach my cousin’s houseas soon as possible.” I didn’t real-ly expect an answer, but I’vealways prayed for God’s assis-tance with big problems. I figureda damaged airplane and no othermeans of transportation was bigenough to tell Him about it. And would you believe it, God

answered me! Not by voice, ofcourse, but by leading my familyto send a wonderful man to getme! Most everyone else had leftthe terminal when a young manapproached me and said he was anephew of my beloved aunt anduncle. He offered to drive me tomy family reunion and I quicklytook him up on the offer. On theway, this young man told me myrelatives had put off the familydinner until the next day so Icould be there. I ended up having a wonderful

Christmas with my family, thanksto the Lord hearing my prayerand sending help!

Member Frances P. fromOklahoma asked us to republishan old Christmas feature frommany years ago to remind us ofthe real reason behindChristmastime each year.

As we celebrate anotherChristmas Season, our thoughtsnaturally turn to that very firstChristmas Day. Back throughthe years we go, and in ourhearts we can see the tiny babyJesus lying in a manger.

Joyfully we recall this won-drous miracle of His Birth! Themiracle of Christmas! And thereis still another miracle we cankeep and treasure always. Fornot only does the ChristmasSeason herald the birth of ourLord. It also reminds us of Hismiracle of everlasting, stead-fast, unchanging love!

Jesus never changes! That isthe miracle for all time!

As we are told in the Book ofHebrews, Chapter 13: Verse 8 ...“Jesus Christ the same yester-day, and to-day, and for ever.”

Dear Friend, we feel that thoseare some of the most beautiful

words in the entire Bible! Theyare warm with hope and glow-ing with promise!

“Jesus Christ the same yester-day, and to-day, and for ever.”

He has not changed one bitover the span of years.Yesterday He loved and under-stood you. Today He loves andunderstands you. And for everthis tender love and infiniteunderstanding are yours.

Jesus is the same. Even as wehave read and experienced thewondrous deeds He did performin the past, so may we beassured that now, and on intothe future, Jesus will continue tobe a never-failing, never-endingsource of strength and comfortto all who love Him.

Doesn’t it make you feel goodto know that Our Lord is alwaysthe same? He is the KindlyShepherd for ever and ever.

Unlike earthly friends, or evenrelatives, who might changefrom time to time, Jesusremains the same. He remainsnear to you regardless of thehour or the place. His mercy, Hiscompassion, His help are allthings you can depend on with-out doubt, without change.

And what a beautiful miraclethat is . . . to know that Jesusremains the same . . . yesterday, and today, and for ever!

Over The Years, We May ChangeBut Jesus Stays The Same!

Dear Friends in Fellowship, I wanted to take this opportu-

nity to share a life-changingexperience I had over a decadeago. It was at that time that mylife almost came to an abruptend, but God saw fit to let melive.

I came home from an off-sitevisit with my office, and as I doevery afternoon, I stopped at theend of the driveway. I got out ofmy car to get the mail from themailbox, thinking I had put thecar in park, and left it running.Instead, I had left the car in gear.As I got out, my car startedrolling in reverse and knockedme down to the ground in anawkward position. The tire onthe driver’s side rolled onto myright thigh, pinning me underthe car!It felt as though my thigh was

going to be cut in half. And, Ilived at the end of a dead-endstreet, with no houses close tomine. I screamed as loud as Icould for what seemed likehours, but no one heard me. Ibegan losing circulation in myleg and was becoming dehydrat-ed. At that time I rememberedthat when no one else is there tohelp me, I can always call uponthe Lord. So, I began calling onthe name of Jesus, with all mymight, asking, “God, please helpme! Lord, help me push this car

off my leg!” I started pushingthe tire with all my might, andwith the help of God I was ableto push the tire off my thigh. Itthen grabbed the inside of myleg, and still in pain, I begancalling for God again. I said,“Lord, You said whatever I askin Your name You will do it.Lord, let someone hear me orcome down the street.”During this whole ordeal my

neighbor’s dog was standing inthe street, staring at me. Inabout five to ten minutes, a carcame down the street. It was myneighbor’s daughter coming tovisit her parents. I screamed hername, but she didn’t hear me.The dog was still looking at me,though, and when the youngwoman got out of her car, itstared at her, then looked backtoward me. That made her walkto the end of the driveway to seewhat the dog was looking at, andshe saw me lying under the car. I was taken to the hospital,

and was lucky to have only somebad bruises. God has a way ofsending people to help at theright time, and He used a dog asan angel to call attention to myplight. Thanks to Him, I’m alive!

Some Members have inquiredabout how they might make abequest to Life-Study Fellowship.Through the years, many

Members have chosen to remem-ber our Fellowship in this spe-cial way and we are truly grate-ful. Some Members have includ-ed Fellowship in their wills, while others have named Life-Study Fellowship in their lifeinsurance policies. If you are interested in making

arrangements through your will,we suggest you talk with anattorney who can explain the taxadvantages and ways to go aboutmaking such a bequest.

Please remember that it is toeverybody’s advantage to have awill. This doesn’t apply just tothe very wealthy. The truth iseveryone who owns any propertyneeds a will to direct who shouldbenefit. Otherwise, some or all of your

property will be split up accord-ing to state law which may leaveyour property in ways you didnot want or intend. Therefore, whether or not you

include a bequest to Life-StudyFellowship, we encourage you toseek the services of an attorneyto have a will drawn up if youhave not already done so.

The theme of this FaithMagazine, the well knownChristmas carol "O Come, All YeFaithful,” is a holiday favoriteperformed from school plays tochurch and community choirs. It is a majestic hymn that

sings of glory to God in the high-est, and the joy we feel when wetruly believe in His good work. But we bet you didn’t know it

originally was written in Latinunder the name “AdesteFideles!” Another interestingfact many may not know is that“O Come All Ye Faithful” hasbeen attributed to several differ-ent authors who lived in the late1700s, or the mid-to-late 1600s. Most folks are familiar with

the first three or four verses ofthe hymn, but it actually wasextended to a total of eight vers-es, which have been translatedinto many languages. It was translated into English

by the English Catholic priestFrederick Oakeley in 1841, andis widely sung in most Englishspeaking countries. The currentharmonization is from theEnglish Hymnal (1906).In the United Kingdom and

United States it is often sungtoday in an arrangement createdby Sir David Willcocks, whichwas originally published in 1961by Oxford University Press inthe first book in the Carols forChoirs series. Although thehymn has eight verses, it is very

rare to see anyone sing all of thethem. Most only know the firstthree or perhaps four lyrics.Regardless, the hymn is a tra-

ditional crowd pleaser for itsinspirational message. That’swhy we chose it for this holidayedition of Faith Magazine, andwe hope you’ll like it here, too. We love our Christmas carols

here at Fellowship, because theybring a festive air to theChristmas season. They bringyoung and old together, too, asall ages enjoy singing them. That’s what Christmas is about,Dear Friend, messages of inspi-ration and faith, and bringingtogether family, friends andneighbors.

I have a story to tell my FellowMembers about a wonderfulexperience I had withFellowship’s Special HelpDepartment. I had been having a problem try-ing to sell my mother's homeafter she passed away. It is asmall house with only one bed-room and no basement, whichmade it difficult to sell in thisparticular area. The real estate agent was an oldfriend of mine, and I asked himto please handle the transactionfor me as soon as possible. Mymother's final wishes were to sellthe house without delay. Several months went by with noresponse, and I found myselfmowing an additional lawn, pay-ing the bills on the vacant houseand having to keep a constantcheck on the property. In desper-ation I wrote to the Special HelpDepartment asking for personalprayer guidance with this worri-

some matter. My wonderful Friends in the

Special Help Departmentresponded immediately, sendingme prayers with a helpful letter.Dear Members, those prayerstook away my anxiety, and as Isaid them I felt I was really hav-ing a heart-to-heart talk withGod! He was right there in my room

with me as I prayed. Three dayslater I was in the front yard at mymother's house cutting thehedges. A total stranger camewalking over to me and intro-duced himself. "I'm a real estate agent from out-of-town," he said, "and I have abuyer for this house if you'reinterested." That's how fast ithappened! Within two weeks thehouse was sold to a nice youngcouple who were the new owners. Just think! Nothing had hap-

pened for six months. Nobodyhad shown any interest in buy-ing the house. Then when I wroteto Fellowship and started pray-ing about the matter, God'sanswer came so quickly that Iwas amazed and delighted. It certainly goes to prove that

our Dear Lord is an ever presentpower, and I am thankful to Himand to all you, my FellowMembers, who pray for me andwith me each day. God bless you!
