“Lovely Birthday Card”

I thank you all for the lovelybirthday card you sent me, aswell as the prayers. Thank God Iwas healthy on my birthday, andable to spend it with my nephewand a friend. I put the card on mydresser in the bedroom and lookat it often. I am enclosing a con-tribution to your wonderfulFellowship, too, and kindly ask-ing you to pray for me. Recently, Iwent to the doctor and he said Iwas close to having diabetes. Hedidn’t prescribe any medicationfor me, but gave me instructionsabout the diet I should be follow-ing. “Now, I’m Making GoodMemories With God’s Help!”I sit here in front of a warm

fire writing to you, my Friendsin Fellowship. It will be severalmonths before winter loosens itsgrip on the World outside mywindow, and I am grateful forGod’s generous blessings. Lastwinter was a much differentstory; one I want to tell youabout. Last year at this time, I was

recently divorced from a man Ionce loved. We were madly inlove when we married, but itwasn’t long before I realized hehad a drinking problem. Evenworse, he became a different per-son when he drank . . . mean andinconsiderate to me and mydaughter from a previous rela-tionship. At first, I was shockedand didn’t know what to do. Howcould this be the man I married,I asked myself ? It was like wak-

ing up and finding a differentperson living in the same housewith us. I didn’t want to admit Ihad made such a terrible mis-take so I hid this growing prob-lem from my mother. But then, things got really

bad. My husband’s job paid mostof our bills, and he just stoppedpaying them. Our heat wasturned off in the middle of win-ter and it was freezing coldinside the house. I didn’t thinkthings could get worse, but onenight, they did. My husbandyelled at me, then punched myface. My daughter saw the wholething and screamed for him tostop. He slapped her and ran outthe door, jumped in the car andtook off. Well, Friends, that jolted me

into reality. I called my motherand told her everything. Then, Icalled the police. The officerstook my report, then stood bywhile I packed suitcases for meand my daughter, and my moth-er came to pick us up. My husband was arrested and

I filed for divorce from that hor-rible man soon after. I moved toanother town and found a goodjob to support me and my daugh-ter. And, I’ve prayed . . . a lot!I’m still living with Mom, but

Strength For The DayLittle Prayers For Life’s Everyday Situations

Dear Fellowship, For many years, I received

your Faith Magazine. I love thislittle book. It travels with meeverywhere I go. It is usuallynext to me as I drive. When Istop for traffic, I quickly reviewmy prayers. God has been good to me. He

has blessed me in many ways. Ihave sent for prayers and Godhas answered, but I do still facesome problems. That’s why I am asking you to

pray with me as I ask the Lord tohelp me be more obedient to Hiswords. I feel like if I am moreattentive to His teachings, I willbe more blessed. I have a situation that needs

attention. I won’t call it a prob-lem, but we are repairing ahouse to sell or rent. I pray thatJesus will guide us completely

in deciding which choice is rightfor us. We have been blessedwith most of the money for thecarpentry work, but we stillneed several thousand dollars tocomplete things in the house. Aswe struggle to make this a nicehome, I go there to pray that theLord will bless each room andwall, protect it and choose a fam-ily who will want this home andtake care of it. I love the Scripture that states,

“Let your requests be madeknown unto God,” Philippians4:6. I was introduced toFellowship and Faith Magazineby a lady that lived at the houseI mentioned earlier. She passedaway a long time ago, but as wewere cleaning the house wefound many old FaithMagazines, plus all kinds ofbooks and materials fromFellowship. I thank you for your prayers

and love as I read each edition ofFAITH. I also am writing torequest that you send me myown free Prosperity HarvestPlan! I can’t wait to get startedusing it and saving money. Ithink it will help me get ahead. Thank you again Fellowship,

When you keep love in yourheart and good thoughts in yourmind, you will find the Lord’sinspiration in the most surpris-ing places, Dear Member!When you least expect it, you

will suddenly feel His LovingKindness with you. And, wedon’t just mean during the timesyou pray, because it naturallyfollows you would feel close toGod during prayer time. No, we said you will feel His

Joyful Presence in “surprising”times . . . For example, youmight be putting the finishingtouches on a special dish in thekitchen, when you suddenly feelat peace, and a profound happi-ness. That’s the spirit of theLord nearby, and you can bethankful He is watching overyou. Or, perhaps you get up early in

the morning and get ready to goout. As the sun rises, you mayfeel His Presence in the new daydawning and be grateful for thefresh start you can make. And, suppose you’re out enjoy-

ing a social occasion withfriends. When you see the warmsmiles on the faces of your dearones, be thankful for goodfriends who would do anythingto help you. Yes, God’s spiritual love really

does come to us in surprisingtimes and places, Dear Friend.As long as your heart is open to

His message, and your faith inHim remains strong, He will beyour loyal companion. Whetheryou’re riding a bus, driving yourown car, shopping in a busystore or just taking a quiet walk,He is there for you. It’s true, whenever you’re feel-

ing down; when the World’sproblems are weighing heavy onyour thoughts, take heart! Youknow you can always call uponGod for help. No matter what you’re doing,

the Lord’s Loving Presencestands beside you, and that’s nosurprise. He is the greatest joyand comfort we can ever know.Even as you read this FaithMagazine, isn’t it wonderful tofeel Him nearby?

Dear Life-Study FellowshipFriends,I want to give you many

thanks for faithfully keeping intouch with me over all theseyears. Your prayers have meantso much to me!I was overwhelmed when God

opened up a door for me yester-day. I have been faithfully read-ing a special Fellowship prayerabout mortgage problems, andthe Lord has now smiled uponmy family.For about two to three years, I

have been asking the banks togrant me a modification to mymortgage, but they wouldalways deny me. I am self-employed, and my business hasbeen slow for the past threeyears. I no longer have a goodincome. Instead of modifyingmy mortgage, the banks wouldalways recommend that I do arefinancing, which would nothave been in our best interestbecause we would have had tobring more money to the clos-ing. Then, something wonderful

happened! Yesterday, after read-ing my special prayer again, Icalled the bank and the Lordprovided me with a very calmand understanding individualto speak with us. He gave us thenecessary preliminary instruc-tions about what we should dowithin a specific time period forour application to be considered

and possibly approved for amortgage modification. I am asking for continued

prayers for me and my familyduring this stressful and trou-bled time for us and ourfinances. We have had so manysleepless nights, and our modestsavings are almost depleted.Many nights we have gone tobed with almost nothing to eat,so we could make all of our billpayments. We prepared ourfinances for retirement, if welived long enough to see it, butnow we are desperately in needof God’s help. We are no longeryoung people with many yearsahead of us to catch up. We prayeach and every night for theLord’s help. We know there aremany other people out there insimilar situations, who alsoneed your prayers, and wethank you for your attention toour situation.

Dear Member, when things gowrong in your life, and let’s faceit, that happens to everyone atsome point, how do yourespond? Do you ask, “Why didthis happen to me?” . . . “Why didI have this car accident?” . . .“Why isn’t there enough moneyto get through each month?”Truth be told, all of us have

probably asked one or more ofthose questions, and there’s noshame in doing so. The chal-lenge is, how do you managethese common issues? You see, Dear Member, when a

sudden problem rears its uglyhead, it’s often hard to take thelong view, to believe that anygood can come from somethingbad. But that’s not necessarilytrue, as we’ll explain later. These kinds of problems hap-

pen all during our lives . . . . as ayoung child, a boy or girl, a mar-ried couple or single man orwoman. If we’re want to trulyresolve these concerns, we workwith the Lord to solve our prob-lems. And, if it’s a particularlychallenging issue, you’ll feel soaccomplished once you and Godwork together to fix it! Why?Because faith helps us conquerall of our problems. We’ll oftenfind that dealing with an espe-cially thorny issue onlystrengthens your faith, too. When faced with challenges,

first, we often say a Fellowshipprayer. Even if the problem is an

emergency, and you don’t haveFaith Magazine with you, youcan say a prayer silently or outloud. If you have copied yourDaily Bible Verses on paper andcarried them with you, theanswer to a prayer might beright in your hands. Otherwise, just say a simple

prayer and lay your concernsbefore the Lord. As you practicea daily prayer habit, you’llnotice there are fewer emer-gency problems popping up,because the issues are beinghandled before they become toobig. Yes, Dear Friend, you will

come to know the peace of God’sunderstanding, and learn Hereally does make all things worktogether for our greater good!

Dear Life-Study Fellowship,I have been a Member since

my teenage years, and I do nothave any intention of quitting!Praise God, for you and yourFaith Magazine, and yourSpecial Help Department. Wordscannot truly express my grati-tude and appreciation forFellowship just being there as asource of help and inspiration,and especially, hope in times ofdespair. Wisconsin sends this deliciousidea! Ingredients: 2 acorn squash . . .

1 can corned beef hash (15¼-ounce size) . . . ½ cup ketchup . . .¼ cup chopped onion.Cut the squash into halves,

remove seeds, place on cookiesheet with the cut side down.Bake in a 375-degree oven for 35minutes. Then, turn the squashover and fill each half with amixture of the corned beef hash,ketchup and onion that you havealready blended together. Returnto the oven and bake the squash20 minutes longer. It’s a meal!

Members Virginia B. andSusan B. wanted to share thisfast and easy way to make rolls. Ingredients: 2 cups self-rising

flour . . . 1 cup milk . . . four table-spoons of mayonnaise.

Mix all ingredients and putinto greased muffin tins. Therecipe makes 12 rolls. Bake for 20minutes at 425 degrees. Theserolls are so little trouble to make,and they’re so delicious!

CHOCOLATE PUDDINGThis recipe comes from

mix, ¾ cup sugar . . . 2 cups milk. . . 1 cup water . . . ½ cup cocoa.Blend all ingredients together

in a sauce pan. Cook over medi-um heat, stirring constantlyuntil it comes to a boil. Let theingredients boil for 1 minute.Pour into a buttered dish and letcool before serving. This recipeproduces a pudding with a richtaste, but one that won’t breakyour grocery budget!
