PRP - Balochistan: Under component I (Improved Classroom Learning Environment for Reading), 51 QTIG Meetings were conducted with a total of 51 participants (28 men and 23 women). 100 % target of conducting meetings was achieved for the report-ing month while 83% teachers actively participated in the meetings. Under component 2 (improved poli-cies and systems for reading), a District Staff Orien-tation was held on QTIG assessment tool (quarter 3). A total of 13 SSAs, DPMs and M&E assistants partici-pated in the session.

A workshop to integrate PRP TLM reading standards in the existing curriculum was held at BOC & EC Balochistan and a total of 9 officials from BOC and text book board participated in the event. A coordi-nation meeting was held with Academic Supervisors of District Quetta to seek their support and owner-ship of PRP TLM and teaching/reading techniques. 24 participants attended the meeting.

PRP - FATA: During the month of October, APMs participated in progress sharing meetings with Addi-tional Political Agents and shared progress updates, list of targeted schools and more. Coordination meetings were held with Agency Education Officers of Mohmand and Bajaur Agencies. Venues for upcoming trainings of mentors, teachers, head teachers and TIG facilitators were discussed and finalized during the meetings. In-house training exercises were also conducted at the field offices for the upcoming professional development trainings of mentors, teachers, head teachers and TIG facilita-tors. TIG module, training manuals and TLMs were also briefly discussed in the aforementioned train-ings exercise and TIGs were assigned to SSAs of Mohmand and Bajaur Agencies.

NOC: A six month NOC has been awarded to IRM for the implementation of the USAID – Pakistan Reading Project (PRP) in FATA.

UNICEF: IRM is organizing and conducting training for the Communication Network (COMNet) field staff at district, union council and community levels under the Long Term Arrangement (LTA) awarded by UNICEF. During the Month of October, a total of 17 participants were trained in a ToT event held in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Other activities of the month included the closing of the Sehat Muhafiz project. Two schools, 400 teach-ers, students, parents, UNICEF officials and govern-ment officials participated in closing ceremony. Mentoring and coaching visits to the target schools were also completed.

IRM has recently signed an Agreement with Louis Burger for the Punjab Youth Workforce Development Project. The project aims to train and facilitate employment opportunities for men and women youth residing in the districts of Multan, Lodhran, Bahawalpur and Muzaffargarh in Punjab. It will also help enhance the technical and vocational educa-tion and training sector, mobilize target communi-ties and improve the standard of living for youth in

In the month of October, 08 participants were trained as Excavator Operators, 04 participants graduated in Crane Operator training and 04 participants successfully completed training on Computer Software.

VTEC Rawalpindi

During the month of October, 30 partici-pants graduated in Tailoring while 55 participants graduated in Hand Embroi-dery training. 20 men and women were also trained in Fish net making trade. The overall project aims to provide vocational trainings to 4,884 targeted beneficiaries of 26 UC (17 UC of Lasbela 70% and 09 UC of Gwadar 30%).

YEEP Chakwal has entered its closing months of phase II. During the month of October, a total of 23 men and women were trained in different trades (Basic tailoring, Quick Book & Speech Tree Account-ing, Beautician, Office Management, Driving, Plumb-ing and Building Electrician.) 21 participants were also attached with different employers for their

IRM Sindh:IRM Sindh has initiated a three month training programme in collaboration with Research & Development Foundation (RDF). The aim of this programme is to provide Skill Development Training to youth and Market Driven Training to Women. 16 participants graduated in Advanced Tailoring during the month of October.IRM Sindh has signed “YES I DO” project with Plan International. The aim of this project is to provide vocational skills training to women of District Umar Kot and Sanghar. During the month of October, a new batch has been enrolled in Tailoring and Beautician trades. Furthermore, 15 Microfinance Orientation Ses-sions were also conducted for 86 trained girls in Umer Kot.

Catholic Relief Services - During the month of October, 08 participants graduated in First Aid training under this project.IRM Sindh has also initiated the activities under the SEF funded Adolescent and Adult Learning and Training Program (AALTP). The AALTP aims to provide accelerated formal primary educa-tion for vulnerable adolescents and basic func-tional literacy for adults together with a certi-fied Skill Development / Vocational Training course for each learner so as to enable their socio economic growth. IRM Sindh is currently conducting classes with 1,482 admissions at 6 centers in two Districts. A Teachers Training workshop was also held under the project.

A new venture with Plan International is also under-way. The “Ride In Pink” project aims at giving young women/girls access to women friendly, quality, safe and economical transport services through over-coming mobility barriers and also give them the skills to manage a women friendly transportation service. During the month of October, a meeting with District Youth Network and Gender Equality Monitors was held regarding Ride in Pink awareness among community and as an invitation of applica-tions for Ride in Pink. Another meeting with Plan and NRSP was held at IRM Complex in NRSP office regarding Ride in Pink company formation. The name decided for the WTC is 'U9'-''Umeed-e-Nau''. Activities also included a preparation of IEC promo-tional material for the project along with the initia-

tion of the project advertisement and awareness campaign on FM radio and TV cable network. An Awareness Workshop with CBOs and relevant NGOs was also conducted.
