What Is PRP
• Source of concentrated platelets and growth factors present in blood
• Platelets – Assist In Clotting – Release Growth Factors– Stimulate Cells To
Regenerate New Tissue
PRP Procedure • A Photograph of the skin is taken
to assist the follow-up and grading of the improvement
• 60mL of Blood is collected and placed into a centrifuge to concentrate the growth factors and platelets
• The plasma is drawn up into a syringe and activated with calcium chloride– This stimulates natural growth factor
release from the platelets in the plasma
• About 10mL is obtained and used for the PRP procedure
PRP Procedure
• The blood used is the patients own– Because your plasma
(autologous) is used, there is no danger or disease transmission, anaphylaxis or neoplasia
• All blood drawing materials, needles and syringes are sterile singe use only
PRP Procedure
• Anesthetic cream is applied to the patients face to minimize discomfort
• PRP is injected and or applied with a microfractional needling device that works to deliver the PRP to deeper tissues.
PRP Procedure
• Target Areas– Forehead – Peri-Orbital Region – Cheeks– Chin– Neck– Dorsum of Hands
• Procedure is relatively painless
• Process take approximately 1 hour
PRP Procedure
• Dermapen – Microfractional Needling
Device – FDA Approved – PRP Topically Applied To
Face Combined With Hyaluronic acid Serum
PRP Procedure
• Peptide Aqua Gel Mask– Instantly Hydrates, plumps
and relieves dry, stressed skin with cooling Stemcell and Polypeptide that reduces redness and puffiness

Extracts– Sodium Hyaluronate
PRP Procedure • Side Effects
– Minimal: mild swelling, bruising and redness for 12-24 hours.
– Mild: Some patients may feel faint. A bruise at the venipuncture site may be visible for 2-3 days
– Sever: Low Morbidity Procedure. Anytime the skin is punctured infection is a risk but infections are a rare complication with PRP due to the antimicrobial factors present in the PRP.
Almost no down time No need for
hospitalization Anaphylaxis does not
occur
PRP Procedure
• EXCLUSION CRITERIA– Persons with skin diseases
(SLE, porphyria, allergies) – Cancer– Chemotherapy – Sever Metabolic and
systemic discorders – Abnormal platelet
function (blood disorders)– Anti-coagulation therapy– Underlying Sepsis
EXPECTATIONS FOR PRP• Results may be visible as early as 3 weeks and improve
gradually over ensuing months with improvement in texture and tone.
• Cosmeceutical and Light therapies can enhance the results.• Advanced wrinkling cannot be reversed and a minimal
improvement is predictable in persons with alcohol and tobacco abuse.
• Severe scarring may not respond.• Further plasma treatment is also popular and safe. PRP is
effective and well tolerated.• Results can vary with ones own genetic makeup and
health.
PRP Procedure / Post-Care
• Resume normal daily activity the same or next day, based upon how you feel.
• No anti-inflammatory use for 4 weeks post treatment.
• Moisturize frequently• Ice can be applied to tender areas• With Dermapen some peeling can occur
How often can I do PRP Therapy:
• It is recommended initially 2 sessions 6 weeks apart. Patients who have more damage can have 3 to 4 treatments spaced 6 weeks apart.
• For maintenance, 2 – 4 treatments are needed annually depending on age, extent of damage, and sun exposure. Facials can be resumed in 2 weeks.
