RACE REPORT – SONOMA JULY 4th Submitted by Boss Lady aka K.C.

Lots of Juggers and their familes were out celebrating the 4th of July at Sonoma!! Had a great group of cars and the track was good. Cold in the morning and Hot in the afternoon. On a personal note, Chili Bob got to celebrate his 70th Birthday doing what he loves…. Racing!! Plus we did the typicall 4th things….BBQ hotdogs and ate watermelon. I was ambitious

enough to present a USA flag cake that I made with my two clumpsy hands…… Don Bird actually drove down from Orland to help Chili Bob…. A huge thanks from me!! SUPER PRO – Jeff Broussard went all the way to the 4th Round with a packed class!!! Had a PERFECT light in 2nd Round!!!! Also,

Jeff came in as the #1 Qualifier...... PRO STREET – Jeff Broussard lost in the 1st Round PRO ET – The racing gods were not to kind to the Juggers: Weasel Anders out 1st Round; Eddie Kucker, John Peet, Bob Lowenstein all broke out in the 1st Round. Eddie Kucker 11.60 vs. 11.579 John Peet 10.68 vs. 10.673 ++Bob Lowenstein 9.50 vs. 9.389 ++ The Wicked lil’ Falcon liked here new slicks, tires and yes the brakes worked too!!! SPORTSMAN ET – Dane Lewis lost in the 1st Round; Don Ashby fouled in Round 2. C/GAS – John Boots Broucart lost in the Semi Finals (9.610) against Scott Morgan (9.603) D/GAS – Harold Binsfeld lost in the 2nd round with a foul .001. His E.T. was 10.599; Dan Ficher went to the Semi-Finals but lost on the light. Seemed like a lot of us wanted to get out of there early so that we could get home and enjoy the firework show(s)!!!

DURHAM CAR SHOW WHAT A GREAT LOOKING CREW!!

Attended by Don Bird and Ruth, Don pictured here with new Jugger member Terri and Paul of their NE1 Dragster, lots of fun had by all!!

Race Report from the Sacramento Nitro Nite of Fire on June 15 -17

From your Roving Reporter, Dianna Munro

First, did anyone see the commercial for this event??? I did!!! The third car in the commercial was our very own

President, The Champ, Gary Ryan! Driving the biggest ‘John Force’ style burn out EVER!!!!! You could barely make

out the words ‘Pure Adrenaline’ through all that smoke!!!

Now my recollection of the event. You could have just called it the weekend of Nitro burning SUN!!!! Oh boy was it

HOT!!!! We saw some of the regular hard core Juggers brave the heat.

The smart ones stayed home and in the air conditioning!!! It was over 100

the entire weekend.

We set up camp in the normal spot and got everything ready to survive

the heat. We brought the snow cone machine with all the fixin’s and ended

up bringing the wading pool on Saturday for the kids.

Test & Tune on Thursday was hot. We tried our best to keep hydrated and fed. Let’s just say,

Martha we missed you more than you know!!!! I tried the ‘Racers Special’ and boy oh boy did

it make me feel special it was the 100+. I don’t know if it was the hot dogs that were hidden in

that cheesy, meaty, French fry mess or if degree with little to no shade.

I think Steve O. might have missed Martha the most, I saw

him making his own lunch….

Ruth and Don came by to say Hi and share some shade.

All day Friday Parky and crew were doing their best to dial Black Magic to that magic

number. The heat was not our friend neither was the flywheel. We were attempting

to go out for the second run in qualifying and we could not get the beast to start. We

had ground off 4 + teeth from the flywheel and were in a predicament. How do we

get a replacement, how do we get it installed and are we really going to do this in the pits in 100+degree heat??? Well,

Parky had a replacement but of course it was at home, in Minden. It turns out that part of the Parky Family Racing

Team had a regular job and had to work and not left home yet. Lucky us!!! They picked up the part and started the

journey from Minden to Sacramento. We borrowed a flatbed trailer from one of the newest Juggers, Ron Lindblad, who

had brought it to pick up a toy on the way home from the track. Lucky us AGAIN! We towed Black Magic to my house

(I live 8 minutes from the track) and worked until wee hours of the night. It took a few hours longer than expected but

when doesn’t it….

I think we got about 4 hours sleep before we were up loading Black Magic back on the trailer so we could be there for

the gates to open. We were so excited that things went well.

For us it was a new day with a new problem. Car started and ran for a

qualifying run, but was acting a little funny. We thought maybe the

radiator cap was acting up, we tested it and sure enough it was bad.

Two auto part stores later, Auto Zone and Tognotti’s, and no exact

replacement for the cap, I got what should have been an acceptable

replacement. Oh boy, when someone says this ‘should’ work, I

‘should’ know better…..

After installation we make a run and guess what blows off, the

radiator cap….. Dang, maybe we did not install it correctly? We lock it

down again….Next run, guess who has to go retrieve their cap from the tower….. Needless to say, Parky did a heck of

a job keeping Black Magic going straight down the track with face full of water!

Dan Fisher and Cliff Boyles were out in the blistering heat trying to bring home a Wally. In D Gas Dan was

uncharacteristically sent home in the first round. Dan’s 10.662 beat his competitor’s 10.672 but that guy came out with

a .007 reaction time to snag that hole shot win.

Cliff came really close to winning the last race in his beautiful baby before her power plant goes to her new house.

This is semifinals with a BYE. When they hot lapped him back to the line I heard it wouldn’t start…. What a bummer!!!

So Cliff was Runner Up in B Gas

Our newest Juggers’, aka The Chrysler Boys, Marlon ‘The Professor’ Keller,

Ron Lindbland, Terry Lindblad, Jeff Brochheuser, Paul Langlois where there in

full force. There is my daughter, Jessica backing up Jeff.

Terry is in the red rail and Parky in the far lane for the first round eliminations.

Terry went on to the FINALS and finish 2nd

while I went on to scratch the new

visor on Bob’s helmet while cleaning it…… Yippee for me!!!

Look close, Jeff is doing a front wheel stand!

This season there is a new car in the Nostalgia Eliminator II class, Bad Moon Rising, driven by Jeff Brochheuser.

This is Jeff’s first year driving a dragster. He has raced drag boats in the past but not a Nostalgia Eliminator II car. He

is having a great rookie year finishing 3rd

this event, behind his childhood friend Terry.

See you at the NHRA Sonoma Nationals

on July 28th - 30th!
