Letter from the EditorsThis marks the second issue of the Religious Studies Club journal, Verbum.
The first issue of Verbum, which came out in the fall semester of 2003, was an enormoussuccess. We would like to thank the Fisher community for the wonderful response. Tokeep pace with the fast growing Religious Studies Department, we are glad to presentanother issue of Verbum.
From a psychological take on priests as counselors to the meaning of lent andJewish funerals, this issue of Verbum opens the doors into a scholarly forum of religiousstudies. As Editors, we have had the privilege of reading the submissions from ourtalented peers and are happy to share their works with the whole college.
We hope that this issue will be successful and carry us into another academicyear. Although all the essays in this issue are outstanding, two have received prizes thatwere graciously furnished by Dr. Costanzo. We look forward to reading yoursubmissions in the future and hope that the Fisher community will continue to share itstalent with us.
We hope you enjoy this issue as much as we do.
Sincerely,
Jodi Rowland, EditorLinda Wert, EditorJonathan Schott, Alumni Advisor
