Master Bartholomew has completed his review of
Abertridwr's application. It is his, and therefore my,
recommendation that the group should be
considered for elevation to Baronial status. This
report and recommendation will now be sent to the
SCAA and the Society Seneschal for their
consideration.
We are now awaiting the decision of the SCAA and
the Society Seneschal. I will keep you informed of
progress from here as I hear of it.
Regards,
Catherine de Arc
Acting Lochac Seneschal
I have edited the above and only printed the bits regarding
the Baronial Application Progress, the other bits will be
discussed at the Canton Meeting in December.
Anyone who wishes to see the whole letter is more than
welcome to contact me and I will make it available.
I have not changed any of the wording or tenses of the
above.

ARCHERY OFFICER
Alianore de Essewell – Archery Officer The Final Regional IKAC for 2011 is happening on November 27th at the training grounds of the Bowmen of Melville Archery range in Leeming. There have been 41 Archers to post scores this IKAC season, with 19 archers posting an average for their 3 highest scores. New Member Frank Meredith, whom we met at the Seniors have a go day,
joined us at Sunday training with his longbow. He also brought with him a calico ‘Sheaf’ quiver that he’d made from instructions of a description he received from Odile Adrimet of longbow-archers.com in England, in response to his query of English Archers in 1345 France. He had read in a Bernard Cornwell book about Archers arrows being “carried in waxed linen bag, laced at the top and bolstered by a ‘withy’ frame”. He was interested enough to seek more information about it. He has also provided me with the instructions he received, for use by those interested in making their own. This is the result of his efforts
CHRONICLER
Greetings,
I would like to send a special thank you to Lady
Alianore de Essewell for regularly sending articles
and photos for the Rhol. Once again this month’s
Rhol has been made much more interesting by
Lady Alianore’s constant effort. Thank you indeed!
Without such wonderful input from members of the
populace, the Rhol will end up being just a fairly
boring calendar of events. So I am sending out a
plea for input from more of you. Please send
something in to the Rhol this coming year. If
everyone sends just one thing in, no matter how
small, we’d have a fabulous edition every time!
I’d love to include articles, anecdotes, photos,
event reports, tourney results, book reviews,
recipes, even your favourite websites. Tell us about
one of your A&S projects or special interests. Do
you have something to sell, swap or trade? Let us
know! Officers, please tell us what has been
happening and if you have any problems, needs or
successes? Merchants, advertise your wares in our
Merchants column.
And of course, if you are running an event, don’t
forget to send me some info about it (including set
up and start times).
The deadline for submissions is the 25th of each
month. I am looking forward to lots of great
contributions from the good people of Abertridwr.
Please send them to [email protected] .
With many thanks and best wishes for the festive
season
Rosamond de Montfort

We had a great attendance at this year’s Highland
Gathering and there was a lot of interest in what we had to
offer, particularly with the fighting and archery.
Konrad did a great job at his first time in stewarding a demo.
He had lots of help, with myself, Ilaria, Sandra, Anne and
Laurence manning the table display, along with Konrad
himself.
We also had 2 combat displays in the set up Eric. We had 4
fighters on hand, Galen, Dino, Konrad and Meryck, with
Laurence heralding and Rhys keeping List.
We had a number of people provide us with their details and
Sir Kane will follow up on that list with further information.
Alianore de Essewell
We had a fine day at Burswood Park on the 9th of November,
although somewhat windy.
Sir Kane, Mistress Liduina, Rose Pennington and myself manned
the stall and there was much interest in what we were about.
We also met some very interesting people including archers and
there were many interested in the Arts & Sciences.
I took my beaded arms project to sew and received many
amazed and complimentary remarks on my patience.

Unto the most wonderful populace of the Kingdom of Lochac and the Knowne World Let it be well spoken about that in January AS XLVI the most precious Crown of Lochac shall pass from the noble brow of our beloved King Cornelius and Queen Elizabeth into the care of the equally beloved Crown Prince Siridean and Crown Princess Margie who by right of arms, beauty and grace have proven themselves worthy successors and undoubted heirs to the thrones of this great Kingdom. Your attendance at the celebrations accompanying this most noble event and your participation in the diverse markets, games, tourney’s, competitions and gatherings will surely lighten the heart, illuminate your mind and adorn your memory of the investiture of the new King and Queen with joyful remembrance as suits this auspices start to the new year. The investiture shall by the artful use of imagination take place during a Royal Hunt and the weekend shall be spent out of doors in the grounds surrounding the royal lodge found in the northern most lands of Dragons Bay. Rather than the uncivilized shelter of the trees, provision shall be made among the outbuildings of the lodge for those travellers who by necessity of distance may not be accompanied by a baggage train, alternatively for those who shall command their own Baggage train there shall be available extensive parklands that will provide fine sites to erect pavilions and shelters. The feast accompanying the celebration shall be suitable for meat and non-meat days and we trust you will advise us of these or any other dietary observances you may have. For those good gentles who travel from afar so they may join us in these celebrations, local guides, transport and places to rest weary head shall be had from the wondrous populace of these western shores. A suitable contribution to the Kingdoms treasury will assure you a place at this most auspicious occasion and mark your place in the history of the Kingdom of Lochac In service to the Crown and in Fun and Frenchship, Lady Genevieve du Montfleur

God Rest Ye Frantic Autocrat
God rest ye frantic autocrat
Let nothing you dismay
Remember that your great event
Is still a month away
Don‟t panic yet, there‟s lots of time
And don‟t get swept away…
CHORUS: And sing ye in chorus
“Never again, never again”
And sing ye in chorus
“Never again!”
God rest ye, frantic autocrat
Let nothing you dismay
Remember that your great event
Is still two weeks away
The site is grand, though if it rains
It just might wash away…
CHORUS
God rest ye frantic autocrat
Let nothing you dismay
Remember that your great event
Is still a week away
The music‟s fine if only they
Remember how to play…
CHORUS
God rest ye frantic autocrat
Let nothing you dismay
Remember that your great event
Is still three days away
The feast is planned; the food‟s been bought
Though god knows how you‟ll pay…
CHORUS
God rest ye frantic autocrat
Let nothing you dismay
Despite the fact your great event
Is scheduled for today
The tourney‟s grand, the rain won‟t last
For very long they say…
CHORUS
God rest ye frantic autocrat
Let nothing you dismay
Despite the fact that everything
Is going wrong today
The king and queen came unannounced
And god knows who else may…
CHORUS
God rest ye frantic autocrat
Let nothing you dismay
The herald has lost her voice
And can‟t even cry “Oyez”
The list fields under water
A cyclone‟s on its way…
CHORUS
God rest ye frantic autocrat
Let nothing you dismay
The ants have eaten half you food
And dragged your tent away
Some mundane called the cops
And they took the knights away…
CHORUS
God rest ye frantic autocrat
Let nothing you dismay
The feast was grand, thought half the court
Is dying of the plague
The revel would have been great, but
The tavern blew away…
CHORUS
God rest ye frantic autocrat
You‟d better run away
The queen is mad-her tent and king
Have both been washed away
It might be wise to change your name
And quit the SCA…
CHORUS
God help ye frantic autocrat
Now hide ye while ye may
The gentry loved that damned event
That ended yesterday
They‟re asking for another one
The king hopes you‟ll obey
And they‟re singing in chorus
“Do it again, do it again”
And they‟re singing in chorus
“Do it again!”

An Anglo-Saxon Riddle
My home's not silent, but I am not
loud-mouthed. The Lord shaped
our course together: I'm swifter than he,
sometimes stronger; he's more strenuous.
At times I rest; he must run onward.
But I live in him all the days of my life;
if we're divided I'm certain to die.
