Happenings
The October campout was held at Travelers campground in Alachua, Fl. Octo-
ber 9-11with early bird on the 8th. Ken and Kath Cody, Jack and Pat Dean,
Bob and Sarah Edmondson, Rich and Pam Frederick, Rich Gavin, John and
Sue Johnson, George and Lorretta Redderoth, Ken and Sherrie Risberg, and
visitors Don and Tressa Dishman, Bruce and Janet Duval, Christine Risberg,
and Ray and Peggy Storey camped.
Our thoughts and prayers were with Al and Della who were ill. They were also
with Chick and Debbie who were traveling to and from Illinois due to the death
of Chick’s mother.
Rich G. was the first to arrive on Monday. Welcome back, Rich! The next to
arrive were Bob and Sarah, Rich and Pam, John and Sue, George and Lorretta,
Ken and Sherrie, and visitors Don and Tressa on Thursday.
Friday, Ken and Kath, Jack and Pat and visitors Bruce and Janet and Ray and
Peggy arrived. Some people played cards and others sat outside at a rig and vis-
ited. A salad potluck was enjoyed at 6:00. This was followed by celebrating
Rich’s birthday with a double chocolate cake and singing “Happy Birthday”.
The game of the night was card bingo.
Saturday found people at the building at 9:00 stuffing bears for the kids at Bog-
gy Creek. After the stuffing came sewing bear butts. There was much joking
and laughing. What fun for a good cause! Thanks to Sherrie and Christine for
keeping things moving smoothly! People left to have lunch and Rich and Pam
went to a 90th birthday party for a friend. There was a meeting at 3:00 in the
building that lasted an hour or more. There was much to discuss including
camping locations and food for next year. Larry and Mary and Herb and Nor-
ma drove up for the rest of the day. It was great to see them! Larry and Mary
had been traveling all summer! Everyone left and came back at 5:30 for a Ger-
man potluck dinner. Travelers campground gave us a gorgeous, delicious cake.
Thanks, Travelers! Visitors Don and Tressa, Bruce and Janet, and Ray and
Peggy joined Sunset Ramblers. Welcome all! Tressa drew the ticket for 50/50
and Larry was the winner. Congratulations, Larry! People put up dinner lefto-
vers and came back to play nickels.
During the weekend some people went into Alachua to explore or shop. Hitch-

cock’s, the local grocery store was a favorite stop. Main Street was decorated
for Fall/Halloween. It had several shops including one that sold ice cream.
Right outside was a bench on which to sit and enjoy your treat.
Sunday morning and time to leave came early, as usual. Camping had provided
another weekend filled with old and new friends, eating too much, and lots of
fun!
Spotlight on: George and Lorretta Redderoth
George and Lorretta grew up in Chicago. They have two chil-
dren, David and Debra, and three grandchildren, Ashley, Bren-
dan and Eric. In 1982, they decided to semi retire to Florida
where they moved to Palm Coast. Semi retirement wasn’t for
them. George became part owner where he cooked and sold
blue crab meat to various restaurants. After a year he decided
this wasn’t for him. He went to work for a company who had
government contracts. He was in quality control. Lorretta was getting bored, so
they purchased a dress shop which she and her daughter operated. After a few
years, they opened a second dress shop then a children’s shop. After nine
years, Lorretta and her daughter moved on. Her daughter in one direction, Lor-
retta in another. Lorretta and George went into the decorating business. Finally
in 2000, they finally decided to retire for good. They purchased a motorhome
and traveled around the country for many years. They like out west the best but
the east is great for all the seafood. They have traveled the United States twice,
Canada, and cruised to Alaska. Now they are just taking it easy every day.
