SITUATION VACANT 1. Applications are invited for one post of Research Assistant @ Rs. 20,000/- (NIFSAT/Food

Engineering M.Sc. (Hons. student) in the ALP funded project entitled “Value addition citrus waste as a dietary fiber source in extrusion-based food products”. The appointment will be purely on contract basis. Applicants are required to enroll NIFSAT/Food Engineering/M.Sc. (Hons.) degree for the post of Research Assistant with no 3rd division. NOTIFICATION The Postgraduate students who are likely to complete their thesis during Spring Semester Session 2018-19 may submit their thesis according to the following schedule. Last date for submission of Semifinal thesis is 04-07-2019 and Final Thesis is 11-07-2019. Students should submit E-30 forms upto 27-06-2019 otherwise, their semifinal thesis will not be accepted/entertained. USE OF UNIVERSITY VEHICLES It has come to notice of the competent authority that University vehicles are frequently being used for outstation duties without prior permission. This practice if being exercised by some one is not acceptable. Henceforth, it may be noted that no university vehicle should be used for outstation duty without prior permission of the competent authority failing which vehicles will be pooled in the Motorpool. PLACEMENT OF PhD THESIS FOR PEER REVIEW 1. PhD thesis of Mr. Waseem Abbas, Regd. No. 2002-ag-1894, a PhD student of Plant Pathology will

be placed in the office of Chairman, Department of Plant Pathology, UAF for peer review from 06-05-2019 to 13-05-2019. The title of his thesis is “Use of entomopathogenic nematodes and their associated bacteria for the management of insect pest on cabbage”. The observation/suggestions received as a result of peer review will be incorporated in the final thesis to be submitted to controller of examination for further processing.

2. PhD thesis of Ms. Bushra Akhtar, Regd. No. 2015-ag-3626, a PhD student of Pharmacology will be placed in the office of Director, Institute of Pharmacy, Physiology and Pharmacology for one week w.e.f. 08-05-2019. The title of her thesis is “Formulation, characterization and pharmacokinetics of nanoparticle based gentamicin preparations”. All interested persons are invited for their favorable suggestions.

3. A copy of PhD thesis submitted by Mr. Ghulam Mustafa, Regd. No. 2003-ag-2383, will be placed in the Library of Department of Agronomy from 08-05-2019 to 14-05-2019. The title of his thesis is “Development of Low Input, No-Till Wheat Seedling Technologies for Crop Residues Management in Rice-Wheat Cropping System”. All the faculty members and students are welcome to read/consult the thesis.

PhD THESIS/SYNOPSIS DEFENCE 1. Ms. Mehak Shehzad, Regd. No. 2011-ag-3354, PhD student Institute of Horticultural Sciences will

defend her PhD synopsis at University level in the Landscape Studio, Institute of Horticultural Sciences, UAF on 13-05-2019 at 10:00 am. The title of her synopsis is “Role of Roof Gardens in Urban Sustainability. A case study Faisalabad, Pakistan”.

2. Miss Samia Arif, Regd. No. 2015-ag-3326, a PhD student in the Department of Botany will defend her synopsis on 15-05-2019 at 10:00 am in the Lecture Room No. 1 of the Department. The title of her synopsis is “Distribution and adaptive components of endangered Withania coagulans (stocks) Dunal from different ecozones”.

3. Mr. Muhammad Nadeem, Regd. No. 2007-ag-1080, PhD student of the National Institute of Food Science & Technology, has successfully defended his PhD thesis on 03-05-2019. The title of his thesis was “Exploring the dynamics of pesticide residues and mycotoxins on grapes”.

4. Mr. Irfan Iftikhar, Regd. No. 2011-ag-2969, PhD student of the Institute of Soil and Environmental Sciences will defend his synopsis in a seminar at the University level on 10-05-2019 at 11:30 am in the Library of the Institute of Soil and Environmental Sciences. The title of his synopsis is “Effect of

5. Imran Abdullah, Regd. No. 2015-ag-1414, a PhD student in the Department of Botany will defend his synopsis on 14-05-2019 at 11:00 am in the Lecture Room No. 1 of the Department. The title of his synopsis is “Distribution, ecology and adaptive components in Rhazya stricta Decne. from different ecological regions”.

6. Mr. Waqar Ahmed, Regd. No. 2012-ag-2732, PhD scholar of the National Institute of Food Science & Technology, will defend his PhD synopsis on 17-05-2019 at 10:30 am in Video Conference Room, National Institute of Food Science & Technology, UAF. The title of his synopsis is “Ramification of sugarcane bagasse based adsorbent on the quality and stability of degraded edible fats and oils”. All interested participants are cordially invited.

7. Ms. Sana Mahmood, Regd. No. 2011-ag-4209, PhD scholar of the National Institute of Food Science & Technology, will defend her PhD synopsis on 16-05-2019 at 09:30 am in Video Conference Room, National Institute of Food Science & Technology, UAF. The title of her synopsis is “Design and bioevaluation of peptide based cytotoxins for breast cancer epigenetics”. All interested participants are cordially invited.

8. The synopsis defense of Miss. Auj Mustafa, Regd. No. 2012-ag-3888, PhD Human Nutrition and Dietetics student at the National Institute of Food Science & Technology, will be held on 10-05-2019 at 10:00 am in video conference room, National Institute of Food Science & Technology, UAF. The title of her synopsis is “Evaluating the therapeutic effect of fortified fruit leather for alleviating anemia”. All interested participants are cordially invited.

9. Miss Sana Basharat, Regd. No. 2013-ag-1789 a PhD student in the Department of Botany will defend her synopsis on 20-05-2019 at 12:00 noon in the Lecture Room No. 1 of the Department. The title of her synopsis is “Distributional pattern and adaptive components in Cenchrus L. species from different ecological region”.

10. Miss Ansa Asghar, Regd. No. 2014-ag-8580 a PhD student in the Department of Botany will defend her synopsis on 20-05-2019 at 10:00 am in the Lecture Room No. 1 of the Department. The title of her synopsis is “Structural and functional modification in some Carex L. species along altitudinal gradient”.

11. Miss Anila Faiz, Regd. No. 2015-ag-395, PhD student of National Institute of Food Science & Technology, UAF, has successfully defended her PhD synopsis on 26-04-2019. The committee has suggested some minor changes in the study plan. The title of her PhD synopsis is “Evaluation of the effect of different soybean varieties on the quality and sensory attributes of various soybean products”.

12. Miss Ghulam Sarwari, Regd. No. 2008-ag-646, PhD Chemistry student of the Department of Chemistry has successfully defended her thesis entitled “Nutrient Profile and Antioxidant Characteristics of Selected Edible Roots” as required under the rules on 06-05-2019.

13. Mr. Shahzad Tahir, Regd. No. 2008-ag-2098, a PhD student, Department of Agronomy, has successfully defended his PhD thesis on 03-05-2019. The title of his thesis is “Assessing wheat management options through field and modeling approach”.

14. Mr. Muhammad Usman Ibrahim, Regd. No. 2011-ag-3641, a PhD student, Department of Agronomy, has successfully defended his PhD Synopsis on 26-04-2019. The title of his synopsis is “Exploiting the hormetic potential of different crop water extracts for enhancing drought tolerance in wheat”.

15. Mr. Naeem Iqbal, Regd. No. 2002-ag-1613, a PhD student, Department of Agronomy, has successfully defended his PhD synopsis on 29-04-2019. The title of his synopsis is “Impact of Bio-liquids (earthworm wash) on growth and yield of maize (Zea mays L.)”.

16. Miss Sarvet Jehan, Regd. No. 2012-ag-971, PhD student of the Institute of Soil and Environmental Sciences has successfully defended her thesis in a seminar at the University level on 02-05-2019. The title of her thesis is “Nitrogen mineralization under deficit irrigation and its impact on NO3- leaching and soil health indicators under wheat crop”.

17. Miss Hina Hafeez, Regd. No. 2011-ag-4049, student of PhD Human Nutrition & Dietetics at National Institute of Food Science & Technology, UAF, has successfully defended her PhD synopsis on 06-05-2019. The committee has suggested some minor changes in the research plan. The purposed research title is “Exploring the Restorative Potential of Opuntia (Princkly Pear) Against Hepatotoxicity”.

18. Sana Riaz, Regd. No. 2016-ag-456, PhD scholar of the National Institute of Food Science & Technology, has successfully defended her PhD synopsis on 26-04-2019 at 03:00 pm in Video Conference Room, National Institute of Food Science & Technology, UAF. The title of her synopsis is “Preparation, Characterization and Application of Biodegradable Food Packaging Films from Agriculture Residues”.

19. Mr. Muhammad Siddique Raza, Regd. No. 2006-ag-1954, a PhD student of the National Institute of Food Science & Technology has successfully defended his PhD thesis on 06-05-2019. The title of his thesis is “Bioassessment of Encapsulated Eugenol

Based Dietary Therapy to Alleviate Hyperlipidemia”.

20. Mr. Muhammad Salman, Regd. No. 2010-ag-3557, PhD student of the Department of Plant Breeding and Genetics has successfully defended his PhD synopsis entitled “Determination of soybean genetic stability and transformation efficiency” on 30-04-2019.
