(John) Smith. We offer our sympathy and
extend our prayers to their family and friends.
FLOWERS—If you would like to donate fresh
flowers for the sanctuary area in honor or in
memory of someone, please call the office. The
cost for two arrangements is $110.00
We are to take up our cross each day and follow
Jesus Christ. Today’s Gospel emphasizes what is required
to follow Christ. We must set aside our selfish desires and
take up our cross each day to help build up the Kingdom of
God. This involves sacrifice. Rather than conforming to
what is popular in our present age, we must strive to do what
is good and pleasing to the Lord each day.
The first reading tells of the inner struggles Jeremiah
experienced in being faithful to God’s call to serve as a
prophet. The second reading exhorts us to lead lives that are
holy and pleasing to God. In the Gospel, Jesus teaches that
all who desire to live as one of His disciples must take up
their cross and follow Him.
