community and social enterprises: Attractiveness of the town – welcome signage, appearance, parking and accessibility; Partnerships and reaching out – collaboration with local councils and agencies, joint initiatives between businesses, diaspora engagement and twinning; Town leadership and vision – innovative forward thinking and planning to support enterprise development; Community support – support for local businesses’ key services and culture, sports, heritage, environment, as well as various awards or recognitions that the town, city or village area has already achieved.Bank of Ireland’s Kerry Frank Shaw said “As Ireland’s Enterprise Bank, we recognise that SME’s, start-ups and community organisations are a significant driver of the overall prosperity of the city or county. Local business owners

and community groups want to see their town doing well, and there is nothing like a bit of healthy competition to motivate people to put their best foot forward. We want to recognise

and reward those places where small businesses and community groups are working together with their local council and state agencies to promote enterprise in their area.”

Tralee town has numerous attractive gems in its crown including the town park, Siamsa Tire and the Ashe Memorial Hall. In recent weeks, several Tralee businesses have come together and commissioned an artist to create another such attraction, a beautiful mural on a wall in the Abbey Street area. Ken Tobin, Joint Founder of HQ Tralee was one of these businesses and actually came up with the concept. He explained:“I approached a number of the businesses around the Abbey Street and dominick Street area with the idea of creating something that would become a draw and tourist attraction to the area. The businesses that are supporting it are HQ Tralee, Cearnog and Croi Restaurant, the Abbey Inn and Be Mobile Ireland.” On the murals theme, Ken enthused “It’s a loose theme of the Rose of Tralee on it. The mural itself was designed and painted by local artist Gabriel Galway. There are a number of areas on the mural as well that people can pose in front of.” Ken recounted on what HQ Tralee does: “HQ Tralee is a co-working business and event space. Our aim is to provide customised facilities for Entrepreneurs, SME’s and Startups that foster collaboration and business development, and provide businesses with

the future tools and assistance to grow their businesses.”Ken forecasted on what will proceed next for the area: “The mural is just the first project that we’re taking on. We are promoting what Tralee has as regards bars and restaurants.

It is a huge opportunity for us to promote Tralee for its vibrant daytime and night time activities.”The mural is displayed on Abbey Street and you can contact HQ Tralee on 086 816 2105 or visit www.hqtralee.com

After months and weeks of speculation, rumour and counter-rumour, the 14 couples taking part in this year’s Austin Stacks Strictly Come dancing fundraiser were revealed at a gala launch evening at the Clubhouse in Tralee on Thursday night. The event, which once again takes place in the Festival dome next Saturday (August 26th) has turned out to be a very lucrative fund raiser for the club with monies raised going towards the continued development and improvement works at the Nun’s Field.2017 of course marks the centenary of the founding of the Austin Stacks Club and this year’s ‘Strictly’ will have a centenary theme with the cleverly adopted title ‘dancing through the decades’ reflecting on this as each of the 14 couples taking part will take on a different dance craze through the last 100 years. The dancers have been undergoing a rigorous period of training and rehearsals under

the tutelage of dance instructor supreme, Jackie O’Mahony.Local businesses have come on board to sponsor each of the competing partners, who will have the opportunity of winning the €500 top prize which will be donated to the Charity of their choice.Once again, audience participation will be the key as the winners are decided by both an audience vote

and the judge’s vote.A prize for the best dressed male and female will be up for grabs on the night. The couples taking part are Maeve O’Connor (Eamon Costello Ltd) and david Malone (Inspired), Sandra Leahy (Tralee Chamber Alliance) and Mark Teahan (Tralee Plumbing), Polly Gill (Kingdom Food and Wine) and Pa Fitzgibbon (The Greyhound Bar), Grainne O’Sullivan (Power

Travel) and Gerard O’Reilly (The Ashe Hotel), Norma O’Connor (Kirby’s Brogue Inn) and Kevin Cotter (MJs diner), Kayrena Slattery (John Lane and Sons) and Fr Francis Nolan (Accord, Tralee), Irene Kavanagh (The Rose Hotel) and Michael Murphy (Crag Caves), Anne Marie Nelligan (North Kerry College) and Pa Lynch (Lee Strand), Catherine O’Sullivan (TK Maxx) and Mike Hurley (Gloria Jeans Coffee), Ann Harty (CH Chemists) and John Flynn (JF Flynn Construciton), Chelsea Conway (Nolan’s Garage) and Ian dillane (Moriarty Electrical), Rebecca Harris (Bathrooms 4U) and diarmuid Barry (Johnston Mooney and O’Brien), Amy Quirke (dermot Healy Motors) and Niall O’Connor (Horan’s Wedding Cars).Tickets for this year’s Strictly priced €20 are currently on sale and are obtainable from Garvey’s Supervalu, Rock Street. The cover charge on the ticket includes entry to the Locals Night which takes place following the event.

There is nothing more pleasant than spending time relaxing at the beach with your family or friends in the summer. For many people living away from the coast, getting to the beach is difficult and expensive but the Local Link Kerry bus service company is now providing transport for people of all ages. The busses will bring people to the Banna and Fenit beaches. Alan O’Connell is the Operations Manager of Local Link Kerry and he explained to the Outlook about the company’s new bus routes. “We have over 140 busses all around Kerry so we provide public transport where there is no public transport. The most recent bus we have just started is a summer bus from Tralee to both Fenit and Banna Beach two days a week. So it is Tralee to Banna

on Wednesdays and Fridays and Tralee to Fenit on Thursdays and Saturdays.”Alan informed how people can avail of the new bus services, saying “For an adult it is €5 a turn. There is now a ‘Kids Go Free’ campaign for the next two weeks so any child up to the age of 19 will go free.” On the next step in the journey of the Kerry Link Busses, Alan concluded “The next place we are going to is the Iveragh Peninsula. We hope to have it up and running by the end of September.”Local Link is the National brand for Public Transport services in local and rural areas of Ireland. School Leavers and adults considering a return to education are invited to an Information Session on further education options at Kerry College of Further Education (KCFE), Tralee on Wednesday 23rd August commencing at 6.30pm sharp. “The Information Session will concentrate on highlighting how career goals can be achieved through Post Leaving Certificate Courses”, Mary Murphy, PRO for KCFE told the Outlook. “In particular the focus of the Information Session will be on the value of PLC’s and how the courses at KCFE allow school leavers to access high point third level courses at various Universities and Institutes of Technology throughout the country and beyond without having the points score in the traditional leaving cert.” “As well as that, there are an extensive range of quality assured courses at KCFE which are ideal for those looking to up skill or retrain as they qualify learners to go directly into employment afterwards.” said Mary. Parents of school leavers are also welcome to attend and it will give them an opportunity to really explore and appreciate the value of Post Leaving Certificate Courses.

Courses are in high demand so it is important that anyone considering doing a PLC at the college this September apply online now so as to secure an interview in August. The college prospectus can be picked up from the college

Sinn Fein’s Martin Ferris has strongly condemned the act of writing off unpaid dail Bar tabs and has described the practice as disgraceful.A recently published Houses of the Oireachtas Commission Annual Report revealed that unpaid dail restaurant and bar bills had been written off at the public expense. In commenting on the issue deputy Ferris said that Td’s and Senators are handsomely paid and there should be a zero tolerance approach applied to those who expect the tax payer to pick up their bills.deputy Ferris added that he believed that the Oireachtas should pursue the monies that are owed.“This is wrong, we have people on low income out there who have the sheriff at their doors and Td’s who are well paid who have their bills written off. This is totally wrong and sends out the wrong message to our people,” added deputy Ferris.

The eagerly awaited Leaving Cert exam results were issued yesterday by the State Exami-nations Commission (SEC) to about 60,000 expectant candidates nationwide. The anticipation and uncertainty was palpable this year as the results are now based on a new H (Higher) and O (Ordinary) grading system and a new CAO common points system. The results dovetail nicely with the Rose of Tralee Festival so celebrate your achievement but keep a close eye on the impending closing dates. There are dead-lines to be met in order to secure a place on your course preference. The early indications are that Leav-ing Cert results achieved in Kerry are excellent, so offers of third level college places will flood into the region on next Monday, 21st August, when the first round of college offers is issued by the Central Applications Office (CAO).

When you collected your results yesterday, your school provided you with a personalised viewing session application form supplied by the SEC, which shows your exam details. If you wish to view one or more scripts, return the completed form to the school by Tuesday, 22nd August. You will be assigned to one of the viewing sessions, which will be held on Friday, 1st September from 6.00pm to 9.00pm (Session 1), Saturday, 2nd September from 9.00am to 12.00 noon (Session 2) and Satur-day, 2nd September from 2.00pm to 5.00 pm (Session 3). I strongly advise you to view your marked scripts where you will see how the marking scheme was applied to your work.

If you wish to have any of your subject scripts re-marked through the appeal process, your school will provide you with a personalised appeal application form. In the case of external candidates the form was enclosed with your results. The appeal fee is €40.00 per Leaving Cert subject and €15.50 per Leaving Cert Applied subject, and must be paid in advance. This will be refunded to you if your result is upgraded. The refund will be made through your school if you are a school-based candidate. Pay the appeal fee by the bank giro facility on your personalised appeal applica-tion form or on-line at www.examinations.ie. Appeal applications must be with the SEC by Wednesday, 6th September. This means that the schools will have to post applications on

Tuesday, 5th September. If you choose to view your scripts before deciding whether or not to appeal, arrange to pay the fee and return the form to the school on Monday, 4th September or early on Tuesday, 5th September.

The Leaving Certificate appeal results will be issued in mid-October. Last year, 9500 grades in individual subjects were appealed by 5465 candidates. 1698 of those grades were upgrad-ed, which is about 18%. Only one grade was downgraded. The SEC automatically informs the CAO of all changes of results. If you are entitled to a further offer from CAO as a result of the outcome of the appeal, the CAO will automatically issue that offer to you, although it may be for entry in 2018.

The CAO vacant places facility opens on Tues., 22nd Aug. (noon) at www.cao.ie. This facility is open to both those who have already made an application to CAO, whether placed or not, and to those who have not applied to CAO. Persons who have not applied already may make a vacant place application on payment of a fee of €40.00. Persons who have already applied to CAO may apply for a vacant place on-line without payment of a further fee. An applicant for a vacant place must meet the normal minimum entry requirements for the course in question. Vacant places can be viewed on the CAO website, www.cao.ie.

Leaving Cert results are personal and private. It’s your prerogative as to whom you share them with. However, if you have any con-cerns or if you need some advice, avail of the confidential help line which became available yesterday. during the next few weeks, Guid-ance Counsellors are staffing that invaluable

help line, providing advice and guidance for candidates and their parents. The help line operates on Wednesday 16th August (10am-7pm), Thursday, 17th August (10am–7pm) and Friday, 18th August (10am-1pm) follow-ing the release of Leaving Cert results. The help line will also be available on Monday, 21st August (8am-7pm), Tuesday,22nd August (8am-7pm) and Wednesday, 23rd August (8am-1pm) following the release of CAO offers. The free phone number is 1800 265 165.

In the next article, I’ll analyse the trends emerging from CAO Round One of-fers, which will be issued next Monday. I’ll also give some advice about accepting your CAO offer online.

Ballymac travelled to Brosna in Round 10 of the County League on Saturday 12/08 with the hope of promotion their team to division two next season, from the off Ballymac showed true spirit and determination and with excellent team work they achieved their goal.Brosna put the first point on the board within the first minute and continued to punish Ballymac with an outstanding goal leaving the visitors trail behind early in the game but Genie Griffen and Aiden Breen responded by scoring 2 points to close the gap , it was 18 minutes before the teams levelled on the score board and throughout the first half it was point for point going into half time with a score of 1-05 to Brosna and 0-07 to Ballymac. In the second half Ballymac came out with a new found strength and immediately dominated the game from the start with Paudi McCarthy scoring two outstanding points within a minute of each other and Vinnie Horan following suit adding another point to secure Ballymacs lead, Luke Sweeney came from the midfield and with great skill to put two more successive points on the board, There was no stopping Vinne Horan in the closing 15 minutes of the game as he battled through the Brosna side by scoring 3 more points without response . With Genie Griffen and Paudi McCarthy adding more scores to the Ballymac side in the closing stages of the game there was no doubt Ballymac were bringing home the promotion, leaving the home side trail 10 points behind at the final whistle.Congratulations to the Team and Management on this outstanding performance and we look forward the League Final against Na Gaeil in the coming weeks.BallYMaC MiNoRS: BALLYMAC 1—14 CASTLEISLANd dESMONdS 1—12. HuRliNG CluB; RESultS; County Intermediate Hurling Championship Semi Final, Lixnaw 2-8 Ardfert 3-14.CouNtY SENioR HuRliNG CHaMpioNSHip; The semi finals pairings for the county senior hurling championship are Ballyduff v Kilmoyley, Lixnaw v the winners of Ardfert/Abbeydorney. This replay is scheduled to take place on the weekend of August 27th with the semi finals down provisionally for the weekend of Sept 10th. CouNtY iNtERMEDiatE SEMi FiNal; Lixnaws interest in the county Intermediate championship ended in Abbeydorney last Sunday following their 3-14 to 2-8 defeat to Ardfert. The teams were on level terms after ten minutes at 0-2 apiece. Two pointed Ardfert frees gave them the lead and a great save from a penalty by Robert Silles kept Lixnaw in touch. However in the twenthieth minute the game was more or less decided when Ardfert drove home two goals in as many minutes to open a 2-4 to 0-2 gap. Lixnaw responded with a well taken goal from Enda Galvin who was tormenting the Ardfert defence. It was 2-9 to 1-3 at half time before Ardfert added to their lead after the break with three unanswered points. Sub J.P O’Connell threw Lixnaw a life line with an opportunist goal to reduce the margin to eight points 2-12 to 2-4. That was as good as it got though for Lixnaw, Ardfert replied with their third goal five minutes from the end before finishing nine point winners. Subs Michael Stackpoole, J. P. O. O’Connell, Sean Kelliher, dick McElligott. KERRY MiNoR/u21; had mixed fortunes in Roscommon last Saturday for their respective All Ireland B quarter final clashes. The minors were first up where they took on Kildare in their bid to achieve six All Ireland titles in a row. Unfortunately, in spite of their best efforts Kerry failed to overcome a strong

Kildate team. Wind assisted in the first half Kerry led by 9 points to 6 at the break before increasing their lead to six with the games opening goal early in the second half. Kildare produced a strong finish though, the teams were on level terms with time almost up but two late points secured the victory for Kildare. Brian McAuliffe and Conor O’Keeffe were on the Kerry team while Shane McElligott missed out through injury. It was all too easy though for the u21s who easily accounted for donegal by 0-26 to 1-9 in the quarter final of the All Ireland U21 B championship(Richie McElligott cup). Kerry now play Meath in the semi final next Saturday at a neutral venue to be decided. As the counties prepare to lock horns in the first of this year’s All-Ireland SFC semi-finals, Johnny buckley who played a key role in his side’s quarter-final win over Galway, remembers the last games between the sides three years ago.“It was two teams going at it and just two teams trying to get one over on the other and trying to pip it.“I wouldn’t say it added any bitterness, it was just that bit of competition. It’s natural when you are playing for high stakes.“I suppose it was a very unique football match in that it was played in the Gaelic Grounds. We had played there before but the atmosphere definitely was something different to what we were used to.“The game and the physicality of the game fed into that, and it was just one of those occasions where it was a rollercoaster. Thinking that ‘we’re out’,’ job done’ to ‘that’s the end of the road.’“It was a tit-for-tat championship match that could have gone either way and we were just delighted to come out on the right side of it,” added Johnny Buckley.

Johnny Buckley is hoping that Kerry will improve from the Galway game and is expecting a bigger performance from the team in the semi-final“That performance won’t do against Mayo. There were periods in the game where we just didn’t score enough. It’s hard to put your finger on it. We felt we were in a very good place going into the game, training had gone well. Just on the day, we didn’t play with the intensity or give the performance we were hoping for and had trained to put in.“Sunday’s game will tell a lot where both sides are at right now,” added Johnny Buckley. “We just have to wait and see.”

KERRY V MaYoSunday 20th September 3.30pm Croke Park

Kerry and Mayo renew their great championship rivalry in the first of this year’s All-Ireland SFC semi-finals at Croke Park on Sunday. Kerry and Mayo have met on 25 occasions in the All-Ireland SFC, with Kerry recording 18 wins to Mayo’s four with 3 draws in the rubber. In 2014, it took a replay and a period of extra time before Kerry prevailed. The Westerners have enjoyed a topsy turvy championship campaign in 2017. They began their march by defeating Sligo in the Connacht SFC quarter-final before losing to Galway in the provincial semi-final.In the qualifiers, they defeated derry, Clare, Cork and their battle with Roscommon went to a replay where they recorded a runaway victory. Mayo are very resilient to say the least. They are in the semi-final on merit but will they be match-weary when they face the Kingdom as they have had to overcome two periods of extra-time, against derry and Cork, and a replay against Roscommon to get to the last four. It’s a well-known fact that Kerry have not been tested in this championship given the nature of their wins over Clare and Cork in the provincial campaign and Galway last time out.

Kerry are brittle at the back and the fact that they coughed up four goal scoring opportunities both against Cork and Galway is something that will concern manager Eamon Fitzmaurice ahead of the clash with Mayo. With so much at stake for both counties and an even greater prize on offer, neutrals can expect a fast, close exciting game of football between two well-prepared and evenly matched sides. Lee Keegan was a notable absentee

from Mayo’s quarter-final replay win over Roscommon but Mayo manager Stephen Rochford expects the current footballer of the year to be ready in time to face the Kingdom.Keegan of course is one of Mayo’s key performers and there is much pre-match speculation that he will be tasked with curbing the influence of Kieran donaghy, who was so influential in the Galway game.Mayo’s Cillian O’Connor is their key talisman. The Ballintubber man is in outstanding scoring form Mayo this summer. He is a very influential forward and the current top scorer in this year’s championship, having amassed a total of 3-49 from 6 championship games. O’Connor is deadly accurate from placed balls and the Kerry full-back line will have to be v disciplined and focused. What of the Kerry line up? Speculation has been rife as to what fifteen Eamon Fitzmaurice will send to battle the warriors of the west. Will Killian Young be restored to the defence? Will Stephen O’Brien start, only Eamon Fitzmaurice and his selection committee can answer these questions, all will be revealed when the team is announced on the Kerry GAA website around 8pm on Friday night. This game will be very close. don’t rule out a draw as was the case in 2014.

FitZMaurice eXpecting tough battle With MayoKerry Senior Football manager Eamon Fitzmaurice spoke to the media ahead of Sunday’s semi-final renewal with Mayo at the team’s pre-match media night in Killarney recently. The Finuge man has great respect for Mayo and is expecting yet another ferocious battle.“We always felt that we would meet Mayo in either a quarter-final or semi-final. They are a serious team and a battle-hardened unit. They have been so close for the last four or five years and will be a tough nut to crack.”Fitzmaurice said that Kerry had no injury worries of note but did say that Cahersiveen’s denis daly who hurt his leg, may not make it, while Kevin McCarthy who missed the Quarter-final win over Galway, is still a slight doubt.Fitzmaurice said that Semi-final clashes are usually massive battles and he was expecting nothing different next Sunday. “The hurling semi-finals were an example of what I am talking of here. When a team comes through they know they have been in a war but this just whets the appetite for supporters and neutrals alike,” he added.

Evelyn Twomey was as surprised as anyone in the Gaelic Grounds to see her half blocked shot reach the goal net this evening as Kerry keeper Alanna Maunsell squinted in the evening sun but failed to secure the ball.dublin for the most part of the second half got to grips with a very competitive Kerry side in this Liberty Insurance Premier Junior Semi Final, and, just like the end of April in the League Final, Shane Plowman’s Panel banished yet another demon. The girls in blue have reached the Final of this year’s Championship and will face Westmeath, who ran were close by Armagh. It was a tale of tit for tat in the opening half with the majority of the scores being shared by Aoife Bugler and Kerry’s sharp shooter Patrice diggan. Roisin drohan and Evelyn Twomey added to dublin’s 1st half tally while Jacqueline Horgan made sure diggan wasn’t

the only one on the Kerry score sheet. With the score at 0-06 to 0-05 to dublin at the break there was no knowing what the second half would bring as there was literally nothing to separate these two sides. The second session started just like the first with diggan again pointing a free. But Evelyn Twomey pushed dublin’s noses in front once again before diggan made another move.Another pointed free was converted by Bugler before Twomey’s goal was registered, pitting 0-04 between the sides. It might not have been deliberate but it put dublin firmly in the driving seat.Aoife Bugler sent 2 more points over from the dead ball giving dublin the luxury of a 6 point cushion with a quarter of the game still to go.diggan finished out with another 0-02 despite taking a knock from a Roisin drohan challenge. Roisin Baker found her voice with a very sweet catch and turn around 20 meters out to add another to the dublin column.

At the other end of the field a late and high tackle around the dublin goal mouth gave Kerry a lifeline as referee Philip Mcdonald awarded Kerry a penalty. Their sweeper Sara Murphy stepped up to despatch the ball, which she drove directly into the path of Aishling Spillane and deirdre Johnstone and the opportunity was over. And with dublin substitute Sinead Wylde having the final say it’s dublin who advanced to Croke Park on September 10th for this year’s Liberty Insurance Premier Junior Camogie Final.KERRY: Alanna Maunsell, Michelle Costello, Niamh Leen, Liz Houlihan, Orla Young, Sara Murphy, Elaine Ryall, Olivia dineen, Patrice diggan 0-8 (0-5F) Aoife Behan, Laura Collins, Ann Marie Leen, Jessica Fitzell, Jacqueline Horgan 0-1, Alannah WhelanSubs: Saidhbhe Horgan for Olivia dineen (41) Norette Casey for Alannah Whelan (42) Rachel McCarthy for Jessica Fitzell (50)

For most teams the concession of 2-5 without reply in just eight minutes would have been enough to derail any championship aspirations but not for the first time in this year’s campaign, Graham Shines side put their supporter through the ringer of emotions before deservedly defeating ArmaghThe victory sets up a mouth-watering clash with Leinster Champions dublin on August 26th. Last year’s beaten All Ireland finalists easily saw off the Waterford challenge in the first of the two games played at Kilkenny’s.Kerry Manager Graham Shine has not hidden the fact that he wants to give youth its turn and he will be delighted that after handing a debut to 16 year Hannah O’donoghue that she turned in a player of the game performance bagging 1-4 from play. Also pleasing would have been the fact that he introduced Fiadhna Tangney, Eilish O’Leary who took a wonderful score and Jaden Lucey all very much the next generation of Kerry player.O’donoghue netted in the tenth minute for Kerry, finishing off good approach play from the lively Sarah Houlihan and Laura Rogers, and Shine’s charges had a 1-3 to 0-0 lead.Armagh roused themselves to register 2-5 without reply, as Kerry struggled on their own restarts.Mackin netted twice in a minute midway through the half to turn the game on its head and both were cracking finishes past Fitzgerald.

But the goalkeeper produced a magnificent tip-over save three minutes before the break to deny Mackin a hat-trick goal.Anna Galvin drew Kerry level at 2-7 apiece with a 28th minute goal but Armagh’s response was impressive, as scores from Aoife McCoy and Lauren McConville established a two-point half-time lead.It could have been even better as Armagh registered seven first half wides – and Fitzgerald produced those two fine saves — but the turnaround from six points down early on was impressive.

Sean O’Kane’s team needed to build on that platform against the pre-match favourites but they were rocked back on their heels just 20 seconds after the restart, as Ní Mhuircheartaigh scored Kerry’s third goal. From there until the finish, they would not be caught, as McCoy and Mackin scored Armagh’s only points of the second half.Mackin’s 36th minute point was verified by ‘score assistant’, in use for the second time after Ciara McAnespie’s goal for Monaghan was awarded against Cork last Monday. That score kept Armagh in touch, as they trailed by just two points, 2-11 to 3-10, but Kerry on the spin to close the game out, with the Orchard County scoreless after Mackin’s effort. They were four adrift, 2-11 to 3-12, when Marley was yellow-carded for a tackle on Ní Mhuircheartaigh, and there was no way back.Armagh conceded just two further points after that but despite the fact that they were chasing the game, they still packed players behind the ball and Kerry were comfortable as they booked a massive date with dublin. That game, in a fortnight’s time, will mark Kerry’s first semi-final appearance since 2015.KERRY: L Fitzgerald; E Lynch, A desmond, A Leonard; C Kelly, C Murphy, S Murphy; L Scanlon 0-2, E Sherwood; L Ní Mhuircheartaigh 1-3 (0-1F), A Galvin 1-0, d Hallissey; S Houlihan 0-4 (0-2F), H O’donoghue 1-4 , L Rogers. KERRY aND MaYo RENEw RiValRY iN all iRElaND

SEMi FiNalKerry and Mayo renew All Ireland Championship rivalry when they go head to head in the semi final at Croke Park on Sunday next (3:30pm). Mention of this game immediately brings back memories of the epic tussles between the side at the same stage three years ago. Kerry prevailed in front of 36,256 enthralled spectators by three points (3-16 to 3-13). The fact that Kerry went on to lift Sam Maguire only served to rub salt into gaping Mayo wounds following that Titanic struggle. So, it’s all down once again to what will happen on the day. Mayo’s big players seem to be back in business and that does not augur well for Kerry as guys like Lee Keegan, Aidan O’Shea, Keith Higgins and Cillian O’Connor are real leaders. Kerry will hardly stray too far from the fifteen that did duty in the quarter final but they need to bring their “a” game to the plate from the off and display the kind of ruthlessness that is necessary at this level and more especially at this, the penultimate stage of the competition. The experienced Laois official Maurice deegan will be the man in charge and the Kerry team will be announced on Friday evening at 8pm and posted on the Kerry GAA Website.

Kerry Minors will put the county’s long running winning run on the line when they take on Cavan in the Electric Ireland Minor championship semi final in Croke Park on Sunday (1:30pm). One has to go all the way back to August 2013 for Kerry’s last defeat at this level, that at the hands of Tyrone in the semi final, but of course the personnel are constantly changing in this grade and stats like that one will hardly matter much on Sunday next. Referee for Sunday is Liam devenney of Mayo and the Kerry team will be announced on Friday evening at 8pm and posted on the Kerry GAA Website.

We did get a point back in added time –a second from Alan duggan - to leave the West Kerry boys ahead by two at the break (1-4 to 0-5).Seven minutes after the resumption they had extended that lead to six points with a point from play and a goal, this time from the penalty spot. However we worked our way back into game, and in the next ten minutes had drawn level again with a well-worked goal by team captain, Shane O’Callaghan, put through by Pa McCarthy, and points from david Mannix (free), Sean Ryan and daniel Bohan, who was making his first appearance of the season with the Senior team. That was as good as it got, however, for us as we managed just one more point in the final quarter – from Alan duggan - while An Ghaeltacht went on to score three more points and a last minute goal which finally put the game beyond our reach.BESt oF luCK: to the Kerry Minors (including our own dylan Casey, Ciarán O’Reilly and Michael Slattery) and Seniors (including our own Kieran donaghy and Ronan Shanahan), as they take on Cavan and Mayo in their respective All Ireland semi finals in Croke Park next Sunday (20th Aug).B FOOTBALL: Ballyduff 2-12; Austin Stacks 0-12.On a fine sunny evening in Ballyduff, on last Saturday (12th Aug), our B team had to give way to a physically stronger local side in the second last round of the Co. also. We now turn our thoughts to the Town League semi final against Kerins O’Rahillys which is due to go ahead in Connolly Park on next Friday evening (18th Aug) at 7.30pm.MiNoR FootBall: Our Minors were due to play dingle on Monday evening last (14th Aug) in round 3 of this five-round Central League. Na GaEil SENioRS: Na Gaeil entertained dromid Pearses in Round 10 of the County League in Killeen on Saturday evening last on what was a perfect evening for football. The score at the interval dromid Pearses 0-9; Na Gaeil 0-05.Na Gaeil needed a good start to the 2nd half and that’s exactly how things transpired. On their first attack the ball broke loose in the square and Na Gaeil midfielder dan O’Connor picked it up and deftly hit it over the keeper’s head for an all important goal. This score gave Na Gaeil the shot in the arm they needed and they fired over the next two points through Mike Griffin and a darragh Carmody free. dromid’s midfielder Graham O’Sullivan scored a fine point but Na Gaeil’s darragh Carmody responded with two of his own. darragh Carmody and Graham O’Sullivan exchanged points again to leave Na Gaeil 2 ahead after 13 minutes of the 2nd half. But on the quarter hour mark dromid were awarded a penalty for a leg block by a Na Gaeil defender in the large parallelogram. dromid’s full forward stepped up and cooly dispatched the ball to the Na Gaeil net to put them a point up. But Na Gaeil never panicked and scored the next 4 points. Both teams swopped points before referee Seamus Mulvihill blew the final whistle. Full time score: Na Gaeil 1-17; dromid Pearses 1-13. Na Gaeil make history as they will now play in division 2 of the County League next year for the first time ever. Na GaEil aNNual CYClE: Na Gaeil Annual Cycle is fast approaching. KERiNS o’RaHillYSSENioRS: Just like the recent county championship game vs South Kerry , a blistering start to the second half was the deciding factor in this game when in a purple patch from the 7th to the 14th minute we hit St Marys for 1-05 without reply effectively putting the game beyond their reach. John Keane kick started the blitz and further rapid points from John Ferguson, Jason O’Leary raiding from defence, Shane Brosnan and the outstanding Con Barrett saw us increase our lead to 8 points ( 1-13 to 0-08) and worse was to follow for the home side when Tom Hoare ( outstanding all through) was on the end of a passing move to finish low to the net, the much sought after points were on the way to Strand Road.we led 2-14 to 0-10 after 16 minutes in the second half and though conceding two late goals we ran out deserving winners on a final score line of 2-16 to 2-12. We wish david, Jack & Barry John all the best next week vs Mayo in the All Ireland semi finals - here’s hoping that they will be preparing for another final in Sept. JuNioRS: Following on from our county league victory, attention now turns to Coiste Trá Lí league with the semi final down for decision on Friday night next ( 18th) when we travel to Connolly Park to take on Stacks with throw in @ 19.30 - we have already overcome the same opposition but Stacks will be a different proposition in their own backyard and a great game is in prospect. Best of luck to Barry, Eugene, Ken, Liam and team involved.MiNoRS: We played Laune Rangers in the central league on Monday night last but similar to our county championship clash, we went down by 3 points, 2-17 to 2-14. Our next game in this competition sees us travel to dingle on Monday 21st to play the locals. JuNioR BluES: The Rose Cup will take place this coming week end ( Sat 19th) in conjunction with the Festival; 16 teams will take part, with matches being played in two venues, our own Healy Park and Na Gaeil with the action getting under way at 10.30 am. The final is scheduled for Healy Park on Sat evening. We would like to wish denis, Mark, Paul and the lads all the best in this competition.

First half was exciting as they were scores from both side every minute with points coming from frees and some fine scores from play with Patrice diggin doing an excellent job like always along with Capt.
