    PROPOSALS AND INITIATIVESTO DEAL WITH CLIMATE CHANGE

    Voices for the Climate is a space in which Peru, as hostcountry for COP20, welcomes domestic and foreign visitors.

    It is a space that shows the diversity of proposals and initiativesregarding climate change and emphasizes the five emblematic issuesthat have been prioritized in Perus internal climate agenda: Forests,Mountains and Water, Oceans, Energy and Sustainable Cities.

    VOICES FOR THE CLIMATE HAS BEEN CREATED TO:

    Contribute to raise awareness on the importance of climate change, its management and the relevance of COP20 to consolidate the climate agenda and to generate informed debate at domestic, regional and global levels.

    IT SEEKS TO:

    Facilitate dialogue and meeting spaces among different audiences and players. Make visible multi-sector headway, initiatives and proposals regarding climate change: by the Ministry of

    Environment and other Government ministries, civil society and private sector.

    Raise awareness around Climate Change regarding: forests, oceans, energy, sustainable cities, and mountains and water.

    Voices for the Climateis a space forparticipation, dialogue and learning thatenables us all to be part of COP20.

    ALL AREINVITED:

    Citizens and public at large.

    Delegations from COP20 Parties and observerorganizations.

    International cooperation entities.

    Academic institutions, school and university students,

    professionals, teachers and researchers.

    Local, regional and international environmental and

    development non-governmental organizations.

    Private sector, including corporations and MSEs

    Public sector, national and sub-national governmentrepresentatives.

    Domestic and international press.

    Each one of the emblematic themes will be shown in five pavilions and one threshold

    hall, which expands over 3600 m2 of museographic exhibit.

    The Threshold Hall will explain what climate change is, progress made around it and

    Perus roles in COP20.

    Visitors may interact and understand all that refers to climate change through a

    number of communicative, creative and dynamic proposals in forums and debates.

    PAVILIONS

    STANDS

    There will be more than 400 stands for public sector, civil society, private companies

    and any other organization interested in exhibiting its projects and headway made on

    issues related to climate change and other environmental responsibility matters.

    Located in strategic places, easily accessible by the public and available in 4 m2, 8 m2,

    12 m2 and 16 m2 formats, at differentiated costs according to the type of organization.

    It will be an opportunity to get in touch with an international network of organizations

    linked to environmental issues.

    The indigenous peoples maloca will gather several

    organizations and representatives from indigenouspeoples in Peru and the world over. Indigenous

    Peoples will express their initiatives and

    knowledge on climate change.

    TUNNELThis is the entry space to the pavilions where an artistic eco-cultural exhibit will be

    offered. Its objective is to raise awareness on protection of biological diversity, geo-graphy, ecology, culture, ethnicity, archaeology and art in Peru.

    CULTURALAGENDAA variety of artistic and cultural shows of different kinds have

    been identified and will be presented in auditoriums and openspaces, inside and outside the space devoted forVoices for the Climate.

    A sponsor program has been developed for institutions interestedin participating inVoices for the Climate.

    RELEVANT

    DATAOPENING DATES AND TIMES:From December 1 to 12, 2014

    from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

    LOCATION:

    Jockey Club del Per(Av. El Derby, Santiago de Surco).

    PARKING:

    There will be parking lots for vehicles withhourly fees.

    It offers exhibit and exchange areas so that participants can express themselves and learn more about climatechange, about the impact of human activity on the environment, as well as about the problems, proposals andopportunities at global and local levels.

    COP is the Conference of the Parties of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change(UNFCCC). It is the mechanism through which State parties define follow-up actions regarding compliancewith Convention objectives and with its complementary instruments.

    COP20 Lima will lay the foundations for a New Global Agreement to be signed in 2015 (in COP21 in Paris) andthat will come into effect in 2020 to implement concrete actions to reduce emissions.

    Climate change effects are all over the world, such as temperature and rainfall changes, glacierrecession, sea-level increase, more intensity and frequency of extreme events, among others.

    Climate change can have different impacts in the Peruvian territory due to its characteristics. Peru isone of the 10 most mega-diverse countries in the world, because it has the second larger Amazonforest and the largest chain of tropical mountains. In Peru you can find 84 out of the 104 life zonesidentified in the planet, and 27 out of the 32 climates identified in the world. Besides, the country isrich in glaciers, since it has 71% of tropical glaciers in the world.

    COP20will take place at the Armys General Headquarters, in San Borja, from December 1 to 12.Representatives from UNFCCC Parties, observer organizations and accredited press will meet there.
