Today my class started the Customary Measurement chapter. I will be

learning to measure and convert customary units of length, capacity, weight,

and time. I will also be learning to solve measurement problems. Here are my

vocabulary words that I will be using during my lessons.

Vocabularycapacity: amount of liquid a container can hold

cup (c), fluid ounce (fl oz), gallon (gal), pint (pt), quart (qt)Example: The capacity of a cocoa mug is about 1 cup.

length: measurement of the distance between two points inch (in.), foot (ft), yard (yd), mile (mi) Example: The length of my dog is about 1 yard.

weight: how heavy an object is ounce (oz), pound (lb), ton (T),Example: My dog’s weight is 50 pounds.

convert: to change to different unitsFind the number of seconds in one hour.1 hour (h) = 60 minutes (min)1 minute = 60 seconds (s)60 min × 60 s = 3600 seconds
