Vitiligo is a skin disorder that causes discoloration in the skin. The disorder can occur in different parts of the body such as the face, mouth, neck, and even the scalp. Doctors have dis-covered many types of vitiligo such as generalized vitiligo, seg-mental vitiligo, mucosal vitiligo, and acrofacial vitiligo. It is con-sidered to be an autoimmmunedisorder. There are no perma-nent cures for the disorder yet but diagnosed people can re-move color on the skin to match the dispigmented patches or cover the patches up with make-up.

After gaining several patches of skin that lose color, you begin to see the skin
around it start to lose color as well. This condition can happen to anyone. It can occur
when skin is injured or by a cut. Not only can this be a physical detriment to one’s ap-
pearance but it can make one emotional as well. People that are affected can use topical
lotions and exposure to light rays. This treatment could help coax cells grow back and
re-pigment the pale skin.
Vitiligo
Essential Vitamins/ Treatment
It is found that many people with vitiligo have insufficient amounts of vitamin
C, copper, folic acid, vitamin B12, and zinc. In order to prevent vitiligo, it is recom-
mended that you try to boost your immune system by taking those substances daily.
But instead of taking copper supplements, you should get it from coffee, oysters, and
clams. For treatment for vitiligo, one could use makeup, repigmentation therapy, topi-
cal immunomodulators, light therapy, and depigmentation.

Causes/ Diagnoses
The cause of vitiligo isn't known but some say it is triggered by sunburn or by emo-
tional stress. Some say that with vitiligo, you inherit a group of three genes that
causes depigmentation. The most popular acceptance of vitiligo is that depigmenta-
tion occurs because it is an autoimmune disease, a disease in which a person's im-
mune system reacts against the body's own organs or tissues. Only about 65 million
people have vitiligo in the entire world and most of the people who inherit the dis-
ease acquire it before the age of 40. Vitiligo affects all races equally but is more no-
ticeble in people with dark skin.
