Terms and Conditions

We are a wholesale manufacturer who distributes our products through various resellers. To see if you qualify, please contact our customer service department at (800) 395-2570.

Terms Net 30 days after credit is established. Interest of 1-1/2% per month will be charged on past due accounts. Accounts with a past due balance must pay in advance or by C.O.D. until proper credit is reestablished. A charge of $25 will be added for any returned checks.

New Accounts A signed credit application / purchase agreement is required. Until such time as credit is approved all orders must be accompanied by a check, PayPal, VISA, American Express, Discover, or MasterCard, or orders will be shipped C.O.D. certified funds.

We accept:

Sales Tax Customer is liable for all federal, state, and local taxes and will be invoiced for taxes unless exemption or resale certificate is provided.

Minimum Order Orders paid by credit card do not have a minimum billing requirement. All other orders have a $75 minimum, not including transportation.

Shipments All prices are F.O.B. Mesquite, Texas shipped via UPS or the most economical way. Motor freight shipments will be sent freight collect whenever possible.

Handling Charges All shipments are subject to a $3.65 (or more) per box handling and insurance charge. A charge of $4 per location will be added to the invoice for any “Split Shipments”.

An $12.50 service charge will be added to all C.O.D. orders. This charge is dictated by UPS and is subject to change at any time.

Prepaid Truck shipments are subject to a $12 processing charge.

UPS sheet metal shipments: • $20 per box for 24” x 48” sheets

Domestic sheet metal truck shipments: • $15 per crate for 12” x 24” sheets • $25 per crate for 24” x 48” sheets

International sheet metal shipments: • $35 per crate for 12” x 24” sheets* • $65 per crate for 24” x 48” sheets* *These wooden crates are heat treated and carry the approved IPPC stamp.

Special Packaging A $25 minimum will be added for custom packaging not covered above – consult ID Plates for charges.

Cancellations or Changes Upon cancellation or changes to an order prior to completion, a charge of $25 plus all costs incurred will be assessed.

Overruns / Underruns Quantities shipped on custom items may vary by 5% from quantity ordered and will be billed accordingly. Consult ID Plates for exact quantity runs.

Wire Transfers A $25 bank charge will be added to all orders paid by wire transfer.

Returned Goods All claims must be made within 30 days of shipment. Return merchandise will be accepted only with prior authorization and is subject to a 25% restocking charge. No cash refunds will be made after six months from the shipping date.

Damaged Goods Any claim for damages or missing cartons must be filed immediately with the delivery agent. Whenever possible, please provide digital images of damaged goods to assist in expediting the claim.

Our RootsIdentification Plates, Inc is a family owned, Texas-based manufacturer and distributor of stock & custom metal products to a variety of industries worldwide. We stock over 130 different types of sheet metal. In addition to the standard brass, aluminum and plated steel, we also offer hard-to-find nickel silver, copper, anodized aluminum and stainless steel. From this variety of metals we can fabricate hundreds of different shapes and sizes of blanks and custom products for your engraving, sublimation, and laser engraving needs.

Our Custom Capabilities We offer multiple imprinting methods on all our metals to the awards, promotional products, product identification and signage industries. All of our manufacturing is proudly made in the USA in our 40,000 sq. ft. facility in Mesquite, Texas, a suburb of Dallas. We are experts at chemical etching and our frosted gold brass is second to none. In addition to etching we also screen and digitally print on metal. If you have a need for sublimation, we provide that service also. We have multiple sublimation printers and can accommodate most of your metal sublimation needs.

This process provides another great option for adding value and making graphics virtually indestructible. This can be combined with any other marking/decorating process (printing on the embossed area) to create spectacular results.

Custom Embossing & Debossing

The need for plates with unique shapes and sizes is just another reason so many dealers and distributors come to ID Plates. Die cutting, forming, serial numbers, holes, and decorative corners are just a few of our services. Our fabrication team is trained in all aspects of metal manufacturing and we are compliant with ISO 9000 guidelines.

Custom Fabrication

We offer numerous materials for sublimation, including aluminum, brass, copper, nickel silver, and even stainless steel. The beautiful full-color results of sublimation make it a favorite for reproducing photographs. We have the capability to do wide format printing and the capacity to handle large quantities.

Custom Sublimation Printing

Screen printing continues to be popular because it is economical and durable. Virtually all of our metals work with screen printing and we can print multiple colors. The screen printing can be personalized with a laser or rotary engraver.

Custom Etched ProductsChemical etching is the ultimate for marking and decorating metal. Its fine detail, multi-dimensional appearance, and durability make it the preferred marking process for awards, plaque plates, name badges, wallet cards, and even commercial plates.

Etching combines the artistry of chemical engraving with the precision of computer generated graphics to create works of extraordinary quality and beauty. The art or the background can be recessed in the metal to create a texture and look that is unmatched with other marking processes. This look can be further enhanced by including color filling, frosting, or applying a hand-rubbed antique finish. We can also combine etching with screen printing or sublimation to further augment its color and perceived value. Our exclusive ColorFrostTM line is the result of the innovative combination of etching and other printing processes.

The appearance can be further tailored by selecting metals with different colors and finishes. We etch on brass, aluminum, copper, nickel silver, and stainless steel, and each adds their own unique properties.

Brass is one of the most popular metals for engraving. Not only is it the most versatile and easy to work with, it is also regarded as the most attractive due to the gold look when engraved. All brass can be conventionally engraved, screen printed, or used with vinyl applications. Most laser engraving is done on opaque-coated products that have a polished base. Sublimation can be achieved only on the products with a clear lacquer coating.

We offer several types of brass products - coated, uncoated, leaded, marbleized, and laserable. We also have specialty metals such as nickel silver and copper that are part of the brass family. Thicknesses range from .016” to .125” and standard sheet sizes are 12” x 24” and 24” x 48”.

Brass is a mixture of copper, zinc, and, in some items, lead. The six basic alloy mixtures used commonly in our industry are:

Gold Brass

Our gold brass has an alloy mixture of 85% copper and 15% zinc with a clear lacquer coating on one side. Mainly used for rotary or diamond drag engraving, the clear lacquer on the gold brass can be sublimated. When oxidized, the engraved areas will turn black. Often refered to as “trophy brass”.

Colored Brass

Our colored brass has an alloy mixture of 70% copper and 30% zinc with a solid-colored painted surface. It was designed for rotary or diamond drag engraving. This material is not recommended for laser engraving as the exposed areas will be raw, uncoated brass and will oxidize over time.

Laser Brass

Laser brass has a gloss black paint coating over a 70% copper and 30% zinc alloy base that has been polished to a bright finish. While designed for laser engraving, it can also be diamond drag or rotary engraved.

Leaded Brass

This type of brass contains a mixture of 68% copper, 30% zinc, and 2% lead. The addition of lead makes the brass softer and easier to engrave and shear. This combination makes the color of the material more yellow than standard 85/15 engraving brass. Generally used when deep routing and color filling is required, leaded brass will produce beautiful black detail when engraved and oxidized.

Copper

Copper is a very desirable metal for engraving because it oxidizes so well. Cooper is considered a soft metal with copper having a reddish-orange color. Our satin copper product is 99% pure copper.


Satin Copper

Nickel Silver

Nickel silver is actually a copper alloy but silver in color. Our nickel silver is a mixture of 55% copper, 27% zinc and 18% nickel - the zinc and nickel components give it a silver color. Because this material is still a copper-based product, it can be engraved and will oxidize black. Nickel silver is not magnetic.

Plated SteelWe offer both stainless and an economical plated steel. Plated steel is more commonly used for our laserable materials and generally has a plating over a low grade steel. This offers an economical alternative to solid brass. However, the core steel in this product is more susceptible to rust and corrosion than stainless steel.

Stainless SteelStainless steel is a strong, durable metal used mainly for commercial applications. It does not corrode as easy as ordinary steel (but keep in mind, it is stain-less not stain-proof). It has the ability to maintain the same surface color and structure, even after years of use and exposure to elements. All stainless steel products are compatible with laser marking solutions. Thicknesses range from .015” to .062” and standard sheet sizes are 12” x 24” and 24” x 48”. • Type 304 – The most versatile and widely-used stainless steel, it has excellent corrosion resistance in a wide variety of environments. 304 is non-magnetic and accounts for more than half of the stainless steel produced in the world.

• Type 316 – It is more resistant than Type 304 to atmospheric and corrosive environments. 316 stainless steel is non-magnetic and usually regarded as the standard marine / coastal grade stainless steel.

• Type 430 – A softer, more economical steel, it has excellent resistance to nitric attack, which makes it well suited for use in chemical applications. 430 is magnetic and most commonly used for decorative applications such as name badges, wallet cards, commercial plates and signage.

Unlacquered Stainless Steel

Stainless steel is a strong and durable material that is mainly used for commercial applications. Silver in color, it can be marked with a thermal solution using a CO2 laser engraver. Stainless steel can also be rotary engraved, but it is recommended that you consult your equipment manufacturer.

Type 430 Stainless steel is a more economical, softer version and is used in decorative applications. 430 stainless steel is magnetic.

Aluminum is a soft silver-colored metal commonly used for trophy and plaque plates, name badges, and commercial name plates. All aluminum can be conventionally engraved, screen printed, or used with vinyl applications. Laser engraving is typically done on anodized coated aluminum. Sublimation can be achieved only on the products with a special lacquer coating.

We offer several types of aluminum to meet your imprinting needs: coated, sublimatable, anodized, marbleized, and laserable. Thicknesses range from .020” to .125” and standard sheet sizes are 12” x 24” and 24” x 48”.

Satin-Coated Aluminum

Satin (brushed) finishes are created by coating satin aluminum with a transparent lacquer, allowing the metal’s texture to show through. A clear lacquer is used to create satin silver, while tinted (or colored) lacquers are used to create gold and other colors. The transparent lacquer used on our satin aluminum is sublimatable and can also be laser-engraved, creating a satin silver mark.

Opaque-Coated Aluminum

Opaque finishes are created by applying a solid-colored paint to the metal’s surface. In most cases, the paint is applied to a raw aluminum surface. Since there is not a lacquer coating on the painted surface, the opaque finishes will not accept subli-mation. Opaque aluminum finishes can be laser-engraved, but the material will yield a raw, whitish gray mark, not the bright silver finish available on our other laserable aluminum products.

Bright-Coated Aluminum

Bright (mirror) finishes are created by coating polished aluminum with a transparent lacquer, allowing the reflective quality of the metal to shine through. A clear lacquer is used to create bright silver, while tinted (or colored) lacquers are used to create gold and other colors. The transparent lacquer used on our bright aluminum is sublimatable and can also be laser- engraved, creating a bright silver mark.

Anodized Aluminum

Anodized aluminum is created through an electrochemical process which allows the color to penetrate the pores of the alu-minum, resulting in an actual change in the color of the metal surface. Anodized aluminum is harder and more resistant to abrasion and corrosion. Lasers to white-ish / gray. Please note: only one side is prime and mask-protected.

Most anodized aluminums are colored on both sides and can be rotary, diamond drag, or laser-engraved. Laser engraving produces a whitish gray mark. Anodized aluminum is not recommended for sublimation. Our colored anodized aluminum is typically used in decorative applications and is not suitable for outdoor use. However, our satin silver anodized aluminum can be used outdoors.

Laserable Aluminum

Laserable aluminum has an opaque painted surface. Laser engraving removes the paint coating, exposing the bright metal. We offer two styles in the gloss black finish - one laser engraves to bright silver and the other to gold. Green, blue, and red engrave to silver and are only available in 12” x 24” sheets.

DynaSub is specifically designed for sublimation. It is available in four finishes - satin gold, satin silver, gloss white and satin bronze. The special coating on the DynaSub aluminum allows for superior, sharp, four-color process sublimation. Sublimation can be done “through the mask” or directly to the surface of the material (recommended).
