SOMETHING FOR EVERY MEMBER OF THE FAMILY A Letter from the CEO

Whether yours is a big family or you’re a young couple just starting out, we can all benefit from setting aside a little time for sharing experiences that turn into lifelong memories. No matter your age or your gender, your likes or dislikes, we can all appreciate slowing down our busy lives to take in a sunset over a serene mountain lake. It makes no difference if your children are in pre-school or if they have children of their own now, we can all benefit from opportunities for exploration, play, and learning.

In raising my own family, I always felt strongly that we all deserve opportunities for bonding with the people who mean most to us. This is why I invite you and your family to join us here at Frost Valley YMCA. Come hike our many trails, enjoy scenic views such as High Falls, take a canoe out with your children on Lake Cole, or test your courage on our high ropes elements like the zipline. These are the moments that turn a simple weekend away in the mountains into traditions that last for generations to come.

Join us in the autumn, when the foliage is at its peak and activities include making apple cider, painting pumpkins, and going on hayrides. Visit in the winter for cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, ice skating, or simply warming up by the fireplace with a good book and cup of hot cocoa. The springtime is perfect for exploring the wildflowers along our trails, stargazing at our observatory, or sharing songs and stories around the campfire. Even adults can go back to summer camp during our Family Camp in late August, a chance to swim in the lake, practice your archery skills, or go horseback riding.

Although the seasons may change, the children may be getting bigger, the family spreading out, the job getting busier, we all deserve not just time away, but time together. Frost Valley is where families come to grow closer, make new memories, and build traditions. We can’t wait for your family to join us here in the Valley.

Sincerely,

Jerry Huncosky CEO

P.S. This brochure highlights our scheduled theme weekends, but you are welcome to join us at Frost Valley YMCA throughout the season. We are open to groups, families, and individuals every weekend from September through June.

MAP OF MAIN CAMP

Page 31: Visit For A Weekend, Build Traditions For Generations

frostvalley.org | 26

Surrounded by Catskill Mountain peaks just 2 ½ hours north of New York City, Frost Valley YMCA is a summer camp at heart—all year long.

We provide year-round access to nature, adventure, and education to people of all ages and abilities, from summer camp and school programs to group and family retreats to equestrian and other specialty groups.

Our Teambuilding Programs focus on conflict resolution, communication, and goal setting, to allow corporate, professional, and educational groups the opportunity to learn effective and fun ways to work together toward mutual goals through problem solving challenges and adventure courses.

The Tokyo-Frost Valley Partnership provides a home base for Japanese families to receive regular support and take a respite from the work, school, and social stresses of life in a foreign country. All programming is coordinated with YMCAs in Westchester and New York City.

Our School Programs Department partners with educators to design and conduct programs that meet New York and New Jersey state curriculum standards as well as the requirements of the New York City Watershed Education Grants. In our vast outdoor classroom, learning is experiential and student-centered, focusing on the environment, character and group development.

At East Valley Ranch, surrounded by hundreds of acres of forest, fields, horses, and trails, guests are free to enjoy a slower pace. You may opt for total privacy and the freedom to create your own weekend retreat schedule or allow Frost Valley staff to customize a program for you from our many offerings, including horseback riding, adventure challenges, hiking, arts and crafts, and much more.

Frost Valley’s Outdoor Sporting Memberships provide nature enthusiasts access to over 5,000 acres of forest, fields, lakes, rivers, and trails to hike, camp, fish, and hunt.

Dining at Frost Valley includes a vast array of options from the nutritionally-balanced “typical” kid fare to gluten-free, dairy-free, vegetarian and/or vegan options to meet the dietary needs of all of our guests.

Guenther Family Wellness Center, a state-of-the-art healthcare facility located on the main camp, is staffed by EMT’s and registered nurses 24 hours a day. The health and well-being of Frost Valley YMCA’s guests is our top priority.

Frost Valley YMCA’s Annual Giving Campaign is vital to our mission. Without the generous support of donors, we would not be able to provide financial assistance and impactful programming to those in need.

Project 332 is an integral part of our Annual Giving Campaign. Through this initiative, over 500 children experience the wonder of Frost Valley YMCA each year. project332.org
