donors, we exceeded

our $20,000 goal!!

More than 375 registrants, including more than

100 who registered on-site the day of the race,

enjoyed a chilly, but sunny day on City Island. A

sincere thank-you to everyone who showed up to

join the fun.

Vinny’s Kids, Inc. was founded in 2004 by Vinny Cherry, then 14 years old, to provide sick children with entertainment during their hospital stay. Inspired by his own experience while hospitalized at age 7,

Vinny hoped to make the experience less stressful for young patients.

Working through Child Life Services of the Pinnacle Health System, the program initially outfitted an activities room at the Harrisburg Hospital pediatric unit.

Since then, Vinny’s Kids has expanded its outreach to other organizations for children facing chronic or life-threatening illnesses, other hospital-based pediatric programs and special needs programs. Camp Victory, a network of camps for children with specialized medical needs, and Camp Echo, both of which draw chronically ill children from the Central Pennsylvania area are the most recent recipients.

The VK5K was created to support and raise awareness of Vinny’s Kids, Inc.’s programs.

Celebrity guest Dennis Owens, abc27 anchor, will emcee the awards cermony and door prize draw-ing, beginning immediately following the race in the City Island Carousel Pavilion.

Prize money will be awarded to the top three over-all male and female finishers and the top overall male and female masters.

Third Place $25

Masters $50

(Prizes do not overlap. You must be present to collect your prize.)

AGE GROUPSPrizes will be awarded to the top three male and female age group finishers. No duplicate awards. Age group categories are as follows:

14 & under 20-29 40-49 60 & over15-19 30-39 50-59

DOOR PRIZES A random door prize drawing will follow the awards ceremony. You must be present to win.

Complete results will be posted on www.vinnyskids.org and www.pretzelcitysports.com within 24 to 48 hours.

RACE DAY REGISTRATION AND PACKET PICKUP

Race day registration and packet pickup begins at 8:30 a.m. at the City Island Carousel Pavilion. The race starts promptly at 10 a.m. in front of the Carousel Pavilion.

Late and race day entrants are not guaranteed a race shirt.

The VK5K is a rain, snow or shine event. Sorry, no refunds.

The flat, fast VK5K course starts and finishes on City Island. Race timing provided by Pretzel City Sports.

Post-race food and refreshments, available in the Carousel Pavilion, will be provided by Aroogas, Hoss’s Steak and Sea House - Hummelstown, Starbucks, Wilsbach Distributors and Bimbo Bakeries USA.
