Regrettably, as a result of the pressure applied by the President's Automotive Task Force appointed by the U.S. Treasury, Chrysler was required to reduce its dealer body. Our store was among the hundreds of stores whose franchise was terminated as a direct result of the manufacturers' bankruptcy filing. However, through the affected dealers' perseverance, President Obama signed federal legislation as part of the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2010 which enacted House of Representatives Bill 3288 ("H.R. 3288"). A section within this Bill provides our dealership the right to enter into binding arbitration to determine whether or not we should be reinstated. The arbitrator will decide on our reinstatement based upon the best interest of the dealer, the manufacturer and the general public. IYA VILLAGE AUTOMOTIVE sales + service center

To Whom It May Concern:

I am writing to you on behalf of the employees, customers and local businesses who do business with Village Automotive f/k/a Village Chrysler-Jeep here in Royal Oak. As a local business within your community since 1990, we have worked tirelessly to not only provide the highest level of service to our loyal customer base but to be a responsible corporate citizen in our community.

We are now asking for your help.

As one of only two new car dealers who were located on Woodward, how Royal Oak would be impacted by a darkened storefront and the subsequent loss of jobs and tax base? Are the residents of Royal Oak better served to travel to neighboring areas to purchase or service their vehicle? Most of the businesses which we do business with are also small businesses located in our area. How will the arbitrator's decision impact them?

How can you help? If you concur that businesses such as ours did not create the economic turmoil our state is suffering, but we do represent the very catalyst required to help our state back on the road to recovery, please take a few minutes to write a note in support of our business and its impact to our community.

Please forward your comments to my attention at: rbeattieautohahnnetwork.com or to: The AutoHahn Network, attn: Randy Beattie, 31200 Woodward, Royal Oak, MI 48073. All comments will be provided to the arbitrator as part of our presentation.

Your help is very much needed and appreciated by all of us at Village Automotive f/k/a Village Chrysler-Jeep. We have enjoyed serving the community for the past 20 years and would very much like to continue doing so for many years to come. Thank you for anything you can do to help us make this happen.

February 2, 2010 To Whom It May Concern:

As the Mayor for the City of Royal Oak, I would like to address the parties concerned with the disposition of the franchise termination which has befallen Village Automotive. We need not cite the status of "these economic times," of which we are all too acutely aware. What we prefer to address is the impact that the loss of this business would mean to the city and its residents.

Village Automotive has been in Royal Oak for almost twenty years, having moved from Birmingham just north of us after a long tenure in that city. It has a substantial history of serving customers of southeast Oakland County in their needs for automobile purchases, both new and used, as well as vehicle servicing. Its location on Woodward Avenue, which has just been designated an "American Road," adjacent to one of the City of Royal Oak's premier parks provides it with a visual impact that reminds us all that we are indeed along one of the tendrils of the "Motor City".

If, in fact, Village Automotive should lose its franchise, the loss of the business would have multiple negative impacts on Royal Oak. First would be the loss of those vital tax revenues which our municipality needs to help us maintain basic services. Secondly, the vacant lot and display building on Woodward would be unsightly and provide opportunity for undesirable occurrences such as the placement of graffiti, signs and unwanted vehicle parking. This would require additional patrolling by our already hard-pressed police staff to deter these and other unwanted activities. Additionally, this business has helped to act as a buffer between the Woodward Ave. activity and congestion and the residential neighborhood nestled in behind it.

Village Automotive's slogan is "Our Goal is Customers for Life". To know that this business has worked for decades to become a top notch automotive dealer and to build a clientele that would faithfully look to them for their automotive needs should be a testament to their longevity and integrity. To eradicate what Village Automotive has worked so hard to achieve seems counter productive.

Yours truly,

es B. Ellison ayor, City of Royal Oak

• fibmaANDTE COUNTY MICHIGAN L. BROOKS PATTERSON, OAKLAND COUNTY EXECUTIVE

To whom it may concern:

As Oakland County Executive, I wholeheartedly support AutoHahn Network in their arbitration to retain their Auburn GMC dealership in Pontiac, Michigan, and Village Automotive (Chrysler-Jeep) dealership in Royal Oak, Michigan.

AutoHahn Network is a significant employer and taxpayer in Oakland County. Before they lost their GMC and Chrysler franchises, AutoHahn employed 175 people at an average salary of $41,000 per year. They now are down to 80 employees. If they were to close, that represents a loss of more than $3 million a year in purchasing power within our communities. In addition, the dealerships pay a total of $1.2 million to small vendors whose livelihoods depend on providing services to AutoHahn.

If AutoHahn were to shut its doors, local, county and state government would lose more than $800,000 a year in payroll, business and property taxes combined. In an era of shrinking budgets, every penny collected in taxes counts. In Michigan, we have felt the greatest impact from revenue losses because our unemployment rate is the highest in the United States.

• Those in Oakland County who are unable to help themselves also will be affected if AutoHahn does not receive a favorable arbitration. AutoHahn donates significant money through a foundation to social service organizations such as CARE House, HAVEN, Common Ground, New Horizons and the United Way. These organizations serve abused and neglected children, protect women from domestic violence, provide psychiatric services to the indigent and help those in need find employment. In an economy where charitable giving has declined, the loss of AutoHahn's tens of thousands of dollars in donations will no doubt be a sting to the local social service community.

AutoHahn has a third dealership, a Pontiac dealership in Waterford, Michigan, which sold its last new model vehicle at the start of this year. Now, they sell only used cars and do warranty work on newer models. That will be the fate of Auburn GMC and Village Automotive if their GMC and Chrysler franchises are not restored. Prior to losing their new-car dealerships, new car sales and warranty work on those new cars is what allowed AutoHahn —even in this economy — to turn a profit. If they have to rely on used car sales and auto maintenance work to earn money, all three dealerships are expected to go into the red and fold.

Therefore, I strongly urge the arbitrator under House Resolution 3288 to restore AutoHahn's GMC and Chrysler-Jeep franchises. It will not only save three car dealerships, but also help a whole community of people who depend upon them.

Yours very respectfully,

To Whom It May Concern:

The City Commission of the City of Royal Oak would like to recognize Village Automotive as a contributing member of our business community. They have been a credit to the auto industry and to this community for many years.

We were dismayed that such a wonderful business had been denied the ability to continue to serve as a Chrysler-Jeep dealership, but we are encouraged that they have been given an opportunity to seek reinstatement. We cannot state strongly enough that we wholeheartedly wish to support Village Automotive in this endeavor. We believe that reinstatement of the Chrysler-Jeep dealership would be good for the brand, good for Woodward Avenue, and good for the citizens of Royal Oak. They are a respected business and occupy a highly visible location in one of our largest and most important retail shopping areas.

• Village Chrysler-Jeep is strategically located on Woodward Avenue. Without their continued presence, the choices available to local residents and those who travel Woodward Avenue will be significantly reduced. I hope you will consider allowing them to remain as a viable dealership within our community.

January 29, 2010

To Whom It May Concern:

Royal Oak is a medium sized town, located at the convergence of 2 major expressways, and intersected by the oldest thoroughfare in Michigan, Woodward Avenue. We are centrally located in the Detroit metropolitan area, midway between Pontiac and Detroit. Our location is key because of the huge volume of traffic that passes through our community. Our population consists of primarily blue-collar workers and more recently, young entrepreneurial types. In spite of our 50,000+ residents, we are a very tightly knit small town, with small town values.

The Village Chrysler-Jeep dealership has been a productive and contributing member of the Royal Oak business community for many years. They are a respected business and occupy a highly visible location in our largest and most important retail shopping area.

Our Chamber of Commerce and businesses have always stressed the importance of buying local and in the case of automobiles — buying American. It has recently become almost a battle cry locally, and even those who have not subscribed to this philosophy in the past,. are displaying a loyalty to local businesses that I have not seen in the 35 years I have lived here. We all have a stake in the local economy.

Village Chrysler-Jeep is strategically located on Woodward Avenue. Without their continued presence, the choices available to local residents and those who travel Woodward Avenue, will be significantly reduced. I hope you will consider allowing them to remain as a viable dealership within our community.

OAKLAND COUNTY TREASURER 1200 N. TELEGRAPH RD., DEPT. 479

PONTIAC, MI 48341-0479

ANDY MEISNER COUNTY TREASURER

JAMES VANLEUvEN CHIEF DEPUTY TREASURER

To Whom It May Concern:

I support the arbitration process of the AutoHahn Network in trying to hold on to their Auburn Pontiac-GMC dealership, which has been part of the community since 1990, as well as retain their Village Automotive dealership in Royal Oak.

For one to take pride in their business one must have an established sense of community and a sense of respect for that community in which they work. I am proud that Auburn Pontiac-GMC and Village Automotive have shown interest in the betterment of Oakland County in the service that they have given their customers and the charitable donations that are made by the AutoHahn Network to organizations throughout Oakland County. It would be a true detriment to the community if the AutoHahn Network would not be able to continue to contribute to all of the local groups throughout Oakland County, especially during economic times in which charitable giving has become increasingly difficult. AutoHahn has made significant donations to organizations such as Common Ground, Haven and New Horizons.

As Oakland County Treasurer, I recommend that during the arbitration process, these dealerships be restored.

Sincerely,

'741-7114.*:••oft.-- Andy Meisner Oakland County Treasurer

Dear Mr. Beattie:

I am upset business wise and personally that Village Chrysler and Jeep was one of the dealerships that was forced to close. I have owned Chryslers in the past and always bought at your dealership because of the your great service center.

Your company helps Royal Oak to grow by offering its citizens a great place to purchase and service their vehicles. When the residents go outside the city it hurts all area business

In Michigan we need more business to help to keep the economy going, not less. If we have less that means more unemployed people for the government to take care of. All of your employees have been with Village for many years and it would be a shame to add them of the unemployment lists.

I sincerely hope to see Village Chrysler and Jeep up and running soon.

Best wishes,

To Whom It May Concern:

My name is Larry Payne Jr. I am the Vice President of Duggan's Irish Pub on Woodward Avenue in Royal Oak, MI. I am writing you on behalf of Village Automotive, formerly Village Chrysler-Jeep also on Woodward Avenue in Royal Oak, MI. I sincerely believe that closing down this dealership would be very devastating to the city of Royal Oak as well as to our business here. Village Chrysler-Jeep has been a staple in our community for over ten years. My family and friends from Royal Oak, who own chryslers, have bought from the woodward location over the years. When their business thrives, our business thrives as well. For example, if someone brings there car into the dealership for an oil change, maintenance, etc, they then may visit our restaurant for lunch. Also, every year in the city of Royal Oak, the annual Woodward Dream Cruise is held. With over a million spectators coming to watch a free car show and Village Chrysler-Jeep being right in the middle of it all, how much more advertisement could Chrysler ask for. In the end, I truly hope you consider the communities response when you are deciding on this matter. The "small business" is not responsible for our current economic crisis, but I honestly believe that the "small business" is what is going to bring this economy back to a prospering status. Thank You very much for taking this letter under consideration when making your decision.

Sincerely,

Larry M. Payne Jr. Vice President

Dear Mr. Beattie,

Thank you for your letter of January 21, 2010 regarding the loss of the franchise for Village Automotive, Village Chrysler -Jeep of Royal Oak. I was very sorry to see that your fine dealership was on the infamous list of the disenfranchised. As a former resident of Birmingham, just north of you, I have never been even slightly offended by your dealership in any way.

Dealers Supply Company is a family-owned business established in 1934 by my father, Walt Myers. He operated the company until his death at age 97, and no one cared more about car dealers than my dad. Although he did experience the closing of Oldsmobile, I'm glad he did not live to endure the chaos caused the latest moves by the manufacturers.

The closing of dealerships greatly impacts us at Dealers Supply. Our sales have taken a nosedive, and we have had to downsize accordingly. People who invested the best years of their lives with us are now among the unemployed. In Washington, they are just numbers, but to our company, they are like family. They are hurting and disillusioned with the kinds of beliefs they grew up with about what America is all about.

I certainly do agree that car dealerships like Village Chrysler -Jeep did not create the economic turmoil we are suffering. In fact, I can't believe that anyone can honestly try to make a case that it is otherwise! • On behalf of everyone at Dealers Supply Company, I wish you the very best of luck convincing the powers that be that closing dealerships works against, not for, the recovery we all want and need. Let me know if there is anything else I can do.

Sincerely,

Sally MO.

Randy-

Having just celebrated our 30 th year in business in Royal Oak in 2009, I rtalin what tremendous sacrifice privately owned businesses have to make in order to survive the ups and downs of the economy here in Michigan.

Focusing on customer service to earn and retain customers is hard to find in this "too big to fail" cookie cutter business environment that has led this country down this path of near financial ruin.

It is the smaller, locally owned businesses who are socially engaged in the local • community that are the backbone of what made America great.

As you approach your 40th year in business here, I hope that those with your fate in their hands realize that it is businesses like yours that are vital to the local economy and an important part of the fabric of what our country represents.

The customers you draw to this community will perhaps spend money at a local restaurant, or come back to shop at a store that they noticed on the way to purchase their car. Your employees will certainly spend the bulk of their income in our community, enroll their kids in local schools and that will help those businesses and schools stay open and allow their employees to continue to keep their money in the community and so on... and so on...

Wishing you the best,

Mr. Beattie:

I purchased a Sebring convertible made in Sterling Heights, MI from Village Chrysler Jeep in

Royal Oak in February 2009. I was shocked when the dealership lost its franchise. My

family has bought three vehicles from Village and we have always been very satisfied with the product, price and service we received from Village. We live within two miles of the

dealership.

As the co-owner of the oldest family-owned business in Royal Oak, it saddens me to drive

by Village Automotive on a daily basis and see them struggle to survive on used car sales. I

truly think they deserve to get the Chrysler Jeep franchise back. Royal Oak does not need another vacant or underutilized building in a prime location. I find it hard to believe that

Village was an underperforming dealer. I hope they are given another chance.

I find it incredible that your operation was considered expendable by the powers to be at Chrysler Co. I have no idea how successful you dealer ship stacked up to the criteria Chrysler established as to who stays and who goes. But it would seam to me that there is

absolutely no better location in all of Michigan for your business and the product you represent. The "Avenue" as it is often referred to has a constant day and night flow of traffic that unpareled in our area. Then there is annual Dream Cruse that draws thousands of spectators and participants displaying the very thing that made Michigan famous Cars. How could this very important location not be considered prime. Sure seams to me it is time for reconsideration. I sure hope you are successful in this endeavor.

Dear Randy Beattie at Village Automotive,

I am writing you on behalf of Changez Salon & Merle Norman Cosmetics, a fellow local business. We are located on the corner of Crooks and 13 Mile Road, in a strip mall with Tania's Pizza. Having been in Royal Oak the duration of the salon's existence, we understand the importance of support from the community in running and maintaining a successful business. We wish to offer you support in your plight to collect letters from the community.

Royal Oak is a small, close-knit community. Everyone relies on everyone else. Although we are not merely a jog across the street from you, our salon feels that if you were to be terminated, we would experience the effects all the way across town. We, too, work with other businesses to both advertise and expand our business; we believe that if your dealership were to be terminated, the effects would be detrimental to all other businesses you work with.

During the economic crisis, it is important to hold on to what we have and continue to strengthen our businesses and the ties that we hold to other businesses. The jobs that would be lost by this termination would not only create strife in your own lives, but also in the lives of those around you. Our businesses may lose customers due to a lack of funds, which would, in turn, hurt us as a company. Without the opportunity to purchase a car from you, clients may not be able to come to appointments, thereby hurting us further. The companies that you work with would also feel the effects; through a lack of promotion and those deals that you have established with them, their businesses will suffer.

It is an utter shame that the decision has been made to terminate your dealership and we hope that through letters like our own and further support from the community, you can continue to serve the community of Royal Oak.

Sincerely, Zoe Fields Changez Salon & Merle Norman Cosmetics email: [email protected] phone: (248) 288-3434

Dear Randy,

As a long time business neighbor, I am upset that Village Chrysler Jeep was forced to close.

Your company helped our community, including myself, by using our services and product on a daily basis. With the closure of Village as a Chrysler Jeep dealership, it limits the revenue brought to our community as well as the local businesses of which we all depend upon to support our families. It does not make sense why Chrysler would close a dealership located on one of the most predominant avenues in the area — Woodward Avenue — Home of the Woodward Dream Cruise. All of your employees have been with Village for many years and it would be disappointing to have them become unemployed.

I support your efforts to reinstate Village Chrysler Jeep as a Chrysler Jeep dealership, not only for the community, but for the hundreds of families that depend on you.

I think you should be reinstated as a Chrysler dealer. If we have a problem with our vehicles we have to find a dealer willing to accept us. My daughter had a problem with her Liberty very recently, and Village couldn't help, she was referred to 14 & John R, but they couldn't help as they were getting ready to move. She ended up at 14 & VanDyke, not as convenient to say the least.

We picked your dealership for the location, the service, and the staff, and did resent hearing that you were closing.

I hope this note helps in some small way.

Thank you, Estelle LUIS

Hello,

I am writing to express my concern about the possibility of Village Automotive in Royal Oak being closed. I am concerned moreso with how Royal Oak would be impacted as it relates to additional job loss in the already struggling state.

Please seriously consider allowing this pillar in the local community to remain open and continue to provide service and also provide much needed employment.

Sincerely,

To Whom it May Concern:

Our business done with Village Automotive was a pleasure as well as much needed revenue.

It is business's like Village Automotive that are willing to fight for their right to do business that are the ones we need most. This is the aggressiveness we need from business owners especially in tough economic times that peruse excellence and solutions that help the community, generate jobs and tax payers.

Eliminating Village Automotive in the hopes we will find another entrepreneur of their ability to replace them would be short sighted to say the least.

We need Village Automotive Doing business in our community.

As the owner and operator of a small business located here in Michigan servicing the Automobile industry, to say the times in which we live with the Economics what they are, Have hurt us all. The automobile dealerships in our community are vital to my business. My business is barely making it by nowadays with all the closures and job loss. I have been a vendor to the Hahn group for several years, and greatly depend on their loyal business as well as the other dealerships around town that continue to barely remain open. I am extremely grateful for what little work I still have. The people of this community, Royal Oak, and the surrounding cities need this dealership to remain open for business.(wallmart is not the answer for buying your next car) We need the local Sales and Service of the Hahn Motor Group. If things continue in the direction they have been these last couple years, I am not only afraid for Michigan and America, but for my family, neighbors, and other small businesses as well.

They are a respected business and occupy a • highly visible location in our largest and most important retail shopping area.

Our Chamber of Commerce and businesses have always stressed the importance of buying local and in the case of automobiles — buying American. It has recently become almost a battle cry locally, and even those who have not subscribed to this philosophy in the past, are displaying a loyalty to local businesses that I have not seen in the 35 years I have lived here.

Respectfully,

Patricia A. Capello City of Royal Oak City Commissioner

Dear Randy,

I am the owner of the Liberty Tax Service in Royal Oak at 12 mile and Woodward. I would like to make a statement about the clousure of the car dealerships in michigan especially in Royal Oak.

I believe that the car zars that made the decision to close all those dealerships didnt have a clue how to manage or run a business let alone a car dealership. none of them even own or drive an american made vehicle. i understand the dealerships that were ordered to close for some odd reason didnt pay into the election fund to elect the persident that we have now. the dealerships that were approved to stay open were the ones that gave a large donation to the campaign fund. i think that was a crummy deal if that is the way they decided which dealerships to close. by the way, i am an auto worker at the present time and i lost my skilled trade in this transaction too. there is no room for the government to own or operate a car company in my mind. i hope this matter is reconsidered and the car zars allow our dealerships in michigan to stay open and sell our american made cars. This is strictly my opinion and has nothing to do with Liberty Tax Service.

sincerely yours, Jim Reed Liberty Tax Service Royal Oak, Mi.

Dear Randy,

Please include this letter in your arsenal as proof positive of the need to reinstate the franchise of your Chrysler Dealership. As an employee of many years with AAA who has worked at 3 different AAA locations on Woodward Ave., I feel very strongly about the strength your dealership poses in the Royal Oak community. I've been active in the Royal Oak Chamber of Commerce for years and there's one thing that Royal Oak has that many other cities lack, and that's direct local support for it's businesses.

The Royal Oak area still continues to thrive throughout these tough economic times. I not only have been a customer of your dealership, I have many customers who have been extremely pleased with your products and services, and I used to refer new car customers to you since you are just down the road. All businesses in Royal Oak and the surrounding areas support their local businesses and it's evident in the success of not only larger companies but also neighborhood shops.

Your dealership is just on the outskirts of the Motor City with a great location to display American automobiles. I can speak for not only myself but all the employees at the AAA locations surrounding your dealership, when I say we are in full support that you should be reinstated as a franchisee of Chrysler and take back your much needed presence in this community as Village Chrysler-Jeep.

Randy -

I am writing to express my disappointment that Village Chrysler is not selling new Chrysler vehicles anymore. I understand the decision was made not by Village Chrysler but by Chrysler itself in an effort to reduce the dealership network. I have had nothing but very positive experiences at Village and was very disappointed that I had to deal with another dealer in the area for a new lease on a Chrysler vehicle.

I also understand there may be a chance for Village to be re-instated and I sincerely hope it would be able to do so. I believe it is in the best interest of the consumer to have additional options for dealerships in the area, especially with the location(s) that you serve. I believe that competition is very crucial to the overall success of the economy in the Detroit area and Village Chrysler would provide the opportunity we need as consumers.

Dear Mr. Beattie,

I was saddened to hear that your Village Chrysler Jeep was targeted by the President's Automotive Task force ruling to cause Chrysler to close many dealerships, including yours, throughout the U. S. A.

The Village franchise has been a good neighbor in the Royal Oak area providing jobs, services and of course selling new and used cars. Village and their staff also has supported local charities as well as local businesses including restaurants, gas stations and other service industries.

Driving through the business district there are literally hundreds of commercial buildings for sale or rent. Many are a one purpose facility and when they are closed, chances our slim they will ever be used again.

As a business owner in Royal Oak for over 41 years, I understand your frustration. If it were a case of mismanagement or criminal activity I would understand. However this is not the case. You have been a force the community for 20 years and you deserve to have your dealership reinstated or receive just compensation.

I was a faithful customer of Village Chrysler/Jeep almost from its inception until its affiliation with the parent company was recently terminated. I have taken my father-in-law's company-leased vehicles to Village for service since the 1990's and was always completely satisfied with our treatment. I leased my own Grand Cherokee there in 2005 and was pleased with the entire sales and service process. I recently (Oct 2009) purchased a new Jeep Patriot and have also been content with my experience.

I was saddened when I heard that Village would no longer be a Chrysler/Jeep affiliate because it had become an "anchor" on the Woodward strip here in South Oakland County. Woodward Avenue and Royal Oak are synonymous with the automobile industry and to take away such a visible window into her company and product was, in my mind, a big mistake by the Chrysler Corporation.

I'm hoping that those involved in the arbitration process would see fit to reinstate the Chrysler/Jeep logo to Village, Royal Oak, and Woodward Ave. Not only does Royal Oak and Woodward deserve the power of the Chrysler brand, Chrysler needs Village.

To whom it may concern:

Autocom provides sales and service customer follow-up calls to auto dealers. Our dealers use the results of our calls to solve individual customer concerns and hopefully, to reduce future customer problems. In this capacity we have called virtually every Village sales and service customer since 1986.

Based on the results of our calls and comments from their customers, Village has consistently been one of our top performers in customer satisfaction for over twenty years.

While most of our dealers employ Autocom strictly as a CSI effort, management at Village has consistently shown a sincere interest in overall customer satisfaction for as long as I have been involved with the dealership. This attitude comes directly from Bill Hahn, Sr. and is instilled in each and every employee, simply because Mr. Hahn truly believes a satisfied customer is more likely to become a repeat customer.

The proof is in the structure of the call program designed for Village:

Village requires we call all customers, new and used, warranty and customer pay, not just those customers eligible for a CSI survey.

Village requires we generate a statistical analysis of service customer responses twice a month, rather than our typical month-end report.

I see further evidence of this attitude every day from my own customer service representatives. They would rather call Village customers because more of them are completely satisfied with their dealership experience. My people have fewer incident reports to write and the calls are much more likely to be pleasant ones.

Personally, I can't speak for Village's profitability or importance in their local business community, but I can tell you they do an outstanding job at keeping their customers happy, as well as keeping their customers, period. Village has always excelled at customer retention, both sales and service, and every customer Village keeps is a customer Chrysler keeps... or will keep if Village becomes a Chrysler dealer again.

MR RANDY BEATTIE VILLAGE AUTOMOTIVE 31200 WOODWARD AVENUE BIRMINGHAM MI 48073-0927

Dear Randy:

We were very disappointed and confused as to the number of automobile dealerships in the Detroit metropolitan area that were closed. This created a large number of people who had the misfortune of becoming unemployed when the economy was in very bad condition in the State of Michigan. The job market was almost non-existent, there-fore all the closing of the dealerships did was create a higher number of unemployed people.

In having talked about this situation with the general public, they seem very confused. They had purchased vehicles from a dealership that no longer is in a position to provide the appropriate service. In addition, if they wish to buy a new vehicle, they have to travel a great distance to a dealership that would sell a vehicle that they were interested in. The alternative was to buy a vehicle from a different dealer which in some cases resulted in a purchase from a foreign dealership. This not only eliminates the money staying in the United States but results in it going overseas. This cannot help the economy of the United States, the State of Michigan, or the community in which the dealership which was closed had been located.

We would strongly urge consideration be given to re-instating Village Automotive, for-merly known as Village Chrysler Jeep, in Royal Oak, Michigan. Thank you for your con-sideration.

Randy,

My Step-Father was the past President & CEO of General Motors. His name was Edward Cole and he served in that capacity from 1967-1974. My allegiance is first to General Motors and second to the automotive industry as a whole. I believe I have the ability to speak to the need for the sales & service network far better than most individuals you will reach. I fully agree there are many dealerships which deserve to close. I do not believe that Village should be placed in that group. You have been a valued community supporter in many ways for many years and I believe it would be a enormous mistake to strip this area of another one of its remaining employers. It is my opinion that if you are able to remain profitable thn that should be the only determining factor that determines your fate. If you can't then market forces will eventually make the dcision for you. I have always heard good things about your operation and wish you the best in your efforts. Although I would likely not be a customer, unless there is a further consolidation in the industry that combined GM & Chrysler, I fully support your efforts to keep your operation running.

My family actually has an interest in a dealership, in Texas, that survived the cuts.

Dear Mr. Beattie - I am writing to express my support for the reinstatement of Village Chrysler-Jeep. The dealership was a vibrant, viable business. It brought people in to browse and buy and was an important component of the commercial life on our local Woodward strip.

My husband and I were good customers. We leased a minimum of twelve vehicles from the dealership over a period of fifteen years. We always depended on Village to take care of us - letting us know about deals and incentives, always getting us the best price. We believe this was due to the personal relationships we built with the sales and support staff. We were able to build these relationships because Village Chrysler was a local business - which we were happy to support.

I have been a life-long resident of the Royal Oak Beverly Hills area. I have seen good times come and go and now, hopefully, begin to come back again. I would very much like to see Village Chrysler Jeep lead the way in our local financial recovery. They have been active members of the economic community, dependable and honest business associates, and very good neighbors.

• To whom it may concern,

I am writing this letter on behalf of what was Village Chrysler Jeep (VCJ) at one and is now Village Automotive. I my oppion to was a total mistake to take the new car dealership away from them. I have bought several new cars from them throughout the years. They are a respectable dealership to work with and I never feel taken advantage of when dealing with them. They are a "no frills dealership", offering good deals to there customers. I recently purchased a 2009 Dodge Journey from Village Automotive and was forced to go to another dealership to get warranty work performed. I trust Village Automotive and would have preferred to have them do the repairs. It takes a great deal of time to build a trust with a dealership, and I have that with Village. Also with taking away their dealership you are forcing me to go to away from the so called "no frills dealership" where I received great deals and great service. Now I have to go to a dealership that has a huge showroom, on a busy street, with outrageous overhead , offers me cappuccino instead of just coffee, scones instead of donuts. With these "frills Dealerships" the costs are passed onto the consumer, the dealership does not absorb them. In these tough economic times every cent matters to the consumer. Not to mention trying establishing a new trust with a new dealership. As far as I am concerned I will stay with Village Automotive, with the hope that you will return their new Car Dealership.

Dear Mr. Beattie, I was very happy to read that Village Automotive is going to arbitration to determine if it may be reinstated as a Chrysler dealership. I certainly hope that the arbitrator will decide in your favor, as I wholeheartedly think that he/she should. Village Chrysler had a perfect central location with a large prominent storefront on one of the busiest roads in the metro Detroit area. My husband and I had bought or leased new cars from Village for well over ten years, and we always worked with the same salesman. You must have been doing something right to retain employees so long, especially in this day and age. We were so disappointed when you terminated your franchise agreement that we did not even go elsewhere to buy a new Chrysler. We just took an old car from a friend. That is probably not what Chrysler had in mind when it consolidated dealerships.

With so many confusing and overwhelming auto-malls in the area, we need a high quality dealership like Village back in its convenient and prominent location. I will anxiously wait to hear of the arbitrator's decision.

Sincerely, Jennifer OW

Dear Mr. Beattie, We have purchased several cars from Village Chrysler, after being encouraged to visit your dealership by the then Chairman of Chrysler, Robert Eaton. After we had a bad experience at another dealership, he recommended Village Chrysler-Jeep. He believed that it was the best dealership in the area. Imagine our surprise when it was listed to lose it's franchise. I believe that this area needs this dealership and that the loss of it negatively impacts the recovery of Michigan economy and the Ro_yal Oak/Birmingham area. Kristine RIM

To Whom it May Concern,

My name is Brian We and I'm writing on behalf of Village Automotive. My wife, sister in-law, brother in-law, and myself have purchased and/or leased 11 cars from Village Chrysler Jeep in the last 10 years. We also went there for service and warranty work. I HATED what happened to the manufacturing industry in the United States and feel like Village (along with several others) got caught in the crossfire. I really like Jeep products and will probably always drive one I just want to be able to purchase it down the street from where I live from the people that have always taken care of any issue my family or I has ever had. They are a great dealership. Please let them be a great Chrysler Jeep dealership again. If you have any questions please contact me at111111.111)

Dear Mr. Beattie, My name is Dana L 1111111. I purchased my first Jeep Cherokee from Village Chrysler Jeep in

1998, and I have been a satisfied customer ever since. My entire family has purchased all of our vehicles at Village over the years, except for this year when we were not able to work with our Village sales professional, Mr. Dennis Golubowski. I was deeply disappointed that Village Automotive became a casualty in the government takeover of the auto industry. I would love to see this dealership restored to new car sales once again. In fact, I will be purchasing a new Jeep vehicle next fall and I would prefer to work with Mr. Golubowski and Village to make that happen.

I would like to offer some feedback with regards to the issue of the location of Village Automotive and whether this business is good for the Royal Oak community or not. I do not live in Royal Oak--I actually travel approximately 40 minutes to the Village Automotive dealership from Clarkston. There are (were) plenty of Jeep dealers in my neighborhood, however I always chose to drive to Royal Oak because of the excellent customer service I received at Village. No matter what my vehicle needs were, Mr. Golubowski and the team at Village consistently came through to deliver the best sales and service. Whether we needed automatic car starters installed, or an emergency trade in of a car for an SUV, Mr. Golubowski made the tasks possible and easy to accomplish.

I intended to be a lifelong customer at Village Chrysler Jeep until the restructuring occurred. Restoring this dealership to its rightful place in the Royal Oak community will allow me to maintain my loyalty to the Jeep brand. I must admit I have been considering other American vehicle brands because of the loss of my favorite dealership.

On a final note, Mr. Bill Hahn, the owner of Village Automotive, has conducted his business with • the highest standards from day one. Village Automotive is a contributor to the Royal Oak community and a positive advantage for car buyers in the local area. I cannot think of any reason why this dealership should close and I certainly hope that my input in this matter will help to restore it to a full-service new vehicle dealership once again. If there is anything else I can do to assist you in your efforts to maintain the dealership, please feel

free to contact me at 248-877-2817 or [email protected] . I wish you and the team at Village Automotive best of luck in your efforts to bring this dealership

back. Sincerely, Dana 1_411.11111111

As you know Royal Oak like many communities in Michigan is struggling with a declining tax base.l'm sure everyone in this area would love to see Village Chrysler Jeep back in business at 31200 Woodward and not a vacant lot on a road famous for it's automotive history. The impact of the dealerhip permanently closing certainly will have negative ramifications for THE ENTIRE SURROUNDING AREA..Thanks for your consideration in this matter and hopefully we have a positive result.

Randy Beattie Village Automotive 31200 Woodward Ave. Royal Oak, MI 48073

Subject: Need to Keep Village, arbitration

Dear Arbritrator, My experience with Village Automotive (Village Chrysler-Jeep) spans over twenty years. The dealership, its

management, owner and staff have not only provided our community with products and reputable service not available to me locally by other dealers, but have been a pillar of professionalism, appearance of the dealership, and community support that is rare to find elsewhere. It is a great loss to our community when a business that promotes within its community in such a positive manner and provides unparalleled service and reputation, is seemingly terminated from its franchise for all the wrong reasons. This is America, where only those that provide such great interaction with the public survive in sales, service and community support. It is very disheartening that the few sitting in an ivory tower somewhere, treat the impact of such a loss to our community as merely a number, and weeding out process, which may make dealers of a less than reputable nature, win the prize of keeping their franchise, while ones like Village, that have shown loyalty to its community and customers alike, are seemingly singled-out for no apparent reason, other than to make the balance of existing dealers, sell more cars, and probably at higher prices, since competition is no longer around. Please, when reevaluating whether Village should be reinstated with its franchise, do not forget that this country is based on Free Enterprise where the market and local support determines who should survive, and not a white shirt sitting in a ivory tower somewhere!!!

Sincerely Gary M

Randy,

This email is in FULL support of Village Automotive and in allowing Village Automotive to return to a Chrysler Jeep Dealer.

I base this on the fact that I leased a Chrysler Vehicle from them in 2008, and the entire experience with them (and specifically Dennis) has me telling everyone what a great dealer that follows thru with ALL commitments and this includes my experience with Service, as they are always on schedule and never have made me wait.

I also most likely will not return to lease another Chrysler later this year since I cannot lease with Village.

I certainly hope you can return to a Chrysler Dealership! • Very Best Regards,

Jim Lim

Dear Mr. Beattie,

Let first start out by stating that I concur that your business, (formerly known as Village Chrysler Jeep) did not create the current economic turmoil in which our state is suffering. In fact the successful operation that was Village Chrysler Jeep enhanced the economic viability of my community by providing jobs and a tax base for the city of Royal Oak and it's surrounding suburbs. My family has been a loyal customer since 2000 and when my current lease is up in 2011, I cringe at the thought of dealing with another dealership who will not have my best interest in mind. The closing of your Chrysler-Jeep dealership has created a void in new car dealerships within Oakland County, particularly southern Oakland County. The process of how and why dealerships were closed was not a transparent process nor a fair one. This process left many areas without new car dealerships forcing consumers to drive for miles to purchase a new vehicle or receive service on their current vehicle. I would highly recommend that the arbitration board reinstate the dealership formerly known as Village Chrysler Jeep.

Sincerely,

Valarie L. Sea

Having retired from Chrysler Corporation after 42 years, I have been using Village Chrysler - Jeep exclusively for service on my lease vehicles for the past 20 years.

Although, I have not purchased these vehicle from them they have been most helpful in ordering my units from the Corporate lease program.

Since the Corporation took many of our 'fringes" away through the years, I was loyal and stayed with the Corporation and purchased Chrysler Town & Country including a seven year maintenance page from another dealer not as conveniently located as 'Village'. This vehicle will be service by a Chrysler Dealership and hopefully one closer to my home.

I, also, understand the the Huhn Dealership is one of the oldest Jeep Dealerships in the Michigan Area and feel due consideration should be given to granting the franchise back.

A Letter to Our Friends by Randy Beattie, General Manager

I am writing to you on behalf of the employees, customers and local businesses who do business with Village Automotive fik/a Village Chrysler-Jeep here in Royal Oak. As a local business within your community since 1990, we have worked tirelessly to not only provide the highest level of service to our loyal customer base but to be a responsible corporate citizen in our community.

We are now asking for your help. Regrettably, as a result of the pressure applied by the President's Automotive Task Force appointed by the U.S Treasury, Chrysler was required to reduce its dealer body.

Please forward your comments to my attention at: [email protected] or to The AutoHahn Network, attn: Randy Beattie, 31200 Woodward, Royal Oak, MI 48073. All comments will be provided to the arbitrator as part of our presentation.

Dear Randy -

Our family has purchased 3 vehicles from Village Chrysler-Jeep store over past 5 years ... well taken

care of by Dennis Golubowski.

Was disheartened to find Village was one of the dealerships discontinued as result of the government dictated Chrysler bankruptcy, and even more disturbed upon learning the arbitrary and questionable actions surrounding the dealerships singled out for closure.

I would highly be in favor of a reinstatement of Village Chrysler-Jeep (add Dodge brand if possible ...got one of those too) not only for my own benefit, but for our local community as well. Losing your

110

dealership from this area was a significant loss in many respects, and I hope you prevail in arbitration for reinstatement.

I am a ten year customer of Village Automotive (f/k/a Village Chrysler-Jeep) of Royal Oak, Michigan, and have been completely satisfied with their service. This store has serviced three of my vehicles during this time and sold me two new cars. In all my dealings, their employees have honored all appointments, provided me good and timely maintenance service and treated me fairly when purchasing new automobiles. In addition, they follow up with a phone call to determine that each service was performed satisfactory. The Village dealership is located at a convenient location and is a valuable asset and well maintained prope in the Royal Oak community. I encourage Chrysler Corporation to reinstate a Chrysler-Jeep franchise to Village Automotive. -Curt Troy, MI

I am writing to you on behalf of the employees, customers and local

businesses who do business with Village Automotive fAc1a Village Chrysler-Seep here in Royal Oak. As a local business within your community since 1990, we

have worked tirelessly to not only provide the highest level of service to our loyal customer base but to be a responsible corporate citizen in our community.

We are now asking for your help. Regrettably, as a result of the pressure applied by the President's

Automotive Task Force appointed by the U.S. Treasury, Chrysler was required to reduce its dealer body. Our store was among the hundreds of stores whose

franchise was terminated as a direct result of the manufacturers' bankruptcy filing. However, through the affected dealers' perseverance, President Obama signed

federal legislation as part of the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2010

which enacted House of Representatives Bill 3288 ("H.R. 3288"). A section within

this Bill provides our dealership the right to enter into binding arbitration to determine whether or not we should be reinstated.

The arbitrator will decide on our reinstatement based upon the best interest

of the dealer, the manufacturer and the general public. As one of only two new car dealers who were located on Woodward, how Royal Oak would be impacted by a darkened storefront and the subsequent

loss of jobs and tax base? Are the

Dear Mr. Beattie, I am very sorry for the predicament and pressure that has been mercilessly placed by our very

own President and his cronies to the automotive industry and dealerships that has been directly afffected by such action.Consequently this triggers unemployment which did not help much with our economy despite the billions of dollars we became endebted with ,to supposedly "stimulous the economy".All it has accomplished so far is create a debt that our great-great grandchildren will be paying.

I am so proud of the great services you had rendered in Royal Oak and surrounding communities. I am hoping the arbitrators will see what an asset your establishment is to our community and keeping you in business will help to stimulate our economy and create jobs for the unemployed.

God's richly bless your company.

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN

I am writing this letter on behalf of Village Auto Sales

a former Chrysler/Jeep dealer. I have had the very

pleasant experience of leasing two vehicles from Village

in the past and was impressed with their efficiency and

thoroughness in dealing with me. I also availed myself

of their vehicle service facilities over the past four years

and feel they were one of the best I've ever dealt with in

my fifty years of owning Chrysler vehicles. Their service

area handled my vehicle problems quickly and in a manner that

did not necessitate my returning again with the same problem.

It was with confidence that I referred two friends to this

dealership and one bought a Chrysler vehicle from them while

the other leased a vehicle. Both had previously driven non-

Chrysler products. I feel Village was an asset to the community

and would like to seeonce again as my "friendly neighborhood

Chrysler dealer"!

Dear Mr. Beattie,

I am a potential customer. I am very much saddened and angered that so many businesses have had to shut down through no fault of their own.

If your facility is going to be given a chance to survive this mess we all find our selves a part of, then I definitely support you. If I can do anything more --like write the arbitrators on your behalf, (or anything else you can think of) then contact me.

Yours in the struggle for survival,

• Randy,

I am writing in full support of the hope the once again Village Chrysler Jeep can regain its dealership with Chrysler. Being an established dealer in Royal Oak for so many years your dealership served the community well! Its was your impeccable service to your customers that lead me to be a customer of yours since the 1990's. The President's Automotive Task Force decision regarding your dealership has certainly affected the residents of Royal Oak forcing us to travel many miles to purchase or service our vehicles. That is something I am not happy with. Village was a very reasonable business in Royal Oak and gave a lot back to the community. When the current Obama administration focused their campaign on change little did anyone know this is what they were talking about. It is my hope and more importantly my mission to get the word out in support of Village. I offer you my support and sincere hope of success in arbitration on regaining your dealership.

Sincerely, The MAIM Family

Dear Mr. Beattie,

4111 My wife and I bought at PT Cruiser at your dealership in September 2009 and were pleased with the service and the courtesy that we received. Then we were disappointed to hear that the dealership and the relationship with Chrysler-Jeep would be eliminated.

We hope that the Chrysler-Jeep dealership will be restored to Royal Oak and to Village Automotive. We believe that a disservice has been done to your company and to Chrysler when forced to make such changes. Sometimes it is better to tighten our belts and make quality improvements internally until we can start running normally again.

Best wishes to you and your employees during these tough situations. I have always felt that cutbacks or pay-cuts could be done rather than total elimination of businesses of jobs. I worked for Chrysler for 33 years and have always felt great loyalty to the company. I hope that the Chrysler-Fiat venture will be successful and work as a new dealership for you.

Sincerely,

Sheldon P. D41111111
