New Section-Scouter Online Training Guide The current online training is called “My Learning Path” and it is available through the David Huestis Learning Centre. This training is broken down into modules which have been divided into 10-60 minute sessions so you can take them at your convenience. In order to complete the initial training requirements to participate in programming with youth, you must complete some online training. Initially, you only need to complete one location on the Learning Map, titled Scouting Fundamentals. Scouting Fundamentals is your introduction to running safe, fun programming with the other scouters and youth in your section. It takes approximately 3.5 hours to complete. Included in this module is RESPECT training (you can alternatively take Child and Youth Safety training) and Accessibility training. Your myscouts profile will update within 24 hours to show that you have completed this training.

New Section-Scouter Online Training Guide

The current online training is called “My Learning Path” and it is available through the David Huestis Learning Centre. This training is broken down into modules which have been divided into 10-60 minute sessions so you can take them at your convenience.

In order to complete the initial training requirements to participate in programming with youth, you must complete some online training. Initially, you only need to complete one location on the Learning Map, titled Scouting Fundamentals.

Scouting Fundamentals is your introduction to running safe, fun programming with the other scouters and youth in your section. It takes approximately 3.5 hours to complete. Included in this module is RESPECT training (you can alternatively take Child and Youth Safety training) and Accessibility training. Your myscouts profile will update within 24 hours to show that you have completed this training.

Once you have completed this training in addition to your application, interview, Police Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Search (PRC with VSS), you are able to participate in programming with the youth in your section. You then have one year to visit the 4 other locations on the island. If you need to meet ratio for your section, you may need to complete this training sooner.

Please note: as a section scouter (ie. you are volunteering with colony, pack, troop, company or crew) you do not need to visit “Supporting the Program”. This training is only for Group Committee Scouters (ex. Group Commissioner, Group Registrar, Group Treasurer, etc.).

Scouters Working Together (1 hour 30 minutes) -How to Engage Parents -How to Plan for Youth-Led -How to Fund the Program -How do I Work With Section Leadership Teams? -How to Use the Program Quality Standards
