The Choice 2020: Trump vs. Biden TUE Sep 22 | 9pIn November, American voters will go to the polls to decide whether President Donald Trump or Democratic challenger Joe Biden will lead the country for the next four years. FRONTLINE: The Choice 2020 explores the character of the candidates by examining the formative episodes in their lives through interviews with those who know them best. An antidote to the shrill sound bites, partisan spin and superficial coverage that have come to characterize American presidential campaigns, The Choice has earned a reputation for its clear, unbiased reporting.
Debates 2020: Presidential Debate TUE Sep 29 | 6pThis month, PBS NewsHour will provide in-depth coverage and analysis of the first presidential candidates’ debate. Additional coverage will include debates on October 7, 15 and 22 featuring both presidential and vice presidential candidates. Please confirm airdates and times for these debate specials at KCTS9.org/schedule.
Portraits and Dreams SAT Sep 12 | 11:30pThis documentary revisits photographs created by Kentucky schoolchildren in the 1970s and the place where the photos were made. The film is about the students, their work as visionary photographers and the lives they have led since then, as well as the linkage of personal memory to the passage of time.
Love Child SAT Sep 19 | 11:30pWith adultery punishable by death in Iran, a young couple make the fateful decision to flee the country with their son. Follow the trio on their life-threatening journey to plead for asylum, and witness a mother’s heartbreaking fight to keep her family together and secure a future for her child.

NOVA: Human Nature WED Sep 9 | 8pA breakthrough called CRISPR has given us unprecedented control over the basic building blocks of life. It opens the door to curing diseases, reshaping the biosphere and designing our own children. Human Nature is a provocative exploration of CRISPR’s far-reaching implications, through the eyes of the scientists who discovered it, the families it’s affecting and the bioengineers who are testing its limits.
Hacking Your Mind series premiere WED Sep 9 | 10pThis fascinating four-part series brings to life amazing new scientific discoveries about how we make decisions every day – decisions as basic as what to eat, whether or not to buy something, who to vote for and how we choose a mate. These stunning and unexpected discoveries allow us to see ourselves in an entirely new way. Hacking Your Mind features leading experts who explain this scientific revolution, using dramatic, funny and engaging ways to show the impact these discoveries can have on our lives.
Islands of Wonder series premiere WED Sep 16 | 8pThis spectacular three-part series takes viewers on a journey to the most exotic, mysterious and remote islands on the planet: Madagascar, Borneo and Hawaii. These isolated and iconic tropical islands are home to remarkable wildlife and human castaways found nowhere else on earth.
NOVA: Secret Mind of Slime WED Sep 16 | 9pWho says you need brains to be smart? Extremely primitive life forms called slime molds can navigate mazes, choose between foods and create efficient networks – no brain required. New research on these organisms, which are neither plant nor animal, could help reveal the fundamental rules underlying all decision-making.
And there’s more! See page 10 of this guide for more new NOVA episodes airing this month on KCTS 9.

Building the American Dream TUE Sep 15 | 10p
Across Texas, an unstoppable construction boom drives urban sprawl and luxury high-rises. Its dirty secret: abuse of immigrant labor, in a state where construction workers face some of the deadliest conditions in the country.
This documentary captures a turning point as a movement forms to fight widespread exploitation of these construction workers. The film follows three families who are rising up to seek justice and equality for immigrant workers. A story of courage, resilience and community, the film reveals shocking truths about the hardworking immigrants who build the American dream – a dream from which they are excluded.
