Best Practice-I

Title of the Practice: Mala Jag Pahu Dya (Let Me See the World)

Goal:

To create awareness among students regarding present scenario of abortion of female foetus.

To make them sensitive regarding ratio of male and female. To create gender equality.

The Context:

There is always negative attitude towards girls in the society in this area. Orthodox attitudes of the patriarchal system are stronger and it underestimates the achievements of the females. Most families in the society demand male child as the “Wanshacha Diwa” and for the same thing they abort female foetus. One astonishing thing is that female members of the family also support for such abortion. Doctors and medical practitioners do such illegal practices to earn more money. The ratio of gender is highly decreasing and no one is there to accept the responsibility of it.

The Practice:

The programme has been organized by Women Empowerment Cell on August 16, 2011 at 11.00 a.m. The in-charge principal of the college and head of the Women Empowerment Cell were present for the function. Many students have been participated in the programme. Students have presented a street play on the theme of “Save Girl Child” and sent a message to the society. A huge number of villagers were gathered for the street play. The chairperson of the function emphasized and advised to change the traditional attitude towards women.

Evidence of success:

All the students and villagers understood value of female foetus and its importance in the society. Most of the students very keenly involved in the programme. They are motivated to spread thoughts against the abortion of female foetus. Villagers got the scientific knowledge of male female ratio which helped them to understand factual situation of women in the society.

Problem Encountered and Resources Utilized:

Students performed street play which did not get response from the villagers on the level of intellect. The subject of the programme was considered taboo by the villagers and students.

Title of the Practice: Preparation of Competitive Exam

Goal: To make students aware of the competitive examination. To provide information about various competitive exams. To provide the platform for students for their career development in this area.

The Context The rural students do not have facilities for the preparation of competitive

examination. Most of the students are left behind due to lack of adequate resources and necessary information. Most of students prefer traditional jobs instead going to competitive exams. They are unable to face such exams. Sometimes they ask opportunities in the competitive sector and emerging areas. And hence it has become the need of all students to get proper guidance regarding competitive exams and job opportunities in the field.

The Practice:The Competitive Examination Committee has been established in the college

and the committee has provided all the necessary information regarding competitive examination to students. Many students contacted the committee and asked for further assistance. This committee and Career Counseling and Placement Cell organized a programme of 20 days of counseling and guidance on various competitive examinations.

Evidence of Success:This scheme is beneficial for the students. It is the best activity for rural

student. The rural students got confidence about competitive examination. They have generated a keen interest about this examinations and opportunities available in this area. The students got knowledge of how to solve question paper, time management, questions types, proper answer preparation, etc.

Problems encountered and Resources Required The programme did not get enough response. There is lack of current updates

available in various competitive journals. Internet facility is weak to access information about such exams.
