Ivo Dimchev

geboren 1976, ist ein Choreograf und Performer aus Bulgarien. Nach zehn Jahren Produzieren und Gastspielreisen graduierte Ivo Dimchev 2009 bei DasArts in Amsterdam und ging daraufhin nach Brüssel, wo er den Volksroom gründete, ein Ort, für unabhängige Performance Produktionen. Später zog er zurück in seine Heimatstadt Sofi a und eröff nete den berüchtigten Kunstraum Mozei. Zur Zeit lebt er zwischen Los Angeles, New York, Wien und London, wo er seine kontroversiellen Per-formances, Gesangsabende, Konzerte, Ausstellungen und Bücher auf intensivste Weise präsentiert. 2013–2017 war er Kaaitheater Artist-in- Residence.

born 1976, is a choreographer and performer from Bulgaria. After ten years of creating and touring, Ivo gradu-ated in 2009 at DasArts in Amsterdam and moved to Brussels. There he founded his independent stage Volksroom, in which he gave the performing arts free rein. Later he moved back to his hometown Sofi a and opened the notorious art space Mozei. Now he lives between Los Angeles, New York, Vienna and London, intensely presenting his controversial performances, vocal con-certs, art exhibitions and books. He was a Kaai theater artist-in-residence for the period 2013–2017.

„Worauf fokussiere ich mich und worauf möchte ich mein Publikum fokussieren? Ist mir der ästhetische/monetäre Wert der Elemente bewusst, mit denen ich arbeite? Kann ich das kontrollieren? Habe ich Prioritäten? Fixe oder flexible? Wen adressiere ich und was möchte ich von meinen Adressaten? Will ich unterhalten, informieren, helfen, unterrichten? Wie unterwandere ich mich selbst, ein Objekt, eine Idee? Was ist das Wichtigste im Univer-sum?“ Ivo Dimchev und die Researchgruppe schreiben Gedichte, komponieren Songs, arbeiten mit Objekten, machen Aussagen, unterwandern das alles und beschäftigen sich mit Fragen, die nicht nur für Performer relevant sind …

“What am I focused on and what do I want my audience to be focused on? Am I aware of the aesthetic/monetary value of the elements I work with? Am I able to control this value? Do I have priorities? Are my priorities fixed or are they flexible? Who am I targeting and what do I want from the ones I target? Do I entertain, do I inform, do I help or do I teach? How do I subvert myself, or an object or an idea? What is the most important thing in the universe?” Ivo Dimchev and the group will write poems, compose songs, choreo-graph, work with objects, make statements, subvert, and deal with questions, which are certainly relevant not only for performers …
