The plan of action chalked out by the IQAC in the beginning of the year towards quality enhancement and the outcome achieved by the end of the year. The college underwent the accreditation process in the month of

August 2008 and received ‘B’ grade from National Assessment and

Accreditation Council, Bangalore.

The college re-opened on 8th July 2010 for the academic year 2010-11,

the IQAC decided to consolidate the gains made and work on the

following areas:

� Introduction of new self-sustaining courses.

� More widespread usage of innovative teaching methods.

� Exploring more areas for the institutional industry linkage.

� Greater contact with experts from various fields through

guest lectures, seminars, workshops and conferences.

� Greater responsibility towards the environment.

� Use of more comprehensive software for effective

administration.

� Strengthening the services offered by the placement cell.

� Improvement in sports facilities.

� To conduct periodical tests, seminars to the students.

� To conduct remedial coaching classes for slow learners

� To relieve teachers for participation & paper presentation

at seminars & workshops

� To develop infrastructure of the college.

courses in computer Science and Journalism.

1. Activities reflecting the goals and objectives of the Institution.

In this post accreditation period the Institutions activities were

primarily focused on enhancement of quality level attained over the

years in different aspects of higher education.

The College is a premier institution with rich legacy in terms of

facilities, equipments, staff and achievements. Since 11 years of its

establishments the college has served as the focal point in all-round

development of the students of coastal region of Karnataka.

The college offers B.A., B.Com., B.B.M., and B.C.A. courses to the

students irrespective of castes, communities, class, religion and place

of Birth. Our college is well equipped with the infrastructure,

Computer Laboratories, extensive playground, library and HRD

Centre.

The college offers free Mid-Day Meals to the needy students. The

management has taken a lot of efforts to support and encourage sports

and extra-curricular activities like NSS, Rangers and Rovers, Drama

etc.

3. Innovation in curricular design & transaction

Since the syllabus has been prescribed by the University there is no

scope for innovation in curriculum design. However, efforts are being

made by the teachers to make the subjects better understood by the

students through innovative teaching methods such as –

� Conducting interaction with people and academicians.

� Conducting group discussions and seminars.

� Use of audio visual aids such as LCD, OHP,VCD, Power Point

presentation.

� Project based studies.

Members of the teaching Staff hold responsible positions on

University Committees ,which enable them to contribute to important

decisions in the teaching learning process.

N.S.S.

The college organized an orientation programme for the NSS

volunteers on August 7th. Mr.Santhosh, Lecturer in History Govt.

P.U.College Thenkanidiyoor was the resource person.

Mr.Abhishek Devadiga of II BBM participated in the RD

selection camp held at Bangalore between 6th to 12th September,

he also participated in the state level NSS cultural fest held at

Mangalore university campus Mangalore from 21st to 27th January

2010 .

N.S.S volunteers took part in various programmes held in and

around the town, like National Sports Day Rally organized by

Udupi Athletic Association and Alva’s Nudisiri.

N.S.S Annual Camp was held at Govt Higher Primary School,

Brahmavar from 8th to 14th December 2010. 90 volunteers

participated in the camp with “Healthy Youth for Healthy India” as

its Motto. Free Medical checkup camp was arranged during the

special camp.

Rangers and Rovers:

The unit took part in Vanamahothsava on 22nd August 2010 at

Mannapalla, Manipal. They participated in Batten Rally from

Kinnimulky to Udupi on 6th September and in a service camp at

Udupi on 12th December 2010 on account of 80th Birthday of

Pejawara Swamiji. Rovers attended Nature Study Camp held at

Hebri on 16th January 2011.

7 Rovers of our unit completed Nipun Certificate course this year

and Rangers of 3rd year are appearing for the Praveen Exam.

The students of open unit Rovers participated in State Level

Jamborette on 27th December to 2nd January in a State Level

Trekking Camp held at Kumara Parvatha, Subramanya.

Junior Jaycee wing:

Junior Jaycee wing started its activities on 7th August 2010 with a

talk on “Success” by Jc. Rajesh Bhat Paniyadi, Zone Trainer JCI

India. Several activities like quiz, case analysis, leadership training,

handwriting competition, rangoli competition and Mehendi

competitions were held for its members. The members participated

in 2 days training programme organized by JCI Kundapura. They

also attended a seminar on Career Guidance organized by

Mangalore University.

Rotaract Club:

The members of the club participated in various programmes.

Leadership development program organized by the college,

Rotary youth Leadership awards Programme in Sakleshpura,

Rotract district conference “Parampare” in Kinnigoli in which

the member bagged many prizes in the competitions.

Women Empowerment Cell:

The cell has been working in the direction of enlightening the

women students about their role and responsibilities in the society.

Various talks were held during this year.

Dr P.V.Bhandary, Director, Dr.Viroopaksha, Psychiatrist of Dr.

A.V baliga Hospital, Udupi gave a talk on, “Ethos, social

responsibility and family attachment” on 31st September 2010

Literary and Fine Arts Association organized a talk by Dr.

Manmohan Dayal Gosami on “Spiritual life style of India” on

22nd September 2010.

Humanities & Communication Club:

A film unit of journalism students “Bellisakshi” is introduced in

this academic year. A lecture on “news writing techniques” was

delivered by Mr.Chandrashekhar Mandekolu, Sub editor of

Udayavani and on “Effective writing in news paper” by Dr.

Prabhakara Tumusi, senior reporter of Prajavani. Mr.

Premananda kalmadi organized one day documentary

production programme.

The journalism students recently launched Madhava news

channel which was inaugurated by Manipal Community Radio

Coordinator Mr. Shyam Bhat .

� OPAC: Online Public Access Catalogue

� Library has been fully computerized

� Exhibition of new arrivals

� Display of Newspaper clippings relating to outstanding

developments in all disciplines.

� Batch wise students were exposed to the rare books available in

the library.

� The library is also equipped with a new duplicating machine.

Questionnaires were distributed and the opinions were elicited.

Department wise discussion was made based on feedback and

steps were taken to make improvements whichever teachers were

found deficient.

26. Increase in the infrastructural facilities

� Construction of one more floor with two class rooms, one

Staff room and a room for HRD center were completed and

made ready for use.

� Wiring and plumbing works of the rooms were completed.

� 40 pairs of benches were purchased to furnish the newly

constructed class rooms.

� Other details of increase in infrastructure with its purchase

price is given below.

� College magazine : Rs. 76,032/-

� Carpet : Rs. 6,099/-

� Electric wiring : Rs. 14,249/-

� Refrigerator : Rs. 8,000/-

27. Technology up gradation

� LCD Projector installed in Conference hall.

� College is having full fledged Computer Laboratory. The

Laboratory is open for conducting practicals in the

subjects of Computer Science and Applications for

31. Support from the Parent-Teacher Association & its Activities

Apart from spreading goodwill, the association is encouraging the

students by donating fund to free mid-day meal project. The

Association honoured rank holders and contributed to the

Medical help is given to the students in case of necessity in the nearby

KMC hospital Manipal. As a part of NSS activity-

organized at Govt. Primary School Brahmavar.

� College Football team(men) entered pre-quarter final in

36. Activities of the Guidance & Counseling Cell

� For a batch of 18 to 20 students a staff counselor is appointed and Students are encouraged to interact with their counselors.

� Personal counseling of the students especially Stress management is done by the faculty.

� Departmental teachers also extend academic guidance to students even after they pass out of the institution.

� Under the supervision of Mr.Prakash B, Lecturer, Dept of

38. Development programmes for non-teaching staff

Office staffs have attended many workshops. Office

superintendent (Accounts) has participated in a state level seminar

on “Advanced skills for Administrative staff”. All the office staffs

are trained in computer literacy. Attenders are encouraged to

pursue higher studies

39. Best practices of the Institutions

Best practices of the Institution are as follows:

� The Principal and the Heads of the Departments will monitor the

work done by the staff members written in “WORK DIARY ”.

� Parent-Teacher meet is organized twice in a year in order to

provide an open platform for free and healthy interaction.

� The college starts with prayer “ELLI MANAKALUKIRADO… ”

� Uniform has been made compulsory for all degree students from

this academic year.

� Four tests are conducted to prepare the students for the University

Semester Examinations and also for the calculation of Internal

Assessment marks. Proficiency prizes are awarded on the basis of

these examinations and this inspires the students to perform better

in final examination.

� First year students have to study the paper Indian Constitution,

Gender Equity, Human Rights, which is highly value oriented
